I had a conversation lately with one of my friends, he is a big fan of ES, but he hate ESO because its a MMO
when i asked him directly - why you wont try it? ESO has greate solo-player content too, very detailed quests, and such
he told:

- I wont see this jumping idiots(other players) around me

and its not the only one opinion i heard, i know other guys that thinking the same way about MMO games
I think its a big mistake and misunderstanding, but all my argumets havent any positive effects

what do you think about this, how to convince such ppl?

I'm really good at ignoring people, both in real life and in-game, so that has never been a problem for me.

Most of the time i don't even notice other players in PvE since my focus is elsewhere.

Only if they also fix their broken navmesh so one does not get stuck on the tiniest pebbles all the time.

I have to jump way more than i would like to just to be able to move laterally.

Not going to happen. I promise you that. The number of people that would be against that greatly, tremendously out numbers the couple people that "simply hate seeing it".

Here is how I tried to convince my brother. (It didn't work.)

When Bethesda decided to make the next ES game an MMO the very firsts question they asked themselves was this: Who will play this game?

The answer is MMO gamers. Also, just as many single-player gamers coming from ES games. If not more. So they made this game solo-friendly with great story-driven quests, unlike quests found in other MMOs. This is a lightweight MMO for a reason. It's easy to get everything you will ever need, while dungeons/trials and interacting with other people are optional.

The reality is my brother tried (and hated) other MMOs and he simply just can't believe this is different. Why would it be? In his view, MMOs are dumb and boring grindfests with the sole purpose of milking people. They are also skill-oriented. RMB/LMB is all you need in single-players. Pressing buttons is highly uncomfortable for these people, this is why there are so many LA/HA people in ESO.

Problem is pebbles aren't part of the navmesh, they have their own mesh which has it's own collision detection. Navmesh is just terrain, anything places on the terrain is separate from navmesh. #TheMoreYouKnow

That said they should just remove collision from objects a certain smaller size, no reason for pebbles to do this still :)

Don't convince him. MMOs are full of people, and people do things that annoy other people. If that's a deal-breaker, there are lots of great solo games.

    @lagrue
It doesn't have to be that way. I have worked on game engines that were perfectly capable of generating a combined navmesh from both terrain and placed (static) objects.

There's no inherent limitation to a navmesh that says it has to be terrain only ...

This is an MMO and it has way more in common with other mmos than it does the other Elder Scrolls games. 95% of the "solo" content just means that the words show up on your screen until you tell them to go away. The "jumping idiots" is the tip of the non rpg iceberg. From politics in chat to competitive flower picking, the list of things that pull you from a solo fantasy experience is overwhelming. Trying to pretended a mission is solo, when it's possible to see a boss get killed right when you arrive to save the day, simply kills your credibility.

Sell Elder Scrolls fans on the smaller guilds, the enjoyment of the co-operative group content, the in game economy and that kind of thing. Take them into a 4 man dungeon with you. Show them the small group experience yourself. There's tons of fun to be had, but it doesn't start by pretending this is a single player game. That expectation simply becomes the first hurdle in enjoying a game that is really fun when you simply take what it does offer instead of searching for an experience that doesn't exist.

If hes a big fan of TES, he misses a lot. This game adds tons of lore, books, there's many interesting npcs as well.
I'm also a fan of TES, and I bought this game just because its set in TES universe. At first I wasnt sure I would like it since I didnt really like MMOs at that time, and I thought I'd skip all group content and avoid talking to other players, but the community and mmo aspect are actually much better than I expected. :)
But the thing is, simple-player TES games provide a lot of freedom, basically you're a center of the world and you can even change that world with mods. Of course, this approach doesnt work in mmos. Also, the story in single player games revolves around your character, but in mmo its difficult (or even impossible) to make you feel like a "chosen one" because you see all those "chosen ones" everywhere.
So in my opinion, it depends on player's priorities. I think that ESO is great for those who love TES world and its lore, but it might not be so good for those who prefer the "heroic" aspect of previous TES games and/or cant play the game without mods. For each their own, after all. :)

P.S. That being said, I really think that ESO is worth a try if you like TES universe. Maybe you will like it, maybe not - but you wont know if you dont try it. I also thought that I would hate the mmo aspect and oh boy was I wrong.

This and I don't see jumping as an issue, only times I noticed is in dungeons the its kind of an ready, lets go signal.
dueling at wayshrines, spell spamming and npc killings is more of an issue.

And your automatic assumption, like most automatic assumptions, would likely be mistaken. Disregarding the iffy terrain at times, there's the joy of leaping over obstacles and reaching heights from which to people-watch, like the pole in Mournhold. It serves as an excellent means of indicating where you are if someone's following or otherwise looking for you (like if you're trying to trade). Maybe they remember Morrowind and are trying to level their acrobatics skill. Maybe they remember MMOs where you couldn't jump, and are enjoying the fact that they can. Perhaps, like me, they view leaping places and finding new paths and striking a balance between short cut and death to be an integral part of open world exploration.

Or maybe they're just bored, and watching how their tails or hair move as they jump up and down.

To be honest, your quick assumption says more about you than it does them.
