If you select one of the first 3 options, you must have played it from it's release year, not someone who played Morrowind after Skyrim etc.

Started with TES III, but have tried older games too. I like the lore of this universe so far, and this is it, the main reason I came here. I still think, that main story in ESO is on the same level at least as those of singleplayer games, despite of all this timeline mess and some questionable plots devs introduced recently.

Was a fan of Dark Age of Camelot. I loved the 3-way pvp.

DAOC was dead and I heard about TESO having 3-way pvp so I wanted to give it a test.

PvP was much better on DAOC however.

Proud? Yes, but I'm one of the rare few (or only one) who felt Skyrim was a bit "meh" in comparison to its predecessors. Daggerfall has a special place in my heart.

Having started playing computer games with the Hobbit in 1983, and with role-playing games taking over from adventure games soon after with Bards Tale and Might and Magic etc, I've played all TES games from Arena onwards, as well as most MMORPGs from the Realm onwards (with MUDs before that, I went online in 1997).

ESO was therefore a natural evolution from both CRPGs and MMORPGs in general and TES in particular. I didn't get involved in the beta as by then I had decided to leave betas alone and discover new games at launch, so have played ESO since launch on the PC in 2014. Two accounts, no performance issues, and no regrets. All the TES games are different, albeit with a common lore, and this one is no exception to that. It's a shame that some players expect ESO to be Morrowind Online, Skyrim Online, or some other imagined MMORPG implementation of an offline CRPG. It isn't, and was never intended to be. It's just a great game in its own right.

Actually I share this opinion. I mean sure, as a standalone game Skyrim was okay. But as a TES game, when compared to its ancestors, it was lacking in a lot of areas, especially in lore and writing. Oblivion is my special one, because it fixed Morrowind combat issues but did not lack in writing or lore or questlines. Skyrim was bland and while the combat was improved in some areas it was worse in others.

I often become addicted to any game I play regularly. Then I picked up ESO and I saw the difference immediately. Now I can eat, sleep and do other activites thanks to server crashes one after another. It really helped me in my real life. Thanks ESO! You are the best.

That's what brought me here too! I never enjoyed MMO's but when ESO was announced I felt obliged to buy it as although it was online, it was a TES game. And I was extremely excited to see loads of areas from TES games in HD, and to actually play in 2E.

    Other:

Came to see the legendary extended maintenance for myself. Was not disappointed.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

I technically played Daggerfall first, but only briefly at a friends house. Morrowind was the first Elder Scrolls game I owned and therefore the first one I played properly. Been a fan ever since so when I heard there was going to be a TES MMO I was immediately interested.

I have to admit at first I was a bit wary. I wasn't familiar with the name Zenimax and I was worried this might be one of those situations where a developer makes a generic game (usually quickly and often badly) and then licences an existing franchise to dress it up and market it. But that got sorted out fairly quickly and I signed up for the beta.

Discovered/played Morrowind first, but subsequently discovered there was already a TES IV out by that time. Enjoyed exploring Morrowind so much I forked out for Oblivion before I'd completed it, and then found that Oblivion was a walk in the park compared with Morrowind: I like Oblivion OK, but whereas I've completed it 3-4 times, while I think I may have recently accidentally completed Tribunal, I've yet to journey to (that game's version of) Solstheim & I still get sidetracked wandering around Morrowind so much that I've yet to complete the main story even once. Which is a good thing IMO. Makes Morrowind the superior game experience. I like a game which swallows me whole like that. That's what I call real escapism.

Then came Skyrim, and I'm afraid I got so excited by the initial enthusiastic buzz surrounding it I may have expected too much from it. So my actual reaction to Skyrim is more 'meh'. (Veering towards actual active dislike of the UI which appears to me to have been designed primarily for console play & with little regard for PC keyboard and mouse play.) Actually, now I come to think of it, I really like the Dragonborn part on Solstheim in Skyrim, which is the best TES 'chapter' since the original Morrowind IMO.
