It's Been 3 Years Since we had a PvP DLC

Wow, time flies. I didn't realize June 6, 2017 was 30 months ago. It feels like it's only been 9.

I dont think we need a new pvp zone but Morrowind was pve not pvp.

And this is one reason why we don't necro threads, because we have to correct outdated info!

When Morrowind came out, it included the PVP content Battlegrounds. A year later, ZOS made Battlegrounds free base game content for everyone including existing accounts that didnt own the Chapter.

So the Morrowind Chapter was the last, new PVP content that players paid for, with all new maps and BG modes being free upgrades.

Can we let this thread rest in peace, now?

Yes, it came out as part of a PVE chapter, not as a stand alone PVP dlc.

Morrowind wasn't a PVE Chapter, at least not in the normal sense of PVE-only. It included both a PVE zone and a PVP gameplay mode as part of its paid content. There wasn't any way to buy those separately at the time, and some people tried. There were a number of PVPers very irked at the thought of having to pay for a zone when they just wanted Battlegrounds.

Summerset and Elsweyr were/are PVE Chapters, containing no paid-for PVP content.

Yes, that's a little nitpicky, but given the content of this old thread, I think its an important distinction. The last time ZOS sold PVP content was as part of the Morrowind Chapter, which included both PVE and PVP content.

Its technically true that Imperial City was the last PVP DLC, since Battlegrounds became free base game content instead of going for sale as a DLC a few month after this thread started. But if we want to get even more technical, Imperial City is a PvPvE DLC with a PvPvE zone and 2 PVE dungeons. Hilariously, that makes Battlegrounds the only purely PVP content ZOS ever sold, and there were NO PVP-only DLCs!

My real objection to this thread is that its outdated. This discussion over the nitpicky nature of Chapters vs DLCs obscures something rather crucial:

This thread was written prior to Battlegrounds becoming base game for everyone. Last year, ZOS made their newest PVP content available for everyone. It also predates the changes to Cyrodiil - we've had destructible gates and bridges, new paths, new outposts, and the Hammer (for better or for worse). We have new battlegrounds maps and game modes now. We may not like the changes, but we can't deny that PVP has changed since this thread was written.

So whenever we date the last "PVP DLC", the main thrust of the OP - that Zenimax hasn't done anything new in PVP since Imperial City and PVP is stagnant- is complete BS now. Its outdated info. Not surprisingly because the OP was written in March 2018. ESO has moved on.

They should run a daedric incursion in cyrodiil which lasts a few days, and afterwards the map is hugely changed around, with big craters and a battle scarred landscape. Basically, a new map of cyrodiil.

The game doesn't need more PvP areas. PvE survives through new content. PvP survives through players doing battle with each other. PvP already has population problems. More PvP zones would add to those problems.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

game is going towards questing and RP, housing etc. casuals. pvp and pve communities have been gutted. now s as good a time as any to try something else people.

If anything, they shouldn't add more pvp zones but instead completely change cyrodiil to freshen it up and keep the playerbase as together

There's no new PvP because it's not paying the bills.

And every time there's a PvP event to try and entice new folk into PvP, there's a subset of fools who go out of their way to discourage those newbies by doing stupid stuff like spawn camping, and exploit killing folk who are coming through doors.
