This dungeon is easy when compared to some of the others. But I have been in several pugs who could not complete it.

It requires decent damage dealers and players who know how to break free of her drain move. This is one of those fights where all it takes is a single player messing up to ruin it for the rest of the group.

it can potentially be hard for an inexperienced group that doesn't know abt the mechanics

a healer who just heal in the fight
a tank who doesn't have a dps setup to switch to <= that was me
two dps who don't have their build and rotation worked out

the melee in the group (including me) were dumb enough to keep chasing the boss around, and die to the AOE after teleport.
the ice wraith adds and later on frost atronach adds can take half a minute to kill and actually needed to be tanked (in high dps group they die in 5~10 seconds, it doesn't make a big difference whether or not i pierce armor them).
at least one person in the group either run out of stamina all the time, or has slow reflex, or really bad lag, and help the boss heal a big amount.

as tank, i have had vDirefrost run that took 30~60 minutes on the boss fight.

of course now i just put on hunding rage + vo/tfs so we have 3 dps to get through it quickly.

This dungeon should really not be considered hard. 2 steps to clear this HM, Have enough stamina to breakfree, breakfree fast. That's all you need.

No trouble at all with a half competent group. But if you get even one person who can’t conserve their stamina or just doesn’t get the whole breakfree = no healing thing then just forget it. It’s amazing how some people just don’t seem to get that simple mechanic.

in Duo , i was planning to do it solo but you need 2 person to open one door in this dungeon.

The only thing that can make last boss challenging, is when you have useless *** players that don't know how to break free. You'd think people would know the basic tutorial stuff....

Only thing I would want ZOS to change is to actually add an icon or message that tells you to break free when getting channelled by Drodda. I´ve no problem with the fight since I´ve done it many times. But for someone that´s new to the dungeon there´s no que about breaking free from either Drodda´s Apprentice or Drodda herself (Who´s got the same channelling attack)

Often have to barswap at the last boss if you can't break free. Also nice to use tristat pots for this fight. Remember to stay away from the big blast when she tp to you - even the tank. Otherwise this fight is not so bad. Most struggle with the break free since it might bug out but barswapping seems to fix this every time for me.

This. Actually I find that dungeon not even mediocre concerning difficulty. A former tank can go full DD at the endboss (if he has the gear for a switch for it), because she is untauntable and does random attacks. Bosses like the final ones in Tempest Islands and Spindleclutch 1 I find a lot more more difficult, really.

I can't understand how someone can NOT avoid the AoE of the endboss which he is doing when he ports to someone.

I can understand that someone may get heaved up by the boss without breaking free (which results in major healing for the boss) when someone is unaware of the mechanic of that special attack. All you just need to know, that you need a perma available minimum stamina pool for breaking free. I see often healers who are heaved up by the boss special attack who can't break free afterwards. As magicka DD/healer you should maybe do less blocking and more shielding and a really good advice is using tripots as a magicka char for that boss.

...and as with everything in ESO: As more dps as faster the boss will die and as less will be the chance for failure.

The only difficult think about the boss fight is when the game (again and still an issue) fails to register you break-free attempts. Spam the key(s) until she has release you (and always keep enough stamina). You can actually walk out of her AOE if you pay attention (she clearly telegraphs when she's about to do her teleport)

Few weeks ago I've met a tank (I got there as a replacement) that was singing a slightly modified version of Freddie Mercury's song:

"You've got to break free!
You've got-to-break-free-ee-ee-ee!"

And that's pretty much everything about mechanics in this dungeon .

BTW. The tank was there for few hours farming the dungeon over and over, said he has seen everything XD.

Direfrost really is far from being a hard dungeon.

Long time since I tried it and only managed non hard mode.
Don't think we knew the healing then CC part.
See my problem now, magic build blocked a lot because of the ice spikes who killed me fast, roll dodged out of aoe and probably did not have enough stamina to break CC

should have put with randoms that are fresh from the game trying to do vet coz theyre already lvl 50... seriously tho its way harder to explain how and when to use "break free" to someone whos not even talking/typing!!

Yes? I don't know what tips to provide you other than make sure to cc break whenever she does that channeling cc on you.

Last time I did it (must have been several months ago) I felt like an [snip] because one in the group didn't break free 9/10 times, so when he died we just didn't res and beat it without problem.

I found this entirely easy to avoid her circle AOE by Strafing sideways, basically walked sideways worked best. saved stam as well.

You dont need to use stamina in that fight for ANYTHING except that break free. If she ports to you to do the aoe you can just walk away.

The time I tried it was right after 1T dropped and she was bugged we got her down to about half then after that she went back to full health and we never got her health to go down at all after that.

I was able to glitch it with my NB shade, a while ago tho, and I couldnt get it to work again. I havnt personally found a viable way around it since that happened.

We used to be able to scattershot through the doors too, but they fixed that like a year ago

I'm sensing a thread pattern here...

Key to this one is staying upright (mostly by rolling out of the point blank AoE) and not sprinting so you have stam left for CC break when she channels.

The out-of-your-hands factor on this fight, if there is any kind of lag/skill delay, etc, it can be damn near impossible as she heals so quickly.

The other beneficial thing here is for someone to place a heal debuff on her during the channel, weather DK standard, templar Dark Flare, NB Deathstroke, Lethal Arrow, poisons, etc... Even sets like Durok's Bane can help, especially in those high latency situations.
