Is Eso the best mmorpg out?

I started playing eso in 2015 on console release I have always loved the elder scrolls games and I’m still only playing eso alongside skyrim of course 🙂

Lore, combat and story seem to be the biggest points in any MMORPG. To me, I find mounts and such to be very much secondary. Although Zos is adding a mount to an achievement next week.

But in the MMORPG industry there is no talent and stubborness left to release real competition.

I've only played a few. Archeage - beautiful open world graphics, but broken in so many ways I couldn't list them here. Gear gap is abominable. SWTOR - very enjoyable open world but was turned off by the excessive length of each story and the need to study and practice extensive rotations at higher levels. BoD I have but haven't done much - don't like the limitations on class/gender, and all the research I did concerning the grind turned me off. Now I here is open PvP which convinces me never to bother with it again. Champions - fun game, lousy graphics, good for taking a break but not taking seriously. Neverwinter - started a bit, not impressed with class options, but about the same time I started I found ESO. Wasn't even close as to which I would put time into. Then there is Second Life... wait... how did that get in here? Ummmm... nope... not me.... never played it... nothing to see here.....

In short - I would Love to see ESO be able to make this game open world with no more change-screens, but ya gotta take the bad with the good. And there's way too much good for minor issues to stop me from playing.

Dailies are ***. They always been. Far from fun.
There is a reason doing them/ thats why ppl do them even if they hate it in their guts/ and rewards are worthy.
Toxic raids ? Not if you do your job. Raids in WoW are not more toxic than EsO trials.
There is a plenty to do in WoW outside the raiding tbh. PvP, pet battles, trading, colections, achievment hunt or even RP in goldshire tavern if you wish ....
The thing killing wow is not the lack of content. Its the activision greednes and stupidity.
Do EsO is better than WoW atm. Duno. I like it more. Thats why i`m here.

Easy to play, difficult to master. That would be my experience with eso. The best yes.

WOW- devs making to many mistakes
Fxiv - Story telling wise good not as good. I prefer eso art style than the anime style
Gw2 - Best ever expansion "Heart of thorns" however the world felt empty in crystal song desert on day one of the expansion to many events going on at the same time.

BDO- machine breaker, leaving your computer on so you can afk actives is crap.
SWTOR- It was every 40year olds dream. but basically it was a reskinned wow game with better story telling.
Tera- seeing sedan cars in game broke my immersion

What made ES games great was the consistent lore (world building), but now they seem to be doing what ever they want and it greatly diminishes the game. Example: High Elf, Wood Elf, and Argonian racial passives.

I have my beef with classes behind a paywall and I'd rather a sub and see less low or no value trash.

I know a lot of people like FF too and I do occasionally play it. But I get bored with it really quickly. And the story is just... weird.

I prefer ESO to all the other MMO's out there so, for me, it is the best.

Honestly, you cant say that it is, and you cant say it is not.

For someone who plays mostly for the story of the game, the world I can explore and like to play solo, its awesome. It would be perfect if Delves had a solo mode.
I am not the social kind of guy, so I really enjoy that you can really play and enjoy this game alone.

For someone who likes group content and Raiding, its not. There is no real progression Raiding in the game and compared to other MMOs, ESO lacks in endgame hardcore raiding. The Dungeons are awesome though.

ESO is a very casual MMORPG, maybe too casual. I always have a low level gear set with me, to boost the difficulty of the open World content, because with Level 50 160 CP gear, it is just too easy.

For Casuals like me, its great. For Hardcore players, its most likely boring af.

I feel somewhat mixed about the game, really. I like the game, while at the same time feel a little "Eeeeh" about it.

It's good pretty good gameplay, everything remains relevant at whatever level you might be, it has in-game housing, furniture crafting, and it's pretty freeform with how you make your character.

What I don't like, is that the whole freeform character building doesn't really compliment the game's endgame PvE design, with things like one-shot mechanics, DPS checks, so on and such. Essentially saying "Yeah you can play however you'd like, but Hells take you if you try to take your fun playstyle and use it in a Veteran Dungeon enviroment".
Could also benefit from having a difficulty slider, to allow you to customize how you'd like to play the game. Certainly would help make Overworld Content a bit more interesting. Be it in the form of an Undaunted Buff/Debuff or something.

Outside of how I see the community, I'd probably rate the game a six or seven.

Eso is the best game in every way. It ticks all the boxes for me.

The best lore by far of any game i have ever played. It has amazing graphics and don't even start me on the quality of the art
work and design. Tamriel is a rich and stunning landscape with colourful characters many of whom I've grown very fond of. Need I mention Sir Cadwell and our beloved and handsome Raz? There are too many to name...my list is long.

I personally enjoy eso combat as it feels organic to me. I feel like I'm engaging in the fights and making decisions as I go and it never feels static. I feel that weighty iron sword in my hand and anticipate the hefty swing, the clank as it hits bone.....vibrating as it mocks its fallen foe. Oh excuse me, I got carried away for a minute there 😆

The crafting system in eso is fun and I believe it's second to non. When I'm on one of my crafting characters, I actually feel like I'm making something with my own hands, it's that immersive.

The questing in eso is phenomenal....very high quality content. Every quest is an adventure in itself and the bigger questlines can keep one engaged for hours, days...ok weeks even.

There is such a wide variety of fun things to do in eso; Questing, dungeons, delves, public dungeons, World bosses, trials, dolmens, role playing, crafting, housing, holiday events awell as other special events, pvp, battle grounds, arenas, 1v1, join trading guilds, social guilds or dungeon and trials guilds or pvp guilds .....the list goes on. There is something exciting for every player.

Eso is also a game where you can easily make lots of friends or if you like to play solo there is plenty to keep you happy too.
And even if you are a bit of a loner, you can still get help for just when you need it simply by asking in zone chat .

Our Eso community is alive, vibrant and very helpful. If you ask for help in zone chat someone will always be happy to assist you. You never really feel alone because our community has a strong presence both in Tamriel, the forums and many other social media so one always feels connected.

I'm not going to say any rpgmmo is perfect because every rpgmmo by it's very nature is constantly evolving and with that comes change. This can unsettle some players at times which is reasonable to expect. It just takes a bit of time to adapt and move forward. I personally feel that zos devs do their best to work with class reps and players in general. I strongly believe that eso has come a long way in a short time. I want to keep supporting zos because I see a great future up ahead.

Right now I am counting the sleeps till I get to explore Elsweyr. I'm super excited. 😊😊😊

I want to add that I am not in any way associated to any zos employee. I live in Australia and I have never been to America. I don't get rewarded for saying this in any way shape or form. I'm not a streamer of anything zos.

The thing is that most MMO`s are pretty much the same.

First I avoid Open World PvP games cause this mostly results in griefing from the side of top players towards others who are maybe more into PvE and story. You go out to farm your gear, they will wait for you just for not taking their farm spot.

Second I want to "live" in the game. So when housing is poor and I can not "settle" somehow in the game I wont be there for long.

Third is a "toxic" community. There is less to do about it except to watch PC/Mac players are mix up with Console players. Console players are mosty young, more toxic as adults and they care less. So when a game mixes with Console players, stay out of it.

The only good MMORPG I know of at the moment.
Runescape - loved it but with the Evolution of Combat update it changed so much of the game that I left, and from what I understand many people did as well, which was probably the big break point for the game back then. It used to be one of the recommended top dogs in MMORPG scene before that. There's Oldschool Runescape but it's just a pale shadow of the game used to be.
Everquest II - went to it after leaving Runescape and really loved that game, but 2014 was it's last "still good" expansion imo, after the game went from Sony Online Entertainment to Daybreak things turned bad very quickly, by now it's nothing but a buggy, unpatched insanely grindy mess with even worse lag on the servers than here in Cyrodiil. There are servers with "classic" terribly grindy content but it all serves the concrete purpose of sucking money from die-hards who still remain, and do as little as possible to upkeep the game. Blatant, unmasked pay to win if you want to do any group content on live servers. Kind of a bit like the direction ESO seems to be slowly going to, actually.

ESO is best but the best MMO isn't perfect. First off, I hate their business practices so if an MMO came out that is as good as ESO but with better business model I'd go with that.

In my opinion, (Pompous ain't I?), ESO IS the best MMORPG right now. The Stories and Quests are rich in Lore. The Landscape in game is Beautiful and pretty well rendered. The Cities and buildings Extremely well Done, and Designed. The Housing aspect of ESO is one of my favorite things in game. Most are buyable with in-game currency, ALL are buyable through the Crown Store. Unfurnished or Furnished. The PVE is great (I have absolutely NO interest in PvP so I can't speak to that)
The Community of players (for the most part) are friendly, Helpful, and some are even willing to leave off what THEY are doing to help with your guild or group, (Some, Not All, but it does happen.)
Other Games, such as WoW, FF, and Bless, that I have tried or played for years have become some of the most Toxic quagmires that you have ever seen. The Quests are Stale, The Story has a Decidedly one sided slant, (Those of you who play the "blue" in WoW have seen the hate..) WoW and FF are so "Cartoony" that its just sad. Bless has been a Mess from Day 1. AND except for a few Cutscenes here and there.. They have no voice acting... So yes, ESO is the Best,(So Far) in my opinion.

As someone who comes from GW2 with like 5000+ hours I think, I've taken breaks from ESO from time to time, but I always somehow manage to keep only fond memories of it, always wanting to return. There are so many things in GW2 I get annoyed about. I always consider PvP and WvW as endgame for games that offer it. Only story, raiding and skins as endgame is not for me.

Gonna compare ESO with GW2.

ESO Pros:
1. Freedom to be fast on every class.
In ESO every class is almost equally capable to disengage from combat. In GW2 you're slow and being in combat makes you even slower. If you don't play a certain class you end up being ganked when roaming. You have to basically cross out classes when wanting to roam.
2. Tidy crafting system.
In GW2 crafting is so damn illogical. Stupid recipes split between Mystic Forge and crafting stations. And there are so insane recipes just to purposely sink materials from the economy. There is legendary weapon crafting and one weapon, among other huge amount of requirements, required 30,000 wood logs. What a bullcrap. They release new recipes and vendors based on resource supplies. ESO on other hand has really tidy well-thought crafting system.
3. Items and inventory space.
In GW2, there are so many currencies, so I need to grind every map separately. There are so many junk items, useless trophies, intermediate crafting items, etc that fill up your inventory like crazy. But you still need to loot all the crap on ground just to salvage what you can and use in crafting since you need insane amount of materials everywhere. In ESO you can buy inventory space with in-game currency.
4. Quests in open world, voice acting.
Queen Ayrenn voiced by Kate Beckinsale says everything. Pointless to talk about GW2 here.
5. Lively maps.
In ESO, you always see players on every corner (on EU at least), I never feel alone on a map, there are always people doing something. GW2 core maps can be so deserted.
6. Combat, 1vX.
While I'm not pro PvP-wise, I always enjoy WvW as a pug. It's fun. Big role here has the very first point made in this list. I can choose my fights. I find 1vX fascinating, while I can't do it myself as "1". In GW2 it's miserable - you desperately search for action, then suddenly die to a bandwagon, because your class is slow by design.
7.Everyone can be sneaky.


ESO Cons:
1. Armor models.
"Body paint". I understand it's more performance-friendly, but still.
2. Long loading screens.
Compared to GW2.
3. Actual maintenance times.
Compared to GW2, that 99.99999...% of the time has zero downtimes, maybe only when big expansion comes out. This maintenance model should be looked into... nowadays.
4. Default UI.
Can reject some MMORPG people who try ESO for first time. There should be option for minimap, experience bar on HUD without addons. Also map pins. Tried to get a friend to play this game and he couldn't overlook the lack of these things.
5. Small skillbar.
On the other hand that's console-friendly.
6. No actual trading post.
Perhaps it's subliminally a good thing, but while there are long loading screens, then it's a con.

I play ESO because it's the only decent, western MMO out there currently. Let's be honest they haven't had much competition. Long gone are the days when there were multiple choices of AAA MMOs out there at once. I'm not saying ESO isn't good, but after 5 years of doing the same thing over and over and fighting lag in PVP, I'm ready for a change of scenery and better classes.
