Does that mean I can actually turn in my writs without 17 winged twilights hovering over the boxes?

    :)

Not all of us do that. My crafter is a Pet Sorc and unless she's moving to/from making gear sets I keep her pets turned off. But, yeah, in congested areas, it's just good manners to nix them, as is stowing unused assistants.

I did the Gryphon WB in Summerset today, and when the second boss was on the ground, or when both were down, my familiar died every 10 seconds, it was ridiculous. The summoning is indeed a little better, but it kept dying almost immediately, it'd have been better not to slot it at all.

I appreciate that you consider others . That's my major beef with pet builds.

    I agree. Thank you.

It was so bad one time in Summerset, I had to crouch stealth and go behind the boxes because there were so many stupid twilights flapping around. I couldn’t interact.

    Hi all,

Just confirming that this issue was fixed in this morning's incremental patch on PC/Mac. Here's the patch note:
Player pets will now take 85% less damage from all Area of Effect and Damage over Time attacks. They will continue to take 100% less damage from all attacks in group dungeons, trials, and arenas.

I think it's good that people won't be able to use their pet as a crutch to get through VMA and as for things like dolmens and dungeon, you really should be able to complete that without pets. At least now you can use them to get your dps up in end game trials where they weren't wanted before.

Uh, it's not a crutch to make a build centered around Class skills that are there to be used and relied on. Saying people are using pets as a crutch is pretty ridiculous, as that's essentially saying anyone relying on any set of skills or strategies is just using a crutch.

Pets are as much a part of a Sorc's skillset as any other method of DPS. What's the difference between using pets as a 'crutch' and using any other means of DPS? Your DPS is going to be coming from something. By your logic, any means of getting higher DPS could be seen as a 'crutch'.

Telling people who use pets as a component of their build they should be able to clear content without using that component of their build is stupid and makes no sense. People use pet builds because that's what's fun for them, and because they don't want to have to play some other build they didn't like as much. What right do you have to come in saying "lol no that's not the right way to play you shouldn't have to use pets go play the Class this way instead"?

My pets are a crutch for me.... My lag averages 2000 ms - which means that I depend on the pets to mitigate that a bit. It's not perfect, but certainly better than for instance, trying to kill something on my stamblade (now retired to secondary crafter....)

I want a Class respect since they destroyed this build.

Respect your class, and your class will respect you. The petsorc still works. It's arguably better now for PvE, because of the changes to pet mechanics.

Lmao xD Pets are garbage now. You can respect a gutted class all you want but it is still gutted. Even I feel bad watching the little critters being turned into toast. Zos, really needs to listen to the playerbase on this one.

Good post Op! I hope they fix the pet sorcy for everyone that likes it. :)

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom . So is this going to manifest itself on console tomorrow or not? Even though a fix has been implemented on PC, past experience suggests us console players will still get presented with some old buggy version of the game.

Pets can still die in dungeons. I was in Crypt of Hearts 1 yesterday doing the pledge and the second boss killed my twilight. So everyone beware.

The more I hear about these things, the more I don't want the patch to come to consoles. Like, I'm hoping I can adapt... I don't want to just give up on my sorcerers.

Won't have to, judging by the amount of pets you can still see being obnoxious everywhere.

VMA is solo and rely on your skills. You can't be carried.

Tell that to the dude that finished vMA using literally nothing but light attacks. Since the next buzz word in nerf threads is "carry", that guy was def carried by his lovely setup. Became a literal slow-ish paced point and click. A beautiful thing to watch if we're being honest. Inspiring for the creativity and simplicity of it all, but def a carry, since no skills were used, at all. He died only once.
