i usually hit E since i'll be interacting with something. But its very bizarre.

i came to a door, hit E, dismounted. door didnt open, hit E, mounted, hit e, dismounted, hit e, went thru door, mounted.

Not once did i hit my key to mount yet got back on the mount twice.

Same thing happened to me a couple days ago. I got to the door, started pressing e and got off then back my horse 3 times. I had to back away from the door and then i was able to go through.

A long time ago, I had a habit of hitting block randomly while doing just about anything in-game, including while mounted, and it kept unhorsing me when I didn't want to be unhorsed, so I trained myself never to block while mounted... and totally forgot to use that option on the poll.

I usually play on my NB, so I tend to have a non-target-requiring skill on my bar (merciless resolve or cloak); I just hit one of them to dismount. But right now I'm levelling a templar without any likely skills (yet) so I'm light attacking instead.

It's really interesting that close to 80% of the poll respondents do not use the mount button to dismount -- the default H on PC keyboard/mouse setup is too far from the movement keys, and it's just not an important enough function to keybind something nearer the movement keys.

I used to use light attack until I hit a guard. Then I decided block was better.

Exactly the same as me. Used light attack. Then kept accidentally hitting innocents, now use block!

Yeah, Block, using the same mount button is worthless, hold it for 2.9 secs open your map, hold it for 3.0 secs get off horse.

I really should have picked the "other" choice. But I didn't think about it because it's just so automatic now for me to be riding along and hit "E" to loot, harvest resources, enter doors, etc and then hit "H" to get back to riding again. After nearly 4 years, some game function are run on autopilot most times.
