Outfit System Question.

On the announcement page it stated "You will have access to one unique outfit that you can customize using gold, but you will also be able to acquire Outfit Change Tokens and additional Outfit Slots from the Crown Store, allowing you to have a variety of outfits ready to go at a moment's notice."

It's unclear to me whether you can only make one outfit and then have to buy the change token in the crown store to edit or remove it, or if it's possible to remove the outfit you've made and then make a new one.

^^^^ This. Can I do what I please with my one slot or is it locked once I use it and that's it, any changes or additions will require the Crown Store? I suspect it is the latter, [snip]

They say that you can customise the (free) included costume for gold, so I would assume you can customise it as much as you like but will be charged a large amount of gold each time you want to change it. Or you can buy the comparatively reasonably priced outfit change token from the crown store.

If it's anything like transmogrification in WoW then each new armor and weapon slot would increase the cost in gold, but let's hope ZOS doesn't make each armor and weapon slot like 1000 gold to edit.

Crown store allows more outfit SLOTS... So I'm pretty sure it means of you were to buy a new slot... You can go create 2 different outfits.. and when out in the world can use either one. With only one slot, to change outfits you'd need to visit an outfit station and change that one outfit slot.

Them mentioning slots specifically to me makes it sound that way. Pretty much you can buy another little square in your collectible screen.

I am wondering if the whole system boils down to how I read it:

First thing you can do (and thing I want most, but fear isn't there):
You can without limitation (save motif knowledge) chance the look of actually owned and worn gear, including weapons. So if you swap out a piece the look will of course change if it isn't the same style. But can only do that on the character itself for the learned motifs (so you don't even need to be able to craft, just have to have learned the motifs) at a dye station. Possibly binding the gear to character. Basically like motif-"dying" your gear with unlocked motifs, like dying with unlocked colors. For free, like with dyes? Are motifs for this purpose account wide unlocked? Or character dependent?
Seems like this is not what the system can do at all unfortunately.

Second only thing you can do:
You have a free account wide outfit slot (a sort of costume) you can adjust just like the gear mentioned above. But this one works as a costume, overlaying the worn gear, just like any other costume. This costume shows up for every alt and can be used for all? Or does every character have it's own (and known motif limitation)? Seems most likely if it includes a weapon/backbar weapon
You can buy more outfit slots for crowns. You can chance the outfit in the outfit slot(s) for gold/crown bought stuff.

its NOTHING like customization in wow, where you change individual gear pieces at will, rather then creating an OUTFIT.

I have a main crafter that knows all of the motifs, I bought the two crown store motifs to make armor for my alts. I'm wondering how that will work with the new system. Will I still be able to do that or should I get their armor done before this change takes place? Any thoughts?

I doubt actual crafted gear making will change. And you can still craft actual gear in any known motif like before. It's just changing existing gear looks, crafted or otherwise, that might be alt dependent.

I only have 1 crafter that learned all the motifs. Really hope that these outfit slots are account shared.

We'll be showing the Outfit System during today's ESO Live so you can see it in action, but just to clarify a couple points:
    • You will receive one free Outfit slot, and additional slots can be purchased from the Crown Store.
    • You can change your Outfit in a slot as many times as you want for a fee.
    • You're not really changing the look of an actual item, but think of it more like creating a "costume" that you're wearing.

Is that outfit slot account wide? That’s what I’m confused about. Most players only have one crafter with all the motifs, so character bound outfits are a bad idea.

It seems to be an outfit-costume slot (much like other costumes) that you can shape for each item slot making up the full outfit, (including weapon) however you like as long as you (player or character?) know the motif and wanted dye. I assume you need to actual have to have the matching weapon type active for the outfit look to show up. also if you wear a costume I assume the outfit weapon look won't be showing, but the actual used weapon look, like it is now. You can change the outfit slot for gold or crowns. You can buy more outfit slots for crowns. So it's not an actual item being generated, so not bankable, tradeable, sellable

Account wide outfit slots come with it's own restriction. Every character only has access to that look. So if you have 5 characters you want an outfit for, and they all "need" to be different, you have to buy 4 additional slots. Instead of one slot and everyone is covered (granted then the does not know motif restriction on this alt kicks in). So we either shell out for looks (each alt needs to know it's wanting to use motifs, crafter or not), or for slots (want an unique look for a character instead of one another uses, buy a slot for it). Honestly I do not know what I prefer. I am leaning towards not shared slots, each their own motif knowledge.

So.. is it a costume creator system? Or you just choose a piece of your armour, choose the style you want to change (plus style material) and you have the same piece of armour in the style you want?

    I am all confused.

Likely not as the options are known motif based. And there are no non-armor clothing pieces motifs.

The first, a costume creator system, going by what been said by ZoS so far. Not generating an actual item/gear. But filling your outfit-costume-slot(s) that can be used by your character like a regular costume.

Thank you for some clarification. I do plan to watch at 6pm, but I am hoping you could clarify two more questions prior to the show:

    1) Fee. Will that be the player's choice of spending gold or will we need to use Outfit change tokens at some point?

    2) Will these Outfits be account or character bound? Such as, I have all my motifs learned on one of my 14 characters. Once an Outfit slot is purchased, and used, will that outfit be available to all my 14 characters or just the one who crafted the outfit?

    Thank you.

Wearing medium night mother gaze for thief guild quests under costume rather than SPC and lich, I wondered why I had problems in nICP and why SPC did not proc.
Pretty scared of costumes after that.

How will this work with weapons? I have stamina with bow / two daggers, magic dd with flame / shock, healer with heal / shock but uses flame / shock then not healing.
Some talk about weapon coloring, how will that work in this setup? I prefer to have the two staffs of different design as an additional clue who i'm on.

see this as both the most complex but also most useless setup possible. Wanted an setup to change monster set to something who matched my hurdling set and changing necropotence into something better looking and so on.
Only bonus if I can show up as healer in heavy armor with bows on both bars :)

You can transmog only in existing styles? No option to take look of items with unique style?
