Recently I have been playing with Scathing Mage. Why nobody uses it anymore? Is BSW better?

Siroria would probably better than Juli in some marginal scenarios. The minor slayer only works in trials and dungeons, so for world bosses, PvP and other content, it's 0 benefit, and as you mention, it requires you to stand completely still for an extended time, which doesn't work in most new trial and dungeon content, and absolutely not in PvP.
So my BSW/Juli/Zaan setup works great in all the content I do on a daily basis, mostly world bosses and that daily BG match for the reward box, and even when doing trials or dungeons it's a very decent setup. The most flexible and easy I can think of, and with little or no drawbacks.
I just read the opposite about it on this post:

According to it, BSW's uptime is only higher than Scathing Mage on a DK. It refers to Morrowind, but those sets have not been changed.
Also, I feel that the up-time should be quite high when coupled with Julianos since together bring crit chance to just over 50%
Mechanical Acuity only makes sense now if you rely very much on direct damage.Well, how about Scathing Mage with Mechanical Acuity? I bet the up-time in that case is much higher

But I think the problem with force pulse magsorc is the horrible sustain. For vMA why don't you use pet? In trial pet is a problem because they steal heal and buffs from players but in vMA and 4 man dungeon pets just make things so much easier.
Agree. I don't like Mothers Sorrow or Mechanical. I don't know. Personal preference.Julianos.
alcast.com has a decent option w/o S. take a look
Haven't brought my sorc into VMA for awhile.. but this would be what I'd try. Keep in mind I run crushing shock as it just seems too handy in there, haha.
Mech Ac / Julianos, asylum front, VMA back (if no VMA, just a random stave with a regen 2pc bonus)

This would only work without 2 piece monster set, which I'm not very keen on.
Let's focus the conversation a bit - Magsorc with CRUSHING SHOCK for VMA, NO PETS
