How to stop inventory space issues in ESO

Stop hoarding.

Once the servers come back up I will make space to deconstruct almost all of my sets.
I will toss out useless items like instant research scrolls....
I will sell whatever is sellable...

After that I will

Destroy almost everything I obtain
sell everything else that is profitable
Never chase the meta
Never gold weapons or armors...

otherwise I won't actually be able to play the game...

For the past 3 months my play cycle has been

log in, grab the usual junk inside the daily log in... then log off...

Now I am thinking the daily log in is a sham to toss even more trash at us...

So now I will have to stop that as well... for what? a crate that is going to give me a junk vanity pet (to force us not to turn it into gems lol)

DESTROY ******** EVERYTHING....

Breathe in, accept that you don't really need the item, deconstruct it, and never look back...

Now I have to find a way to make space to deconstruct the items...Never ending bull...

Next patch EVEN MORE ITEMS WILL BE PLACED IN THE GAME!!

I think 2 more house storage chests would be good to have now. 150 slots are booked for surveys at my house storage. One has jewelry writs which would be worth doing, when platings are cheaper. One has some golden gears, I don't want to destroy, remaining also choke with master writs due to my laziness.

Yes, it's a nightmare. And the worst thing is that it has been intended that way, to frustrate players into buying eso+ each month. Instead of making you want to buy something because it's good, or cool or whatever, they decided to go the "I FRUSTRATE YOU" way. I am sure many players have a love/hate relationship with the game.

I did this once - destroyed, deconstructed, sold everything. I'm happy now! I don't hoard any more.

Trading guilds are the best inventory management mechanic.

The problem with inventory is itemization which showers player with potentially useful drops which fill any space available if player does not get rid of em. A medieval fantasy themed game is not better with warehouse management as significant activity ESO+ or no.

I believe poor itemization and inventory is simply incompetent game design, not a conspiracy to sell ESO+. Because ESO+ does nothing! It just delays the pain for a while until you have double as bad cleaning job complared to without ESO+. I know, I tried ESO+ and almost quit the game from the result.

Just get rid of the stuff you do not need. Because game designers did not bother with it during early development.

I honestly didn't know what to answer, because all of it is equally true for me I'm hopeless hoarder. I keep not only full sets of gear which I have never used (and probably never will) - I keep every part of it in two or more traits each...

What if _insert ability/set name_ will be buffed in future and I will need it? It's very difficult to live with this thought

If developers said "This will never be buffed in future/pvp will be totally impossible/you will never want to do vet trials competitively etc.", I would destroy almost all sets from my hoard ASAP. But this damn hope and constant nerfs/buffs are crazy - they really don't want me to stop hoarding.

Yeah, the issue is the hoarding impulse.

Its especially bad when you make a new character and go like "but... but... I haven't researched that trait yet!!!" - even if you already have a good crafter, its still sometimes difficult for me to even think about not researching anything and everything on even my testbed alts...

And then of course there are all the nifty sets you can find and think "I -might- use it someday when I make a new alt..." and of course a lot of recipes you hoard because... why anyhow? because you might at some point when your alts get enough skill points start them as cook too, for roleplaying reasons? (that's why I keep them I have to admit)

Add to that the other things that clog up inventory...
...like disguises you keep for roleplaying (and they really should remove all those and give out costumes for the same visuals instead on quest completion, and refit that retroactively to all characters)
...or furniture (and boy would I love to see a "furniture bag" added to ESO+!)
...or stolen "civilian clothing" you keep for RP purposes (and I think they really should let us deconstruct those for a chance of adding the visuals to the outfit system; if we can get the "prisoner" pieces, the "civilian clothing" pieces would fit right next to those!)
...or collectible pieces (and I wish they would refit the new "collection tab" system for all the old ones too, like sixth house costume and such!)
...or consumables (and I wish those would stack higher, or at least be consistent in stack size throughout the whole selection, it vexes me that some like potions stack to 100, some others to 200 and some even higher...)

Some more things that could help with inventory management... would be options to increase guild bank size! Like, let any guildmember donate stuff to expand the guild bank! And that stuff could be crown-bought upgrades, or perhaps even something they can game for... like a guild project that requires gold and resource donations from many members to complete!
I would also love to see a way to unlock guild services with crowns, so that tiny "just circle of friends" guilds also could have a bank without having to invite strangers...

The inventory management only becomes a problem if you have the need to pick up n keep everything you find...

For me the hoarding is not a problem. Crafting (doing dailies) on more than one character is.

You see, bank space and your current character inventory, are the only things that is "visible" by crafting stations. This means that you have to use your bank to keep crafting mats.

Bank space is 240 slots when maxed. Slots needed just to keep one stack of top tier crafting mats + motif style mats:
270 - 280 (last time I counted, but it could have increased since then).

So I hope, now you understand. Sure, I can remove some things that are never used (like Denata & Jejota runes, as they are never used). Also, it is worth mentioning that I no longer even keep raw materials in bank, and I am like barely able to make it. 239 / 240 slots.

Right now I am thinking of using one of housing chests (30 or 60 one, idk yet) to transfer some rare motif style mats from my bank.

But the point is, at some point, making further sacrifices wont be possible, if ZOS wont address the problem. It really sucks when you buy Chapter or story DLC and you have access to new crafting mats, yet they dont provide space necessary to keep those crafting mats.

Simple conclusion: If inventory management MUST be closed behind pay-wall, then they should simply add an option to increase bank space if you bought a chapter. So the cap would increase +10 for each owned chapter or story DLC. There, every one wins, as ESO+ would get double bank space, and non ESO+ would suffer less...

They want you to buy the useless piggybank pets to get 5 inventory slots per pet instead of including inventory update with something one actually might want to buy anyway. Nickel and dime.

Inventory space is the absolute MOST annoying way to monetize a game. Even your paying customers send up annoyed by it, just less so.

Don't look great, don't hold much, fill up your houses, got to try to remember which one you put stuff in...

They're rubbish.

They should have made a single wall safe, or chest, you could add capacity to, gradually - as opposed to multiple chests which hold very little.

Get a private guild bank for yourself, its 500 slots for any unbound stuff. Just come to starting players area and invite everyone, it also works best at free ESO weekends, chances that invited people wont come back into game are quite high. Bank unlocks at 10 players in guild, so if you got ~30 players at trial period, you can be sure that you've secured nice 500 slots at cost of one guild slot.

On active characters I have only between 40-95/205 slots used (including multiple gear setups, stacks of foods, potions, sieges etc.), in bank I have around 350/480 (mostly master writs or motif pages I plan on selling later), storage chests are almost full with master writs and seasonal drops I hold long term before selling. And besides that I have 5 auxiliary characters that hold gear I'm not currently using and another one that accumulates survey maps in stacks. The latter are not pure "mules" but are in fact fully trained crafters, most of them with 9 traits on everything, that do writs every day, just like the others. I tend to hold master writs for a couple of months because it's more convenient for me to craft them in large batches - economies of scale. But I have absolutely no storage problems since I always decide fairly quickly if I hold, deconstruct or sell stuff on guild stores.

Yup. What's especially inexcusable about this is a couple layers that add insult to injury. On one layer, we have the fact that there have been dozens if not hundreds of new items introduced since launch but the developers have yet to increase character/bank inventory maximums once. On the other layer, we now also have cash shop exclusive inventory space that was introduced in a way to make players shrug their shoulders at it instead of recognize it for what it is.

I do have private guild banks—3 of them, in fact. It’s a work around, but it doesn’t take away the frustration. And I can’t imagine the stress on that guild bank system, which seems held together by a thread, could be preferable from a performance standpoint to simply allowing characters and personal banks to have more slots.

I agree with the poster above that storage chests are not a good workaround. Like private guild banks, they are still frustratingly difficult to access.

For items in this game they should make a Collectible system, it would inspire to me to play so much more as meta changes I don't feel like it was futile. I often skip a meta cycle or two now. Still have not farmed Loki, still AY, prob won't get Loki either just get the next meta instead. I wish it was possible to have certain items stored as collectibles.

1 ) Unique quest items (Including unique items found in dungeons and overworld):
Instead of unique quest items dropping from quest givers, have them unlock similar to a style page.
You can gold them in the collectibles tab and transmute them and enchant them.
Your changes are account wide, however, for an alt to also unlock it they have to complete the quest/dungeon/wb/delve.
You can change the trait in one of two ways, either transmute it, or add a standard item with the trait you want.
EG - Argonian Muck Minder, if you add a Golded, Shock Enchanted, Precise, MSorrow Lightning Staff it will overwrite and upgrade the collectible.
As you add, or transmute additional traits you can revert back at will.

2 ) Crafted sets
Have Grand Master writs drop. They offer no writ voucher reward.
If you complete a grand master writ, CP160, Gold you will unlock that item in the collectibles.
The Grand Master Writ will require nirnhoned trait, but in the collectible tab, you can select any trait.
As Crafted sets are not BIS, this should be account wide as it may inspire people to try tanking / healing and swapping builds around.

3 ) All other items
Have all items in the game possible to move to collection tabs, but they cannot be withdrawn and are not account wide.
The cost of doing so is that the character is stuck with it, if you want to move it to an alt, you can't, you will have to refarm it.
I was thinking to further the cost this should be be account wide, but perhaps class wide. Meaning all Dragonknights can access the same library of collected items, but for every class starts to collect items in the collectibles tab it costs you 1 house chest. You can only store 1 of each item, ie no 2 daggers, no 2 rings, just 1 of each. For instance

Class 1 - 1 small chest (If your first class you do this on is Dragon Knight, all Dragon Knights will have access to any item moved to collectibles but if you want to activate the item collectible tab, it will cost a chest to do it)
Class 2 - 1 small chest
Class 3 - 1 small chest
Class 4 - 1 small chest
Class 5 - 1 large chest
Class 6 - 1 large chest

It uses the research timer to move these items to collectibles, that way it prevents people simply racking up everything in sight and never farming locations ever again. It means if you collect all the meta, but new meta is out, but you don't want to decon the old meta, you can just rack it up and start farming the new gear.

Also, make Non-Perfect and Perfect gear complete the set bonus, but not activate the Perfect bonus unless all 5 pieces are Perfect. That way Perfect can overwrite Non-Perfect rather than having two separate sets in the collection tab.

Why I am so bored of this game is I am trapped between farming the new meta, and not wanting to decon my old. Mostly because the improvement isn't all too worth it and also with recent changes there is just as much chance that what I decon will become the new meta in U25.

If I could preserve old meta without it being a burden, I would farm the new. Let me collect it.

You don't need to level any of them, just create the guild on your main account and transfer GM rights to one of the level 1 alts. (careful - you won't be able to change any GM-only guild settings once you do that, because the GM character isn't level 10 or higher!)

There is only one, and exactly ONE reason that camps can even stack in the first place: because you can never, ever stow a camp after it's been placed.

In other words, this guarantees that all camps in the inventory will always be at 100% durability, thereby allowing them to always stack.

Was actually about to make my own post about eso plus but here will do.

Eso plus is shady and not consumer friendly at all. Like ok if it was just a terrible version of a season pass that gives you the dlc free and some small perks that would be fine. but lets not pretend like craft bag and double bank space arnt HUGE perks in eso. The worst part is they dont have to be THESE ARE ARTIFICIALLY CREATED PROBLEMS FOR ESO PLUS TO SOLVE!

Like you cant even really do crafting daiies if your trying to keep the mats for it on your crafter. The throw events at us like candy because the game doesnt have anything else to do and you cant even participate in them because you cant store the stuff from them.

Its not even like im hording every set in the game. I have a pve set and a pvp set for all of my toons, I dont even have all of the extra sets for my healer. Got all my furniture stored in houses not in my bank. Somehow though I cant even put stuff in my bank to trade between characters.

Like I paid for the base game and all the chapters. I should be able to play those problem free without being charged extra for them. Not that you can actually play them problem free because there a crash/disconnect, bug filled, no system working mess but I at least shouldnt be CHARGED to fix inconveniences.

And I know there not going to do anything about it, why would they its zo$ were talking about but still its bad business practice and it sucks.

You can rename the coffers,so you know what is in there.I don't use eso+,and no guild bank,and just save mats,and furniture I want to use.If I see a set I might want to keep goes on alt chars,just make and name alts to hold gear like Servius Tank to hold tank gear,Magus Heals for healer stuff,etc,and use LeoAlts addon to see who has what in inv.

The problem isnt a storage problem( assuming you have ESO plus) its a hoarder problem. I say that as a former hoarder of things in games. In life i use the 12 month rule. If you dont use something in a 12 month period, its time to get rid of it.

In the game i keep the gear im wearing and anything i may be upgrading to immediately( IE: im still ACTIVELY getting pieces, transmuting, improving, etc.) . Everything else is deconstructed or sold. Consumables are either being used or sold. Any of the random stuff that cannot be sold and im not going to use that is taking up space it trashed including geodes. Im probably destroyed a 50 plus geodes this year.

My only storage problem really is furniture and that is more or less because we dont have proper furniture storage. I buy a house i have no plans of decorating and use that as furniture storage. Its a pain to go to the house to get pieces i need. Id rather just trade a house for proper furniture storage so i can edit my homes without an excessive amount of inventory clutter.

I cant even say i actively hoard resources because i dont actually keep an eye on my craft bag. I collect resources and i craft, if i run out of something i go get more. Its not hoarding if its useful and you are actually using it. Its hoarding if you keep it and intend to use it but never do and that becomes a pattern.

Special drops that are BoP i also get rid of in less its something i am actively working on. Did the same with monster gear. I knew someone( quit playing) who had every set of monster gear in storage and all kinds of VMA gear"just in case ZOS nerfed something"

Inventory Management Online would drive me insane which is exactly why the craft bag and double bank space will always be an ESO plus thing. It is a less restricting free version because their are ways around it, if you want to put in extra work. I just met a guy that came from another game this past week. He plays for free and his primary goal is basically to become wealthy in the games he plays. He is level 20 has played about 10 days and in his first full week in my trade guild earned 93k gold because he sells everything he doesnt need. That was really impressive to me. I wish i could do that but i still got a touch of hoarderism.
