Should they add flying mounts in the next expansion?

I would settle for a levitating mount. A mount that flys just a bit above the ground when you sprint. But as for flying flying? No

    And to answer your question.
    Flying mount ? No.
    Griffin? Hell No.
They are not needed or wanted by most in this game.

If by "most in this game" you mean the tiny forum population of which probably less than 50% will see this thread and even a smaller percentage will reply, then yes you would be correct.

    OP:

I am neutral on it. I care neither way. They are not really needed( nor were those 83 houses they stuck in game for players to buy) nor do i think they would affect the game in a bad way. I would have two stipulations though:

    1) No wing flapping while on the ground or hovering just above it( like they have to jump up to at least 5-10 meters when they take flight and if you take them below that they drop to ground and land), the twilight pet is annoying enough.

    2) They are grounded in all PVP areas. I dont need bombed from 300m high while im running around cyrodiil.

By most I meant the amount of people who trashed on ESO for being WoW clone at release.
The amount of people in this forum are die hard fans of this game they will be more forgiving than the rest and many of those are more of MMORPG fans than ES fans based on a lot of posts....So I wasn't counting people in this forum.
And most people who play this game are ES fans a lot of those even treat it as a SP game which they come after expansion play the expansion and go away...

i would except flying in Summerset as well as gryphons. if the whole idea is we cant fly cause of zone ceilings and adding an area to fly in is impossible in established zones. then why couldent we have it in an all new zone.

and just make the ceiling a bit higher then eton nir and let us fly around in that space. or not i dont care either way. but i would enjoy it if it ever happened.

Honestly, i would consider it a vast improvement if my character just learned to step over objects that were less than knee high rather than having to jump. There are several spots in delves in which my character has to jump onto another floor that is literally at his ankles. How he ever manages to navigate steps i have no clue.

And in addition to the dlc, you need to buy the mounts in the crown store to play it?

I'd love to see a Daedric Titan mount and just walk into a keep's wall and destroy it. Who needs sieges?

I wouldn't go that far. The basic flying mount would be available at the stable hand. It would be a plain pegasus horse.

    1. What part of " IT IS LORE BREAKING" does not sink in? There are NO flying mounts in Tamriel!! And don't bring up Skyrim.
    2. The Game Mechanics won't support it! It is designed on a horizontal metric and won't suport vertical game play. This is also why there is no underwater swimming in ESO. Watch ESO-Live Episode 17 to hear the Dev's explain this to you "Arm Chair Developers". Watch here if you missed it. 3. This isn't WoW!!! Thank Azura!! Go play WoW. ESO has tried to NOT be like WoW or other MMO's. Want to fly, go play that.
    5. Zones would have to be completely redesigned from ground up. No Again!
    6. Just like "Buying Levels or CP, it isn't going to happen. Period...Again, this isn't WoW.

Redguards extensively using magic is lore breaking. Templar vampires using "vampires bane" is lore breaking. It's arguable that the Argonians wouldn't ally with their slave masters willingly. There's so much lore breaking it's ridiculous.

At this point anyone suggesting flying mounts should just have their posting privileges removed for a month. The game zones and terrain are not designed for it, as much as you want it. It would require map reworks from the ground up.
Yes, for one all land is divided into zones, this is how the megaserver works, each zone run on servers and moving trough the load door take you to another physical server.
So you could only use them inside the zone who is pretty small and is dotted with wayshrines.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm not sure flying mounts would actually work here.

One thing we learned when housing was introduced is that the space the maps are built inside is kept to a minimum. The top of the map is just high enough for a character to stand on the highest point, but then you can't jump because there's no space above you. (For example in Mournoth Keep you can get up to the top of the roof, in Hunding's Palace it's the top of the lighthouse...whatever the tallest object in the map is that's the highest point.)

Now it's possible the open world maps are different, but it seems unlikely to me. Unless your players can fly it's a complete waste to have all that extra space above their heads and having a massive space for the map, even if it's empty, can seriously increase loading times.

Increasing the height of the maps after they've been made isn't easy either. I'm not talking about an invisible wall someone placed to block us that they could simply delete or move up, this is the literal edge of the map - if you've ever played Sim City or a similar game it's like that - there is nothing beyond that border and generally the only way to increase it is to re-create the map inside a bigger box.

So it's likely if we ever did get flying mounts they'd only be able to fly just above the ground, maybe 2 or 3 stories up depending on the map.

    fwiw;

Amaya Lake Lodge at least has a ceiling much higher than its tallest point, and most of the open world maps are buffered by low texture distance models that eventually drop off into a void

We had flying mounts...griffins in Vanguard SOH. Awesomely long and difficult questline to get one, involving the whole guild for weeks. Terrific content.

For anyone who played that game and did that questline, remember Akande the Butcher?

    It won't happen in ESO.
