Well, I put on Armor Master and yet I got hit by a sorc doing 9.5K crit frags on me with 4.5K non-crit Daedric Prey and another 4.5K non-crit Zap from the Matriarch at the same time. I'm actually quite happy with my build, because Cloak and the element of surprise still counts for a lot, but the best I've hit other - squishier - players with Caluurion for is about 10K. This guy was proccing 9.5K crit frags on me every 2 seconds. This isn't even funny anymore. It is not like you can get through a sorcs shield while they hit you THAT hard. Just how exactly ZOS screwed up the class balance, I don't know, but they did. A magblade I fought shortly afterwards hit me like a wet noodle by comparison, even as they procced Assassin's Will.

Many people are saying shields are stronger than before, but I don't think they're talking about magblades. Unfortunately I don't play sorc, thus have no first hand experience, but it seems to me like if sorcs are complaining, they just haven't found the new meta yet. I certainly see a lot of them with twilights and no scamp, these days.

I guess you can call me stupid for not avoiding the Daedric Prey explosion. I'm not the best dueller, but I also can't run every time I have that stupid curse on me. A well sorted sorc has shields that work. I tried to shield. I got Armor Master to improve the shield. It seemed to work against some people (the nightblade), but that sorc was OP. It's hard to calibrate your expectations. This was in IC, but the sorc did not run Imperial Physique. We're talking about an open world build, here, not a duelling one. Sorc was holding his own in a later AvA fight.

PetSorc is broken af but i won’t complain, instead of sorcs getting nerfed magblades will get nerfed instead like last time

Might delete my AD toons to make room for Necro and make another sorc, magblades are going to get nerfed every update, it’s obvious at this point

Instead of armor master i wear fortified brass. My survivability went skyhigh combined with pirate skeleton. But of course my damage or sustain went down. You can't have both defence, damage or sustain on a magblade. The trick is not getting hit by anyone but even then magblade damage is not enough to gank and oneshot anyone, unless it's another magblade.
If you do gank someone and they are decent players, they have their defence up, heal to full and dish out way more damage. And yes, sorcs and DK and Warden do that pretty good. And stamblades just roll away from the battlefield.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I have found my sweet spot when it goes to in general stats balance, but TBH my damage is pretty laughable. I can gank LA and MA armor users but all the rest is out of my range when it goes to ganking, but because of no mobility and cloak being usless against anyone with at least half of a brain I had to create more of a brawler build. It works in 1v1, 1v2 scenarios (if at least one enemy is squishier) but when heavily outnumbered I simply evaporate. Magblade needs some mobility, and some additional burst options.

When it goes to burst, something like final tick of cripple could do some bursty blow - this way it couldn't be spamed, couldn't be used for ganking but would help a lot to create some openings.

Snare removal, well I have 2 candidates:
Both morphs of path of darkness could give snare and root immunity as long as NB stays on the path or add snare and root immunity to double take for each LA piece equipped, to make it more or less equal to Shuffle.
    Say no to Toxic Casuals!
I am doing my best, but I am not a native speaker, sorry.

Man, we’ve talked a few times & never had any issues. But do you even play anymore?
Do you even play magblade anymore?

    You’re the nightblade class representative.
I never see you in Cyrodiil, I don’t see you responding on the forums, I know that NDA stuff is like shackles to some extent, but it just means you have to watch your wording, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t allowed to comment with a personal opinion or take part in a debate.

I believe the class has changed a lot since I’ve last heard you comment & am anxious to hear your current thoughts. I thought at one point you even use to make build vids.

I’m not going to say everyone on the forums is intelligent, I know with a lot of topics I’m not, but I feel like we’ve been having pretty decent respectable debates here & there has been some distance & maybe even lost touch with the community; when I thought the position of class rep was to some extent supposed to be “the voice of the community”.

    Anxiously awaiting your reply,
    -Kai

We have some division of duties in the Rep program. I am the primary eyes on over half of the discords, totaling 8 out of 12, and am active over there. A few of the reps prefer not to join the discords and are highly active on the forums, and a few of us prefer discord. Yes I do still play in Cyrodiil and am heavily involved with the community, but I may not be highly visible in all places at all times.

I also have a lot of work with Legend in game. Check out our upcoming tournament! (I'm logging onto the forums now to announce it)

Since so many people are using snare immunity these days (including me!) I switched my frost staff for a resto staff today, and although my tooltips in battlegrounds seem not so great (7.5k for malevolent offer, 12k over 20sec. on mutagen) it still seems to be reasonably beneficial to my and my team's performance. Can't wait till swallow soul is no longer reflected though.
Since I don't have too much experience with healing (read barely no) what are considered the must have healing skills on a magblade's healing bar? Currently my heal bar looks like this: mutagen - swallow soul - cloak - siphoning - healthy offering.

Just wish healthy offering did something to make it useful in 1vs1. Is that the advisable morph for pvp by the way, or is shrewd offering the better one? Also, am I correct that if I spam it on my entire team the damage I take is also multiplied?

Most use Healthy Offering for the Minor Mending.

You can spam it as much as you want but each time you cast it you add an 8 second self DoT.

There is a cap on how many ticks you can have on yourself but eventually it will become too much, especially if you are being pressured.

In my opinion, I think healthy/shrewd offering could have been a MUCH COOLER skill, had they implemented a mechanic to "exchange the enemies health" instead of your own.

For instance, if you're in a fight & it's 2v2 or greater, you can extract the blood/health of opponent 1 & give it to opponent 2.
This is cool, because it sets up unique fight scenarios where you just put opponent 1 in execute range or made him/her sacrifice themselves to their teammate. It "could" act like a DOT, possibly purgable, where it would siphon health from one enemy to the other.
The other morph could also be a DOT that you would put on a teammate to siphon health from them to yourself. That way the DOT damage is being placed on a "more survivable character" such as a tank or healer who will not be as effected by the skill as much as a squishy nightblade.

    Thoughts?

    P.S.
If you don't want a DOT per se, you could make it work similar to malubeth scourge or the alliance war skill Guard, where there is a beam between 2 players.

Personally I don’t like swallow soul. For dps/healing mix I go:
    BRP destro front, resto back
Mass hysteria, blockade, impale, frost ring (impulse), double take - Soul Siphon
Healthy Offering, Rapid regen, Combat prayer, refreshing path, shadowy disguise - Soul Siphon

Once I stopped using NB damaging abilities and only abilities that can’t be reflected it was pretty eye opening. My damage sky rocketed, I knew they were there but never knew it was to such an extent.

Combat prayer is to make up for no merciless, impale because how I play it’s all aoe pressure so I need to kill steal with impale to get killing blows. I like to think of it as healing and dps support while also being able to break 3k points.

I don’t know if it’s a good idea, but if you like melee dps magblade with forward momentum I’m dying to try a melee magblade 2H/resto with dark cloak. If melee magblade gets some love I’m going to change my stamblade to mag and give it a go. Skills and gear swopping’s too expensive to do it in my main.

Anyone tried engine guardian? Magblade healers are sorta like pve tanks in that all 3 resources are useful.

Stam’s always an issue for me, I got too used to dodge rolling from playing wild star and probably do it too much. Someone mentioned using blood spawn as a healer in the earthgore thread, I’m thinking of switching out nightflame and am hoping some people have tried nightflame, blood spawn, and engine guardian and can share their experiences.

For my healer NB, I dropped Bogdan because it doesn't synergize with my mobility healing (Chokethorn does though).

Bloodspawn isn't necessary as I run Pariah and can achieve 33k-35k in resistances already.

I use EG for my damage NB. Works great to interfere with single target damage. Just pay attention to the guardians and take advantage of them (i.e. if it's green you can run, block or dodge roll more than usual).

I’ve ran this and just about any other possible version of Amberplasm+Dmg set. (Destro not 2H.)

Easily one of the densest sets for stats.

Yeah the only nice thing about it is when it reflects it doesn't do the bonus execute damage.

I've never tried it when I was also low on health so I'm not sure if you could actually execute yourself.

I'm currently debating which monster set to go for. Zaan is locked behind a DLC dungeon that I'm not buying so is out of reach. Slimecraw seems somewhat nice as we are loosing minor berserk from ability. It's roughly a 5% actual damage increase. How does Grothdarr interact with cloak, will there be big swirling circles giving away my position?

Combat prayer is to make up for no merciless, impale because how I play it’s all aoe pressure so I need to kill steal with impale to get killing blows. I like to think of it as healing and dps support while also being able to break 3k points.

I don’t know if it’s a good idea, but if you like melee dps magblade with forward momentum I’m dying to try a melee magblade 2H/resto with dark cloak. If melee magblade gets some love I’m going to change my stamblade to mag and give it a go. Skills and gear swopping’s too expensive to do it in my main.

I love impale and use it, but it can be reflected. I'm guessing you know that, but wanted to point it out to others that might not know and assume (from bolded text above) that it's not reflectable.

Yeah the only nice thing about it is when it reflects it doesn't do the bonus execute damage.

I've never tried it when I was also low on health so I'm not sure if you could actually execute yourself.

I'm not sure, but with Elsweyr it will be half damage instead of reflect anyway.

Magblade has perma cloak but that really seems like the only truly strong thing it has (except fear which is only OP becuase of a bug)
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

Maybe you guys should reconsider your build. No class can go full damage/recovery and the slotting light recovery set/light sustain set/offensive monster set meta has ended with shield changes. Now build that implements resistances are really, really good. I don’t know the exact build but I’ve seen many nbs running with 24kish hp without hp food, with unlimited sustain, pirate skelly and still being able to 1vX and 1v1 with great results (and they were not big names too).

It's not that simple, no one here denies that you can 1vx bad players, hell i can do that with 3 offensive.

Agreed. The issue is moreso that melee magblades use the cal, zaan recovery to gank still for burst. Ranged magblades are dealing with reflections so feel underpowered. Magblade healers are using higher resistances but trying to figure out the best way to be able to still deal some damage with the state of ranged magblades.

That seems to be what’s shaping magblade’s opinions.

A high resistance melee magblade could work well, but damage would be an issue because you need 2 hander for forward momentum and 2 handers don’t synergize with magicka.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

This build is solely for 2H as it gives you plenty of sustain on mag and stam as well as the snare removal with forward momentum. The crutch is on a heavy damage monster set in zaan with a well timed burst. Skoria was viable as well but with the change to refreshing path I don’t run enough dots to make the uptime viable unfortunately.

My favourite setup atm is Necro/Shackle/BRP Resto bb/Valk:
    Merciless/Crushing/Reach/Fear/Inner/Tether or SA
    Siphoning/Crippling/Wardy ally /Rapid Regen/Shade/Temporal
Simple, all out dmg but works for me even on aussie 400+ ping if I play well
Guild Leader Rats of Tobruk (RoT) DC PVP Guild
    Jacome Enakis (DC NB)
    Jacome Dibella (DC Sorc)
    Tealc Enakis (DC DK)
    Jacome Lightbringer (DC Templar)
    Jacome Gro-Longenfirm (DC Sorc)
Baron Humbert Von Gikken (DC Warden)

That’s been a stable meta for a while now some swap for 1p1p and vMA resto but can’t go wrong with this setup. If I’m going destro / resto I have been using necro + bright throat + 1p 1p and rocking like 58k max mag and 2200 recovery lol. I use the stam morph of siphoning strikes to upkeep my stam.

In BGs or cyrodiil? Why bother with recovery since you’ll die so quickly, or is it a ganking build?

I should have specified he was using resto/destro. Also, I tried dueling him and with 7th and spriggan my 17k tooltip uppercut was hitting for a whopping 3,5k while his merciless was hitting for 6k non crit. After something like 10 min we withdrew as we couldn’t kill each other. I know I’m a bit rusty since I’m playing only one day a week with 140 ping but the it felt like his mitigation and healing were simply too much while I dropped few times to 20%ish hp. Should have asked for his build

Why would I die so quickly? I have monster shields and shadow image with cloak. Why wouldn’t you want recovery with 58k max mag lol

i see you dropped Skooma Smuggler in favor of Auroran's thunder.
i'm still having trouble deciding between the two.
why did you make that decision eventually?
do you have an alternative source of major expedition? or you gave up on it altogether?
is the auroran's thunder damage really is the difference between a kill and a fail? is it worth the 30% speed loss?

    appreciate your insight.
