Argonian racial passive that allows you to escape death once a day by dropping your tail. Tail grows back the next day.

That is actually good, many real world small lizards do that as a defense mechanism  My Argonian would approve of this.

But only small reptiles can do that. Alligators, Komodo Dragons, and all the large ones cannot regrow their tail if they lose it. And while an Argonian is about 3-4 feet shorter than a small, American Alligator (which can be 9.8 - 15ft), it still qualifies as a large reptile.

I would love to use "hide tail" option on my argonians if we won't ever get proper armor for them. Currently the way tails are attached to armor is hilarious and weird :| Pants look especially awful. My poor argonians don't wear pants for this reason, only robes.

I see Argonian tails more like a crocodile's to propel them through the water. Cut that off and they'll lose their swim speed.

    Leopard-Gecko-Tail-Drop.jpg?ssl=1

Here's a gecko when it drops its tail. It still has a big chunk left.

    Saltwater-Crocodile-Tail.jpg

And here's a crocodile's tail. Argonian tails aren't quite that thick, but they do look similar.

And here's a marine iguana. They do not lose their tails since they also need it for swimming.

What the hell. Why would you make an Argonian in the first place.

Argonians are currently one of the best race choices for healers and tanks.

Sounds to me like you should head over to one of the threads about racial passives instead of trying to chop off your poor Argonian's tail. Might trigger a few less lizard-folk.

Omg I was looking through datamined stuff and found this

    gp_crwn_adorn_arg_uni_tailspikes_1x1.jpg

    "Six-Spike Tail Trim"

    gp_crwn_adorn_kha_sportytailtuft_ivt_7725_1x1.jpg

    "Sporty Tail Tuft"

So tail accessories ARE a thing. These were datamined May 2017. Maybe we'll see them pop up this year.

Heck no. It makes no sence. And it would make for a huge freaking wound too seeing the base is so wide, like amputating a leg. Besides the argonians will fall flat on their face then with the balance of the tail gone. It is not just for show you know.

Let's have a hide arms option for Bretons too. Hide legs for Redguards, and hide torso for Altmers.

I mean, the tail is only part of their bodies.

Soo funny. I got a laugh from reading this. Funny because it's true.

    Hey guys,

I had this idea floating in mind and thought I should share it. I think there should be an option to hide your Argonian’s tail, just like the “hide helmet” option, or just an option for no tail in character creation. I like Argonians, I think they are cool but the tail is kind of a turn off. Think of Bossk from Star Wars right now. A humanoid reptile with no tail would be a dream character for me in ESO.

For a side note, I do not think it would break the lore. I have some knowledge on Argonians and it would not be too far fetched to see some without tails. Perhaps they possess the ability to lose their tail to escape, like Geckos. Maybe they were born without one or it could be a tradition in a tribe, like how some people elongate a child’s head at a young age.

Anyways, I would love to have this as an option one way or another.

    Thanks,
    -Yzalirk

I'd rather have option to hide epaulets. Tails are just fine.

In Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Khajiit and Argonians couldn't even wear pants because of their different leg structure.
Starting with TES4: Oblivion they quietly changed that -- so they've already made a pretty big concession for Argonians (and Khajiit).

But I think hiding the tail or taking it off is too big of a change to the racial identity compared to pretending legs evolved differently from the animal inspiration.
We'd be headed too closely to Star Trek where "aliens" are just humans with funny foreheads.

    Science!

    https://www.scienceabc.com/nature/animals/tale-of-tails-what-makes-a-lizards-tail-so-special-does-it-have-a-life-of-its-own.html

But larger lizards use their tails for mobility and balance. I could see a bipedal lizard like argonians falling over constantly without one... Same for khajiit.

Every bodypart should be hideable. If someone wants they should be allowed to run around as a three fingered person, or a disembodied hand, or just empty space. ZOS is just stubborn and won't let people play the way they want.

Can I have a hairless Khajiit with stump legs, no ears, half a tail, and dragon wings? No, because ZOS is just too busy catering to the casuals, as usual.

I suppose they could have a quest where you have to lose a limb and they let you choose (not head!). Then add something in Costumes to hide that limb.
