Not all of us do that. My crafter is a Pet Sorc and unless she's moving to/from making gear sets I keep her pets turned off. But, yeah, in congested areas, it's just good manners to nix them, as is stowing unused assistants.

I appreciate that you consider others . That's my major beef with pet builds.
Player pets will now take 85% less damage from all Area of Effect and Damage over Time attacks. They will continue to take 100% less damage from all attacks in group dungeons, trials, and arenas.

Does that mean PetSorcs are still alive and breathing?
I think it's good that people won't be able to use their pet as a crutch to get through VMA and as for things like dolmens and dungeon, you really should be able to complete that without pets. At least now you can use them to get your dps up in end game trials where they weren't wanted before.

Uh, it's not a crutch to make a build centered around Class skills that are there to be used and relied on. Saying people are using pets as a crutch is pretty ridiculous, as that's essentially saying anyone relying on any set of skills or strategies is just using a crutch.
Pets are as much a part of a Sorc's skillset as any other method of DPS. What's the difference between using pets as a 'crutch' and using any other means of DPS? Your DPS is going to be coming from something. By your logic, any means of getting higher DPS could be seen as a 'crutch'.
Telling people who use pets as a component of their build they should be able to clear content without using that component of their build is stupid and makes no sense. People use pet builds because that's what's fun for them, and because they don't want to have to play some other build they didn't like as much. What right do you have to come in saying "lol no that's not the right way to play you shouldn't have to use pets go play the Class this way instead"?

Sorry couldn’t resist.

Respect your class, and your class will respect you. The petsorc still works. It's arguably better now for PvE, because of the changes to pet mechanics.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom Could you please clarify: does VMA count as a Trial?
They will continue to take 100% less damage from all attacks in group dungeons, trials, and arenas.

I missed the operative word... but why exclude VMA, is my next question.

VMA is solo and rely on your skills. You can't be carried.
