I found all the Imp city books after a couple days of dedicated farming, so they shouldn't be bugged - just have to get lucky :/@DrScience42

Hands Off! - I know it is in the Aetherian Archive. Just haven't got around to getting it yet.

In case you don't know, or for anyone else looking for it, Hands Off! is ONLY found in veteran mode of AA, but as it's in the lobby room you can just port in on your own to grab it.

I did not know this. Thank you very much!

"Seek Adventure in Murkmire!" has been nowhere to be found. I tried searching for it before I started Murkmire and after I finished the entire Murkmire storyline, to no avail. Is there a special trigger for it I missed somehow?

Edit: Apparently it's visible after you finish one of the Murkmire Prologue dailies. Kinda weird, but okay.

I've done the complete Murkmire storyline and I've done 1 Murkmire Prologue daily, but "Seek Adventure in Murkmire!" still doesn't show up. I went to all 3 taverns where it should be found, but nothing...
    Is this a bug?

Is that the flyer you get during the one prologue quest? If so, you need to be on the quest (which is repeatable) to read it, I think. If I remember right, I picked up the quest and read it from my inventory. You might also be able to read it right after you pin it up on the tavern walls/posts as you do the quest.

I'd like to add "Aranias' Diary" to the list of bugged books. It's a quest item in Auridon with no way to read it after the associated quest (Final Blows)

Have you checked the college after solving the quests? Books from quests etc are mostly dropped close to the location somewhere.

The book is marked on the map. Maybe you can check it out and are lucky :)

I can confirm that many of the books from the prologue are located in the room above the Valley of Blades Stables (with the Letter to Marillan accessible via one of the bookshelves in that room). So ZOS did take care of that front, which is outstanding.

That said, I've been trying to access Searching for the Horn of Ja'darri, Part 3 for the past few minutes (I think it's one of the four papers on the table with the other 2 parts and the rubbing of the tombstone), but have had no success, probably because its interactable area is being overlapped by the other 3 books on the table.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm also not seeing the Sealed Letter (the entry that's added when you read the quest-starter item for the prologue) or Kasura's Notes located there (or anywhere else associated with the quest?). I've already heard of at least one person having an issue with the Sealed Letter not being added to their library properly, so maybe this should be looked at?

I'm one of these people. I purchased the prologue quest through the crown store, never clicked on the sealed letter in my inventory, and don't have credit for the book. Now I can't buy it again. Can you please add this to your list?

I think Kwama Breeding Research Notes (Flora) under Research Notes is broken. It's supposed to spawn on top of a barrel in Matus-Akin Egg Mine, Vvardenfell. But it isn't spawning for me. Even tried different instances.

Anyone had the same issue or found it elsewhere?

I had the same issue with books in Vvardenfell. That one, and a bunch of others, are associated with daily quests that you get from Traylan Omoril in Vivec City. This particular book is found during the Kwama Conundrum daily. The book ends up in your inventory during the quest and you have to use it to get credit. Same with the Tax Records books. They're from the Tax Deduction daily.

And I believe the "spreadsheet" is just the stuff listed and kept updated in the first post of this thread.

Sealed Letter is available post quest on Auridon at the spot where you met Abnur Tharn, so a beach in the NE if memory serves. I can confirm its readable as it was the last Elsweyr book I needed to complete that collection

@hafgood Perhaps you're misremembering or have it confused with a different book (perhaps the Sealed Imperial Summons that starts the Elsweyr prologue)? I don't believe one encounters Abnur Tharn in the prologue for Dragonguard (which is where the Sealed Letter is from). It's all about Kasura and Sai Sahan.

Could you perhaps be more specific on the location? Auridon has a lot of beachfront to search, even in the Northeast.

    Update

I've updated the section of the first post that covers the bugged books that I'm aware of. I realized that, while I've been trying to at least regularly read the posts in this thread and the other eidetic memory threads, I hadn't updated that list since last year, which meant that several books which had been fixed hadn't been removed from the list and that the Sealed Letter (which of course didn't come into play until Dragonguard) hadn't been added. I have to say, I was kind of saddened by how few of the books I was able to remove from the list, even after a year's time.

I'm sure I've missed some of the books that people have been saying are bugged here. If this is the case, please tag me with an explanation of what the book is, where it should be, and what's going on with it (similar to the entries in the first post) and I'll try to add it there as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I'm not really playing ESO all that much right now, outside of one or two trial runs a week, so I'm not as able to triple-check books myself.

Other than that, I'm not really sure. Just keep bug reporting and helping your fellow players, I guess. Hopefully, the books will get fixed at some point.

I really don't know why ZOS doesn't consider us worthy of attention. They fix one of the bugged books every 6 months, but we have a long list of those.... They often don't understand which book we are speaking about, and answer with unappropriate words... I do understand that is more important to fix other kind of bugs, but we are players like PVP-lovers, DPS-lovers and Do-Nothing-But-Trials players... Some guilders of mine say that I prefer to pick daisies than to actually play ESO, but I think that hunting lorebooks is also playing ESO.
Thank you guys for this useful thread. Hope they listen to us.

I am looking for Crow and Raven: Three Short Fables from the Eidetic Memory - Tales of Tamriel library.

Just curious about the popup info from Lorebooks. So the green info (Tamriel) would indicate, that this book can be found in ANY bookshelf in ANY zone? And the blue zones are "known" zones, where it was found already, or have the highest chance to actually find this particular book?

    Thanks.

Do the books change in bookshelves ?

For example if i search all the bookshleves in a zone for a certain book and not find it, the next day it might appear in the previously searched bookshelves ?

    Stuck on ;

Found it in a bookshelf in normal Crypt of Hearts 1 (inspired by this post). So now only missing Dead-Water Riddle Fragment and Sealed Letter. *sigh*

Depends. The reshuffle of books seems to differ for different zones. Some zones reshuffle on a timer (daily, weekly, whatever), some seem to reshuffle on logout/login or changing zones back and forth. I started to note down books in "sample" bookshelves, and then check the same bookshelves first to see if they changed.

Sorry did not notice there was a volume two of this thread

Not sure in Craglorn, haven't got these two books yet (last books for me in Craglorn - Eidetic Memory):

    1. Skyreach Explorer Vol IV, in Skyreach Catacombs. I was able to see the book from below where I stand but don't know how to get there. Several times I tried to find a way to get there but unsuccessful.

    2. Quartermaster's Notes in Sanctum Ophidia trial. It said the book is on the stairs before combating the Serpent. Tried to found it with no luck. Destination addon was not operating functionally inside the dungeon/trial

I used an addon "Destinations" with the Eidetic Memory books undiscovered option on.

Maybe anyone have an experience in successfully obtaining these two books in Craglorn?

Nvm, got the skyreach explorer vol 4, the books' location was near the exit hallway after defeating the last boss (before jumping)

Still not sure about the Quartermaster's Notes however in SO trial dungeon?

I am down to my last few books left before Greymore drops and I know at least 2 are/were bugged before the pts but was curious if anyone had any info on where these could be.

    By the Master’s Mace

Folly of man (I know it is in the study hall in illumination academy, but want to know if there is a way to get back in there or a post quest location yet)

Dead water riddle fragment (I’m assuming still bugged)

Sealed letter (also assuming still bugged)

I am on Xbox so no add-ons and have done all the quests so I’d either need a way to redo them or a post quest location. If anyone could help me out that would be great!

By the Master's Mace: After the Fighters Guild questline, it should be in your home faction capital's Fighters Guild. For example my EP character can find it in Mournhold in the eastern corner of the Fighters Guild practice yard tucked under a cushion.

Folly of Man has no post quest location as far as I know, nor can you get back into the study hall.

Dead Water Fragment is still bugged with no post quest location

Seal Letter is also still bugged with no post quest location (as far as I know).

You can get back into the room with the book "Folly of Man". You just need to group up with somebody who is doing the quest. I had to do this to get it on my main as well.

Back down to just 2 books. Both of which had to be read in the VERY short time the item was in your quest log, giving no indication that you needed to read them. They both also have no post-quest location, and have not for more than a year, even though it's been reported regularly by many, many people.

When are these going to be fixed @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_GinaBruno ?

The only Western Skyrim book I'm missing is "The Reach's Progress" in Solitude Soliloquies.

UESP says it's in the smuggler tunnels during Crisis at Dragon Bridge - the same tunnels you blow up the entrances to as a part of the quest. Does anyone know a post-quest location? I'm on console and don't have access to coordinates or add-ons. Thank you!

I just collected the very same book this morning. It’s indeed located in the Smugglers’ Tunnels which can still be accessed even after the quest has been completed. I entered the cave through the waterfall near Dragon’s Bridge.
