Should they add flying mounts in the next expansion?

I would settle for a levitating mount. A mount that flys just a bit above the ground when you sprint. But as for flying flying? No

Agreed. There is no reason why levitating mounts would not work. Or even what is suggested in italics above.

There were two beautiful mounts in Warhammer Online that did this. In fact, looking at those again I cannot help but feel they look far better quality and more majestic than anything currently available in ESO. Graphically most mounts in ESO are mediocre in graphical design and fidelity, at least IMO.

But flying mounts are probably not possible as people have stated due to game engine restrictions and design.

I wouldn't mind flying mounts if they just glided close to the ground, slightly higher than a normal mounts belly. I would not want them to be able to achieve any type of elevation or be able to fly over obstacles.

Why not instead of flying mounts, we should have digging mounts. Like a giant mole so we can just go sub-terranian to skip large amounts of content. And in PvP we can dig into enemy keeps and they have to buy the new mole-detectors for a million AP to protect their keeps.

The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

There are few things that would ruin the game and lore as much flying mounts. It would kind of be like adding Dwemer as a playable race.

    Practical reasons it wouldn't work:
They would have to redesign all zones in the entire game to allow for flying in-between zones, and they would have to change the way zones work altogether. Change of terrain, weather systems, music, the sky(?) NPC behaviour etc etc. Meaning they would have to make one huge zone to avoid loading scenes and it just wouldn't work due to engine limitations. The engine is performing badly as it is - please don't make it worse by adding flying mounts and redesigning the entire overworld.

    Just no. Pls.

It would be cool though. But no. Neh. Bah!

They cannot, because the world builders made some "creative shortcuts" in world building that would make flying mounts less effective.

Beautiful though many places in ESO are, I think flying mounts would make the world seem smaller, and how many loadscreens would there be whilst flying?

A flying horse or dragon mount would be fun, but l don't think flying would add very much to this game. I've enjoyed flying mounts in WoW and flying (with my character's wings) in Aion, but those games seem better suited to it.

Seriously, for one it would be a mess, with how the game is set up, they either would have to redo everything (like cyrodil PvP, or invisible walls keeping their reagions "pretty" and people from looking behind the scenery props), or add magical thunderbolt "slaughterbolts" that kill everyone as soon as they fly into places they aren't supposed to be...

For another it would not work with the game system, which is set up for a semi-2d playing field, expanding it to full 3d woulf for ome require them to recode half their game, for another double or triple the collision calculations, thus increasing lag...

And finally, it would be somewhat lore iffy, seeing how Tamriel has no mention of air cavalry in this era, and levitation spells are more often then not unreliable deathtraps (there is a corpse in south-eastern Shadowfen that I recall came to be there from trying to make one such spell work)...

Leave the griffin riders to Dragonlance books and WoW.
I would settle for a levitating mount. A mount that flys just a bit above the ground when you sprint. But as for flying flying? No
Levitating mounts that don't really fly but just "float" over the ground would be entiurely possible.
And something I'd love to see - floating carpets, floating broomsticks, floating thrones, floating mortar and pestle, floating driftdisks, floating clouds, floating whatever... it would be the exact sort of thing mage-type charatcers might enjoy!
i would except flying in Summerset as well as gryphons...
    I would expect gryphons.
I make no assumptions about their size, and am at this point thinking they are more likely to be cliff racer-ish mobs to fight rather then mount options. Though there might be some plot driven aerial travel, like that one time you get carried by a harpy in the alik'r...

Redguards extensively using magic is lore breaking.
    No it isn't.
Redguards may frown upon the use of magic, true, but that is all. People use things they frown upon all the time when they need to.
Now, if Redguards were to suddenly start embracing magic on a cultural level and turn in their curved swords, then yes, that would be iffy with the lore. But not like this is happyning enywhewre in ESO, we just have some redguards quietly studying magic because as they found out through history, not every problem in tamriel can be dealt with a quick dash and slice...

It's arguable that the Argonians wouldn't ally with their slave masters willingly...
...unless they maybe figure out from paying attention (or from communion with the hist) that they would be facing worse a situation if they did not ally, perhaps?
Enemies ally with their enemies against a worse enemy all the time. And often enough eventually become enemies again once those worse threats are gone.
It's no more "arguable" then, say, communists and capitalists allying to fight facists. Which quite unarguably happened around eighty years ago, yes?

And we know from the lore, the pact will only be around as long as they feel threatened by the other two alliances. And once those are gone, the nords will go back to their meafhalls, the dunmer will go back to their old ways, and the argonians will go back to fighting off slavers and biding their time until the red year.

It really all makes sense for those knowledgable!

As many of you are aware flying mounts are very popular and attractive. Many MMORPGs including this games main competitors such as World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn offer in-game flying mounts. Wouldn't it be wonderful to experience Tamriel from above aloft your legendary dragon mount? I sure think so. Imagine taking in the scenery from thousands of feet in the air while envious players watched you fly across the skies from above like Danaerys her self.

Being that wow had to "disable" flying for new content zones to prevent people from just skipping all content...

I'd say no to flying mounts.
