Return of Abnur Tharn and Mannimarco ?
Hmm... This smells the smell of the imperial incursion. Never two without three... The count of Skingrad is definitely a antagonist profil ? (I say this in the absence of concrete information about who is the antagonist and factions involved about chapter 3).
I imagine that the final zone of this new story will be Colovia and county Skingrad ?

*EDIT* Derp ... yes, they're most definitely around in this timeline. I was super tired when I wrote that, and obviously my brain wasn't working correctly.

For all those against necromancers as a class.

Yisareh in Dragon Bones admits in her dialogue in Fang Lair that the Undaunted use Necromancy openly, including the use of blood altars, bone shields, and the making of masks from slain beasts with properties or abilities of said enemy.

    According to the book Corpse Preparation, which can be found on UESP the following nations approve of necormancy in Tamriel;
*The Empire, presumably Nibenay specifically because of Colovia's religious attitudes, supports or turns a blind eye to Necromancy. They even provide corpses of criminals for Necromancers that have served the Empire.
*Morrowind slavers supposedly sell the corpses of slaves to Sload in Tear.
*Elsweyr are indifferent to grave robberies, and in Senchal, corpses can be bought
*Summerset allows necromancy practiced in the open, if the one practicing it is particularly notable or of a notable family line. For example an upstanding noble or scholar. Other races that are caught practicing necromancy? Well, my heart goes out to them.
*Orsinium's opinion is as far as this book goes, unknown.

According to the in-game lorebook Ancestors and the Dunmer (abridged), Morrowind turns a blind eye to necromancy practiced on n'wah, as they are considered little more than animals. The Dunmer do also practice necromancy in that they communicate with their ancestors by summoning them or using them as guardians for their crypts.

As far as I know, all other nations disapprove of necromancy.

Even so, necromancy is valid as a skill to be used in ESO, even if illegal. Nightblades, for example, are according to the lore outlaws and thieves for the most part. Sorcerers are conjurers that summon Daedra willy-nilly, sure as Hell without approval of the Mages Guild. Even if the Mages Guild dogma frowns on Necromancy, it is fully justified as a class.

Some quick reactions – I don’t have yet had the time to read everything, so sorry in case of repetitions.

I am not too worried about the inclusion of Dragons in Second Era Elsweyr. The teaser pictures included a broken Dragon, hinting, I think, that we’re about to get into some of the very weird time-lore of TES, and I like it a lot. Moreover, the Dragon War was probably to big an event to be confined within Skyrim’s borders. The fact that there were once Rhojiiti (and we know nothing yet about those) in Skyrim also hints at a connexion between the Lunar folk and the Dragons. I hope we learn more about it.

I am not too worried about Necromancy being suddenly “authorized” as we get into Elsweyr. There’s a text about the preparation of corpses which states that the people of Elsweyr are ok with selling corpses to Sload airships (I hope we see those).

Elsweyr might be a land where fugitives and renegades go hide, maybe fledgeling Ayleids escaping the Alessian pogroms, and renegade Dragons fleeing from the Dragonguard. There might still be some in hiding there.

About water-magic being tied to necromancy, I think it fits more in the ES universe than ice magic. Indeed, water is where memories of the dead flow when they die, which obviously pertains necromancy. And the Sload necromancers use water-based magic.

What I am more worried about is how accurate they’ll play with the Lunar Lattice. Will we see massive tigers and telepathic cats? Humanlike Ohmes? I hope they don’t butcher that lore.

I hope we’ll see spellcrafting and a sequel to the vanilla dungeons which don’t have one yet in future updates… :-s

And this is were I stop playing ESO. Altho I've been waiting a long time for khajiiti lands to be implemented, even if this is a dragonbreak point of view on the timeline, for me it breaks to much lore.

Bethesda made a huge bust with fo76, and it seems tha they try to make up with a necromancer class wich doesnt make sense. Yes, everyone has asked for it, but implentation is troublesome to say the least.
    1. Its banned by the magesguild, so how would a necromancer be allowed to join after mannimarco?
    2. People are generally afraid of corpseraising, so how would questing go?

Huge problems indeed. And no, Dragons in this Era are not canon! Every TES fan with a shred of diginity would say the same.

Also the ongoing crownstore, while bugs from 2014 and onwards arent fixed is just downright sad.

If (and thats the biggest if so far in my life) they mamage to make our expectations true, I'll consider comming back, but so far to me this is a desperate move from a dying gamedeveloperstudio who used to be top notch, to keep their reputation and playerbase intact.

Yea, I am pretty sure that ZOS will read this and cancel the next chapter. Change is common in an MMO and new lore has to be created every now and then to keep the engines moving. It's not like they are trying to wonk the real human history, they are just filling in the blanks for a fictional world's prequel story. There is no single source of historical truth in the TES series, no compendium as such, nothing can be held sacrosanct

    Actually there is......

sounds awesome. i'm interested in how some of the lore will fit in but i mean the chapters gunna cost the same amount as other chapters if they want to add a huge amount of stuff into it, and do it well, i can't see a problem.

Plus Bethesda doesn’t make this game, Zenimax Studios does. Bethesda just consults so lore isn't messed up. Two different studios that happen to be owned by the same parent company.

EDIT for previous statement: Nevermind misread the comment.

However: Just because ZoS makes the game, it does not mean anything lore wise. They would HAVE to consult BGS by default as they have the most experience and have built the law for over a decade. it would not make sense business wise in games for a studio with no experience to have total control of the law of a decades old product. They would have no choice but to consult BGS.

I think it’s a given that Necromancy is a class based off that Necromancer costume listed. We had the same thing with Wardens. I would be pretty shocked if ZOS played it off as a skill line instead of a class, I feel a class offers much more to the game and be worth the investment. I also suspect update 21 to buff Khajiit to help sell Elsweyr. They need a buff anyways and it’s good timing. People made a crap ton of Altmer for Summerset, expect the same for the cat people.

I'm psyched for Elsweyr, but not for dragons or necromancy. Dragons were a giant PITA in Skyrim. After doing the main quest on my first character, I avoided the that storyline at all costs on subsequent playthroughs. I can't imagine the ZoS version will be much fun. Necromancers, from what I've seen of their in-game implementation as enemies, don't look like they'd be that engaging. But, who knows? Like everything class-related, I'll probably at least give it a test run eventually.

That said, a land full of Khajiits? Sign me up! <3 I've wanted to spend time in Elsweyr since I spoke to my first Khajiit in Skyrim seven years ago.

Back in Daggerfall.... my girl was a Khajiit, clad in the catsuit. SO MUCH FUN. Missed it ever since.

ESO *is* dead to many communities. That doesn't mean there's absolutely no activity. It means the game no longer properly supports the kind of gameplay they bought ESO for. For example, AvA and proper raiding.

We all know it's not dead to Crown store consumers who basically play a TES themed Sims game.

PS: No gamer is impressed that ESO was a $10 Steam sale best seller. Gah. Talk about grasping at straws.
PSS: I love ZOS artists. I think ZOS hired some of the best in the business. But the leadership of this company stinks.
