    Been here since beta.

One of my favourite times was 1.6 PvP.

Best DLC for me was Orsinium DLC

Was in beta. Returned last September because of Morrowind. Didn't buy the game at the start because the game wasn't translated to my native language (and still isn't) and I didn't have friends with good English knowledge to play with (have now)

I'm wondering how many of y'all are beta players, have the cute little beta monkey. What's y'alls thoughts on ESO back during the beta, launch, and now. When was your favorite patch, DLC, etc..

I did the beta weekends, which was enough for the monkey, but not enough for the super secret club and handshake.

ESO was not really ready for release during those weekends, or even during the early access period, or even the first couple weeks after launch. It had a lot of potential, though. I think it really started to come together as a game about 6 months after it launched. At 6 months they had finally gotten a grip on the bot problem, opened up PTS, introduced the crafting writs, added the guild traders, and had finally fixed a bunch of the bugs. Basically, started fleshing out the game and making it something more than just assorted main quests and Cyrodiil.

Worst update was Tamriel Unlimited (January 2015 through June 2015), which seems to be the result of a number of gaps in execution, or failure to operationalize, going back to before launch. They had stuff they needed to do, and do right, and in a timely manner, and they really didn't. In my mind, the result of that was Tamriel Unlimited.

Fortunately, they self-corrected after TU. I think that the best update was One Tamriel, when they opened up the world and cut the cord for leveled zones. Wasn't perfect, still isn't, but that was the real turning point of the game. Since then, the game has been picking up some good momentum.

Personally I kind of liked the beta more than the actual game. I remember when it felt like an actual accomplishment to beat a dungeon or boss, and the game wasn't 75% RNG. Oh and the races being in certain factions made sense, we didn't have a bunch of orcs and nords running around the AD area. When we thought our race choice would actually matter.

I was first phase closed. though it was rough it was more of an MMO. things started to get weird Post IC update. the game took a drastic change and i quit about 2016 for good. i did get suckered into Morrowind I played about 20 levels of warden and was not having fun. I follow the forums because i like to see the community disscussions on the game design. was hoping Matt would listen to the people who stuck around and not the turn style crown splrugers , but he found his cash cow and will milk her till she dies.

Played the beta, got the monkey, but not a guy.

I actually like the game a lot more now than during the betas. I still don't fully understand it but it always just left me wanting to play either Skyrim or Guild Wars 2, when it should have been a perfect combination of the two. But I bought it when it switched to Buy-to-Play because £12 for a copy and no requirement to subscribe was much lower commitment and therefore risk, and I've pretty much been here ever since.

I really like the One Tamriel update, it's made it feel a lot more like the single player TES games where you can do most things in any order, and it made the world seem a lot busier because everyone is in together instead of split by alliance. My main character still does everything in the original order, but it made my alts seem less redundant because they can focus on different things, or the same things in a different order.

I still remember the Beta, truly hell i must say, the bug in BC last boss, the main quest bugged, the DKs destroying everything in PvP wearing light armor.

Amaizing what ZoS did to this game, from the worst game ever, to the best MMO by three years in a row. I always use my senche mount proud, in memory of my fallen friends, who left ESO in "bug fest".

I was in the beta, got the monkey and everything. My favorite update was 1T. I’ve played too many zone-to-zone progression MMOs and I have come to the conclusion that being able to go where I want when I want is a vastly superior experience - especially at max level.

I just don’t like being limited to a handful of endgame zones that are actually relevant while the rest become completely pointless. Just a waste, imo.

My second favorite update was the removal of vet ranks and the addition of champion points. I never understood what made vet ranks different from normal levels, but they were basically just the “true max level” and character progression basically stopped there. They didn’t do much to change the endgame dynamic.

CPs on the other hand, are not based on basic character stats like normal levels. Instead, they offer additional incremental stat boosts that can actually change they way a character is specialized, ultimately adding more room for tinkering and build customization at max level as a reward for continued play. They don’t present the same “I’ve hit max level, now what?”, that I’m used to with other MMOs.

Heaven knows why people feel the need to announce themselves as female, I mean I'm one too but I certainly dont feel the need to correct peoples gender titles everywhere I go. Perhaps this is why 'Peoplekind' is such a meme these days ugh.

Anyway I've been around since before Beta. Don't like the game as it has changed though - I find it essentially pointless progression wise with the CP/Scaling (Yawn BORING), am far more of a social player and there are far better games for that. Whatever this anti-social paradise is supposed to be at this point, its not really for me.

I still drop back and forth though. I'm nosey like that ^_^

I remember beta. All the problems trying to group with people. The absurd crafting they tried to introduce. The weird addition of veteran levels.

I like the game a lot better now, except for the ridiculous dependence on RNG, the store, and gambling boxes.

    Beta, Nov 2013.

Have monkey, and the 2 mudcrabs... though the window says one is purchased in the crown store, and the other was for convention/mudcrab plush purchase. Never been to con, no plush, never bought a crab in the store... they have been there for me since the start. I don't recall why early players were awarded Nibenay and Rufous mudcrabs.

At launch, it was/is my theory that investors were tired of waiting and wanted something sell-able pushed through. I have no proof of that, just my theory. So many bugs, it really felt unfinished. But I didn't mind all that much.

Completed Cadwells Gold on a stam nightblade, in VR zones, first. I found it to be a very painful experience. After that, a templar with self heals... I found the VR experience much easier then. Not sure how much of it was an l2p issue, bug/tweaking issue, lack of quality gear, or combination of things.

I'm here for the story and aesthetics. Today, I don't get bent out of shape over easy vs. hard like so many people are... If it was still as tough as it was at launch, I'd still be here regardless. Also my days of slamming my head against raid/trial bosses are long over. Had enough of chasing gear to.

Point is, I don't play for the same reasons as the majority do, so my opinion on the state of the game is probably worthless. But it's good enough to be my main hobby.

You probably got the Prima Collector's Edition of the game.

The Nibenay mudcrab was part of the Imperial Edition (digital & physical collectors editions of the base game) and the Rufous mudcrab was a bonus if you got it from Prima. Although it also came from a bunch of other places - lots of fan sites were giving away codes early on, either ones they got from conventions or ones they were given by ZOS to give away.
