On topic: while I’m super annoyed that the ONE event we get is cancelled... I’m also glad I won’t have to compete for spots in the queue with whiny PVEers who don’t want to die in a PVP zone just because they’re there for their precious ~*feathers*~ or Caltrops.

You had the event in January, as has been stated multiple times.

and the thieves / DB was in March - what's your point?

The point is you havent been cheated out of an event as has been asserted by many people. Yah it's annoying and such that your expectations werent met but you havent been cheated. AND if they had the vent in this current state of things, it would no doubt be a disaster.

SO lets go get the double mats and double stuffs and do what we can with what we have.

    that's the point.

An above poster pointed out the rewards we missed out on. Other posters have pointed out the January MM was a bonus, additional, and not supposed to replace the actual Midyear one.

But I'd like to talk about what I'm missing.

I'm missing out on a lot of fun with friends. My PVP guild would run for hours during the daytime, and that's hours of laughing, joking, and fighting together with people I genuinely enjoy hanging out with. We just do what we normally do and make double AP for it.

I'm missing out on meeting cool new people. Midyear Mayhem is one of the few times we get a lot of new people in Cyrodiil looking for guilds that know how to play effectively in Cyrodiil. So every time we have Midyear Mayhem, I meet new people who find out they really like PVP and join up to play with us for a while.

I'm missing out on amazing fights. Last year, we had a 3 hour trifaction siege of Chalman Keep that EP eventually pulled off a successful defense...on the 7 day campaign, where epic battles like that rarely happen anymore. The first year we had Midyear Mayhem, I wound up leading a PUG raid that defended our Emperorship and tried to capture a Scroll.

Sure, I'm missing the extra AP. I'm at the point where it takes a lot of AP to rank up.
Sure, I'm missing the new cosmetic rewards.

I'm also missing out on crashes, lag, and many other performance issues.

But I really miss Midyear Mayhem. When its broken, its very broken. I understand why ZOS cancelled.

But when Midyear Mayhem is working, its some of the most fun I have with my friends in PVP all year. So I miss it.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result.

Nice that you mention that about repeating stuff.. do you happen to know anyone who goes from topic to topic saying the same "this is fine" type of comments that only gather the good old sarcastic Insightfuls? :)

Nope, sure cant. But i can see a lot of post where people are engaged in mind reading.

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/mind-reading

Ooh, thanks for that link, now i know what you mean, you mean the people who do the mind reading on others who wrote their opinions on a game forum and then tell them they are "over the top" or things like that because as a mind reader they also are the ultimate judges on what are the appropriate reactions people are allowed to have?

One can learn new things everyday. :)

When someone post publicly about how f'ing triggered they are right now in all caps with exclamation points, that's not mind reading to call it over the top.

As stated before in another posts, triggers are specific to ptsd. They are not just anything that annoys you when you you face a disappointment that you chose to use as an excuse to have an online temper tantrum.

Again, you are repeating the same thing.. now what did you earlier say.. something about doing something over and over again is a definition of something.. hmmm. ;)

Did you even for a moment thought about why i mentioned the whole emotional intelligence? As said, let people vent, even in caps as long as it is all inside the forum rules. It is far better to have 1 topic even on full caps, than 100 non-caps topics on the same issue. People who like to vent about things can come here for a good "group therapy" and those whom the issue does not concern do not have to read 100 topics like it messing up the whole forum.

I dont know but.. this is like you having a temper tantrum over someone you feel is having a temper tantrum and you feel they should be quiet about their feelings, thus not being allowed to say their opinions, thus.. not using a forum for what it is up here for us all. You really saying that?

If you manage to look at your behaviour for a moment from the outside, you are acting like a bully. Someone is sad for something that is important to them and said it out loud, you then come and are like "come on little crybaby what ya gonna do, gonna cry on me little ptsd child?" type of talk and wanting attention to you because too hard to just leave someone to vent without having to comment them with trigger attempts?

    Seriously omegalul. :joy:

And then linking up some psychology stuff. I know people like you. I sure do wish there comes more links. :D

There's no temper tantrum on my part. And really, you can try till the day burns down saying that up is down and left and right but it doesnt make it so. You can try to reflect back at someone the things they say that you dont want to hear but it doesnt make them true and it just make you look sad. And no someone wasnt sad, they were full tilt enraged and acting out inappropriately in a public space. ZOS even took down their post. And why do you care so much about what i said to them. What's it to you? Was that you throwing the tantrum? Venting here like that is unacceptable. It's plain and simple and wrong. There's no amount of haranguing me about it that will change it. Really at this point, you're just boring me.

The “Midyear Mayhem” event from January was not the traditional MM event; it was the result of ZOS scratching their heads to come up with another event to add to that particular Indrik cycle. That Indrik cycle occured at a time when there traditionally were not a lot of events to draw from, and they needed SOMETHING so people could get their precious ~*feathers*~

Many of us were planning on using this year’s MM to rank up our necromancers. The addition of new collectables was also something to look forward to. I even used some of my annual leave and booked myself off from work for part of MM in anticipation of the event so that I could ensure I was logged in before the campaign queues were stupid. Understand that this is our ONLY event, and that we were looking forward to it. That random MM event at the beginning of the year was NEVER meant to replace the real thing.

Seriously, what is your deal? Are you THAT lacking in empathy that you can’t understand why PVPers are disappointed that the ONE fun event we get in this game has been cancelled and put off until next year? Think of it this way: if you bought tickets to see your favourite band months ago and had booked time off from work and everything to see the show, would you not also feel disappointed if the concert was cancelled a few days prior because the arena wasn’t “ready”?

There is no backup plan for missing an expected event that grants double AP.

Except playing Cyrodiil twice as long. Well, make that longer, because generally its easy to make AP in Cyrodiil when there are tons of player around and constant fights happening, even on the new campaigns.

And while ZOS could release those cosmetic rewards for something else, the fact will remain that we should have been able to earn them doing what we loved - playing Cyrodiil, IC, or Battlegrounds, this Midyear Mayhem.

    That's not how that works...

Faction lock isn't a stabilization effort. Its an effort by ZOS to see if Faction Lock addresses some recurring issues with Cyrodiil involving AP swapping, Emp swapping, scroll trolling, and a number of other problems that have cropped up since they removed faction lock.

I mean, I've got plenty of empathy for the average player who got screwed by ZOS first allowing multifaction play and then removing that option in 2 campaigns. That sucks. I really feel for the No CP players who don't have an unlocked 7 day campaign to play it.

I do not have any sympathy for any player who used the availability of multifaction play to troll, because they did a good job of ruining it for everyone. The reason there was such a call for faction locks to be reinstated that ZOS listened to it came directly from the bad behavior of players over time. People. We're why we can't have nice things, you know?

Whereas with Midyear Mayhem its more like:

ZOS' inability to fix their game in a timely fashion is why we can't have nice things.

But just as a hypothetical, did this imaginary band have a history of not showing up for performances or of doing badly live? If so then one would think i would plan for a contingency if i couldnt get the concert i wanted.

But where is my alternative way of getting what I wouldve gotten from midyear mayhem? Cant get the double AP anywhere else, cant get the midyear Achievements and collectibles anywhere else, cant get titles anywhere else.
Thats the Thing, we got shafted and have no way of getting what we couldve gotten anywhere else until they deem Performance to be good enough to run midyear mayhem.

But many, many people were *very* vocal when people without bad intentions, not trolling, not spying, asked for a better solution than a simple faction lock, that kicked out "innocent" players.

I rarely have seen so much resentment and insulting comments before.

So no, I have no empathy for a PVP community that acts that way. They asked for a brute force approach, they got it, and now their system is messed. Well done...

Faction locks had nothing to do with performance problems.

Again, faction locks have nothing to do with this. If anything, faction locks should improve performance during Midyear Mayhem, as there’s less strain placed on the servers by people logging in and out of different characters to faction swap and maximize their AP gain.

I guess I don't see the same connection you do.

You seem to see PVP community wanting brute force approach to faction locks leading directly to ZOS taking a brute force approach with canceling Midyear Mayhem = Just Desserts.

Whereas I see them as two separate responses.

Faction lock was explicitly ZOS listening to a portion of the PVP community, and implementing it how ZOS wanted. ZOS gave CP players an unlocked option and (unfortunately) didnt give one to No CP.

Midyear Mayhem's cancellation is ZOS acting on their policy that they won't do any event that requires the broken Activity Finder. No one except ZOS is at fault for this.

Faction locks had nothing to do with performance problems.

How do you know? Did you code it?
Since faction lock was enabled, people complain about increased issues.
Never change a running system, unless you really have to and can test it in detail to avoid problems.

Cyrodiil has been a mess performancewise before, an indicator that the codebase has become so complex, that there is no quick fix. This is why ZOS announced they will focus on Update 24, hence in 4-6 months until it might get fixed.

Messing around with such complex code can have several unforseen consequences, so the quick hack that was added by pressure of the lock-fans obviously HAD some negative impact.

I've enjoyed Midyear Mayhem ever since I finally got brave enough to try it out, enough that I've considered joining a PvP guild to participate more regularly (I'm just rarely ever online during times when guilds run unfortunately) so I am pretty disappointed by the news. Especially given the fact that the performance issues are not new and there has been ample time to work on a fix.

I won't be surprised if ZoS does the usual "no ETA" and then the Undaunted event is held as scheduled, GF issues and all.

Since Elsweyr and increased player load there has been increased performance issues.
Faction lock code was in the game at the very beginning and Cyro ran much better.

People are acting like ZoS wont add an alternate to Mid-Year that will be even better than it was supposed to be, and probably last longer too as an apology.

They do usually try to do this for us. They do care about what you think, but like parents telling their child no, the children still scream unaware that the parent is saying no for a reason.

Lolololol they do? When do they? I haven't seen them offer a longer running event, actually I think this is the first event I've heard of them.scrapping.

What I have seen though is them closing every complaint about performance on this game. Why won't they say in there we are trying to fix it? Instead they ignore it......

Why do we need any events at all? If we couldn't get one for PvP why not just say "the entire game is lagging therefore we are holding back all extra content until we can resolve it"? This is an issue outside of just PvP now, but they are greedy forcing players to a dlc zone so you either need to sub or buy it.........

"We will have the fix out next year sometime".............. So for the entire year we shouldn't have events since "they are working so hard on fixing the game" events would just take away from that focus. No they are running the event figuring people will rally and support them for "fixing" the game, and then never follow through.

Idk what game you are playing where they deliver results, THINGS ARE STILL BROKEN FROM 5 YEARS AGO............. But yep they will make it up to us by robbing us of money, that is why I unsubscribed and many others as well.

You are starving for the attention, look at yourself go at it. :joy:

See how many posts you made here on this topic again, one after another, trying to get more attention.

I think eventually some people might report you for harassment, since you are saying stuff like someone having ptsd and acting like you owning the forums, spamming obvious baiting.. Just saying, so chill a bit with your forum farming. A friendly advice. :)

In any case, enjoy your public meltdown if you keep going that path.. i`ll go do some pvp before EU primetime. :D

No idea what you are going on about. Tell yourself whatever you like. BYE!

Wow a BIG F U TO THE PVP’ers. THIS TRIGGERED ME SO HARD, F*** *** ZOS!!!

If you are really triggered by this then maybe you need some professional help more than you need to play the game. Just saying. Take some time and care for your health. Attend an anger management seminar. find a new religion that doesn't disappoint you as much as your current one - which seems to be video gaming.

    Ser Brienne of Tarth. BOOM.

Yep but it was never said that would replace July's event....... 😉

And by your logic DB event happened 3 months ago........ Why are we getting it again? Makes zero sense at all.........

The encore event January actually, at least to me, performed exceedingly well. I’ve been part of IA and Chapterhouse for awhile.

I know during January CH slammed about 60 plus into Bleaks and Chal with minimum performance issues. We often were running 2-3 full raids stacked. It was a roughly 100 person dog fight at Chal. Normally when walls or doors fall there you can start to see people (all factions) disconnect, they stop moving. This occurred radically less during January with a ton more people than usual.

They did something resource wise for January (even getting into bgs was easier than today). Something seems exceedingly fishy about this cancellation. It’s utterly disappointing as they have been advised of big issues since bgs came on PTS. They ignored (aside from their generic were looking into it posts) it then why ever think they will take action now?

and the thieves / DB was in March - what's your point?

The point is you havent been cheated out of an event as has been asserted by many people. Yah it's annoying and such that your expectations werent met but you havent been cheated. AND if they had the vent in this current state of things, it would no doubt be a disaster.

SO lets go get the double mats and double stuffs and do what we can with what we have.

    that's the point.

I have over 20k of every mat...... So I'm expected to get more in place of double ap where I can get free gold jewelery?

The point is "pve event replaced one of the only PvP events due to performance" when the entire game is running like crap.

So that point means nothing lol. If the game was running this poorly they should cancel all future events and focus all their time and efforts into fixing things. But nope not important because your getting easier access to indrake mount right? Lol yep screw the people who enjoy PvP.

I dont have an indrik mount. dont care for it. To me the indrik is a reindeer, and reindeer are synonymous with christmas and i could give less than a hoot about christmas.
