Here here! I was super excited to get in beta, but I’m also very happy that game has changed since then.

I’m not particulary suprised to find so many beta players are still around!

Former beta player here, was invited into the closed beta in November (2013 I think). Sometimes I run around with my beta monkey pet to show off my beta-ness.

Yeah 2013, I accidentally wrote 2016, have butt picking monkey too xD

    Beta, Nov 2013.

Have monkey, and the 2 mudcrabs... though the window says one is purchased in the crown store, and the other was for convention/mudcrab plush purchase. Never been to con, no plush, never bought a crab in the store... they have been there for me since the start. I don't recall why early players were awarded Nibenay and Rufous mudcrabs.

You probably got the Prima Collector's Edition of the game.

The Nibenay mudcrab was part of the Imperial Edition (digital & physical collectors editions of the base game) and the Rufous mudcrab was a bonus if you got it from Prima. Although it also came from a bunch of other places - lots of fan sites were giving away codes early on, either ones they got from conventions or ones they were given by ZOS to give away.

Yes I have physical Imperial Collector's pre order. Sold the Molag Bal statue though, because it was plastic. Love the book and map though!

Just paly since pc start. Best time was 1.5 for me.
PVP Saint-Bud magicka Templar: AR 49
PVE Lord Victarion mDK : dro'm-Athra-Destroyer pre Morrowind retired for crafting
PVE Ramsay-Bolton magicka NB: Voice of Reason Clockwork City Patch retired
VAA hm/ VHRC hm/ VSO hm/ VMOL hm/ VHOF hm/ VAS hm clear

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

    Beta player here.

I think that the game has improved in some ways, in other ways it hasn't. I am especially not fond of how much RNG has been introduced into the game, how things such as spellcrafting and the improvement of basegame dungeons have been abandoned, but I do like the expansions and various other additions such as dyeing and costumes. The changes to game mechanics are a mixed bag for me; some good, some bad.

Heaven knows why people feel the need to announce themselves as female, I mean I'm one too but I certainly dont feel the need to correct peoples gender titles everywhere I go. Perhaps this is why 'Peoplekind' is such a meme these days ugh.

Anyway I've been around since before Beta. Don't like the game as it has changed though - I find it essentially pointless progression wise with the CP/Scaling (Yawn BORING), am far more of a social player and there are far better games for that. Whatever this anti-social paradise is supposed to be at this point, its not really for me.

I still drop back and forth though. I'm nosey like that ^_^

Its not a big deal and iwasnt correcting anyone. If I were a guy id have said beta guy. Yeesh.

Star Trek Online and Secret World's betas were worse, in some respects. ESO's beta was pretty ragged. Launch was actually pretty good as MMOs go, even with quests breaking because the encounters were overloaded.

Beta made me really excited, (I played both the Closed and Open betas).

Launch made me really angry, I booted up the whole game I was excited, made my Imperial character and logged in excited to visit Cyrodiil and Morrowind remade and was met with a map that was 50% blanked out, I thought it was strange but OK I guess that's coming soon, 3 years later and it's still not a complete map and its been DLC all the way.

Current, the removal of the sub fee was awful, 90% of new content is paid microtransaction and Gamble boxes. Races mean nothing therefore PvP means nothing.
Lore is broken when a AD, redguard rides past you with his Pink leather armour and skeleton horse you know that they stopped caring.
Dungeons, Delves, Public Dungeons etc are easy as *** and the latter 2 are a joke and soloable at any level now. The game feels like it's being built around consoles since One Tamriel and ZO$ seem to be more interested in MoneyMoneyMoney then fixing the game, its taken 3 years to bother trying to fix the optimization problems that have been there since before day one.

I played beta for my monkey and loyalty mounts and pets for sub, even when I haven’t played I still stayed subscribed. The people at zos while we can’t always agree with some things, they always try for the community they have listened many many times and improved this game massively while learning themselves the game has improved massively and can’t wait to see what’s in the future

I'm a beta player that transfer accounts over to xb1 I have only seen 4 other players that have the monkey on xb NA.

My fave patch was the one right before IC came out and VR14 was the cap level. Other then nirn trait being super OP on armor it felt the most balance to me. Think it was 1.5 not sure.

The first year I played on pc I did like 1 dungeon spent most my time lvling to VR and questing then when they dropped the cp system and announced the account copies I farmed cp like crazy every day.

Never really got to play my mdk the way the super OP pvp players did bc I was so busy lvling sad I missed out on that :(

Playing since the beta weekends, retired for a year because Cyrodiil was unplayable because of lag (much worser then its current state, actual its fine for me now)

Leveled in most white gear because everyone needing to learn traits for better sets, green or higher tempers were hard to get, the game was much harder then now until ZOS nerfed all the mobs because players were complaining to much about it (remember Dosha?)

No CP, alot of the better sets didnt excist that time, even normal DSA was a challenge, no scaling, Craglorn was a challenge for soloers, overall the game was harder then it is now.

Much is improved now and the gameworld is much bigger.

My favourite type of food is Argonian kidney, the fear adds a bit more spice..

    ...Pennywise?

Dangit Saucy I was the oldest here till you showed, now were twins

    Mwa ha ha ha ha!

I've been playing since beta. My first character was a Purple Argonian Dragonknight named Bar'nee. I had a few good names in mind but was reluctant to use them lest someone else should take them at launch. I also made a grey Khajit named Thomas (it had a last name but after 4 years I cannot remember it)., and a Breton Templar named Jesus of Nazreth There were a few other characters I made but I can only vaguely recall them.

The first beta events I participated in were limited to the starter islands for each faction, as there are no stables on these islands there were no mounts, so everyone ran everywhere. Provisioning was a mess so the only food items I had were the ones I pilfered from kegs and the like.

The last two bets events gave us access to the mainland areas, you still had to play through the starter island quests if I recall correctly. Mounts were now part of the mix but the only ones you saw were the white imperial horse I saw a single person with a black horse. Also Cyrodil was made available to us. I spent a great deal of time playing Oblivion so of course I had to check it out. My PC was not that good and my connection was lame so PvP was choppy to say the least. however I still found it enjoyable. One particularly memorable instance was when a nord attempted to gank me however I used crystal frags to knock him down, then lag struck and he began to slither away. He did not stand back up, no he slithered away.

The last beta event was a cluster.... The flood gates were opened and the NDA was lifted. So Many people complained about having to play the starter quests to see the mainland that ZOS changed it . Two weeks before launch and the main quest line was altered so that you began in your faction first mainland area. To this day it still feels rather odd. There was a progressive storyline in the quests you see. Examples being the orc shaman on Betnikh predicting what would happen in Glenumbra, or the future actions of Bleakrock survivors. I am still waiting to go back to stros'mkai and deal with headman Bhosek, or to uncover whatever is hidden inside the Pillar of the Sun.

Everything was very different in 2014, horses (there were no other mounts) had to be fed, not trained I think it was Apples for speed, wheat for stamina and rye for carrying capacity. Also there was a hard feeding cap so you could not max out all three on one horse, instead you could buy multiple copies of the same horse and feed them to have different stats. So I had one horse (white imperial ) for speed and another (palomino) for carrying capacity. If you wanted to change your active horse you had to go the stables. When it was changed (in 2015) all your horses were rolled into one so I had a very fast horse with very high carry capacity at the outset

Pets, costumes and mementos were actual items that took up inventory space, thus necessitating pack mule characters. As I had pre ordered the imperial edition and played the beta I began with three pets, Nebenay mudcrab , Vermillion Scuttler and the Imgakin. I also had the first dog in the game the Whiterun wolfhound. As no one else had a dog it was really cool to have one. I also have the Crony scrib which I have never seen anyone else have in the game.

Provisioning was a mess, it really was. If you didn't level it up early when you could pick up low level materials to level up with you were up diarrhea creek with no paddle. You would have to log into a lower level character to collect said materials and deposit them in your bank for use on your main crafter. There were also regional recipes which I quite liked, it made the game more immersive you see. Why would Breton cuisine be the same as Argonian or Bosmer. Recipe ingredients included things like such as plump worms (used in argonian recipes) and rats toes.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OABQgRkkCBA

There were also different rune stone nodes, purple and yellow as well as the orange each node only gave one rune. most people just ignored purple and yellow runes so they were condensed.

I'd have to say that the game is heading in the right direction, for the most part. I really wish it were more complex than it is, with unlockable mounts and more unlockable pets. I also retain hope that we will get spellcrafting, it would add some much needed complexity to the game and give us veteran players a reason to return to the base game zones.
