Poor guy, I got that mount and two others in the first 15 I opened. I got a second set of 15 and didn't do too bad with those either.

Wife wants a fancy mount and doesn't mind a gamble because she also likes a bunch of stuff in a given season. It's that simple, disposable income is disposable and the price of 100 crown crates is less than that of a night out.

RNG, the basis for games like this, is a form of gambling... you are aware of that right? You gamble with your time, and are offered gear/items as random rewards. Time is money - so you can't tell me its different in any way than spending money instead of time.

I respect you not wanting to buy Crown Crates, but I do get a good chuckle anytime somebody playing this game says they don't support gambling.

I mean... farming for specific piece of gear is as much of a gamble as crates. you'll likely get something to drop even if its a few gold coins, but there are no guarantees. as every thread ever complaining about trying to get that sharpened Maelstrom weapon will attest to. at least unlike lottery or casino gambling you WILL get something of a mob, or from a crate - a lot like buying booster packs of collectible cards. it might be low value but its something. with lottery or casinos there is a very high chance that you spend your money and get 0 of anything out of it. you know what is comparable in game? raffles. those weekly raffles so many trading guilds run. you buy your tickets but only a few people can actualy win so the rest of the ticket buyers? get NOTHING. how about THAT for gambling.

I buy anywhere from 0-12 per set, depending on if there is anything I like in them, a couple times I never bought any.
RNG really stinks so I am not big on the crown crates at all, would be 1000x's better just to flat out buy the stuff right from the store, my thoughts anyways.

Never purchased a single crown crate and NEVER will! Only crates I have opened are the free ones (9 total). I hate the gambling mechanic and refuse to financially support it. I will buy what I want straight from the Crown shop but if it's a crate item then I will just live without.

40% of forum community (thus far) have never purchased Crown crates. I'm not sure what to think, did I expect more or less than this number? I'm not sure anymore, but what I do know is that I'm glad I never paid for it.

Bought a few Reaper's Harvest crown crates in order to get some gems for the future. Maybe they release something interesting and crown exclusive one day. Apex mounts? They are ugly as hell, I'm not interested in them.

WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HATE CC'S WHINGE ABOUT OTHERS PAYING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR GAME??!!

For some people, those cosmetics are important. WHY DO YOU LOSE SLEEP OVER THIS?

Save your do-gooder attitudes about the evil corporations trying to expunge peoples morality through in-game micro transactions and maybe channel your energy towards some of the real life atrocities that happen every day.

*waves* Hello, me again. You may remember me from my persistent whinging during the Dwarven crate season? I was this guy about a month ago. It sucked. 3 months, 3 splurges, and fortunately, I managed to snag the cosmetic with 13/1000+ left to go.

Why did I want the ebon senche? Because it was super rare? Nope! Because it was black and gold; I have a black and gold character, and his established history dictates he'd do whatever it takes to get his hands on a mechanical mount like that. I weighed my options, decided I could afford to attempt it, and took the plunge.

I still don't understand people who assume those buying these things have some sort of "problem" or that they're rare-hunters being foolish for supporting the system. It's not like anyone prefers this to buying directly; we have the methods we have, and if this is how the devs have chosen to dish out their cosmetics, so be it. If we like it, we judge it. If we can afford it, we buy it. If we can't we weep. :D So it goes. We realize it's terrible, but it's not like they're going to apologize and rerelease all the goodies the regular way, now is it? Sometimes, the moral high ground feels nice. Other times, it just makes you want to stop playing.

A friend of mine not on the forums has spent nearly $1000 on trying to get that same, ugly green horse as the guy in OP's post. The only reason she stopped attempting it is because she ran out of spare cash, but I expect she'll keep trying with a chunk of her paycheck every 2 weeks until she either succeeds or they switch to the next crop.

Why does she want it? Because it's bright green. The end; story's over. She doesn't give a skeever's tailhair what other people think of her riding around on it; all she wants is to log in, see it on the character select screen, and be excited to own it. Hopefully, she gets it; she's one of my few original in-game friends left, and "because accessories" is a garbage reason to lose a companion.

I buy around 15 each season, sometimes more, sometimes less. I've been pretty lucky with crates, even the free ones, as I actually managed to get 2 Wild Hunt mounts from around 12 crates, 1 Dwemer mount from the free 5 crates and 1 Skeletal mount from 15 crates. Yes, I hear people who open 50 crates and get zero apex mounts. It's RNG.

To the people who rant about crates:
    1. Opening a handful of crates without getting anything good is not a valid reason to hate Crown Crates.
    2. Opening hundreds of crates without getting anything good is not a valid reason to hate Crown Crates.
    3. If you don't like gambling as a concept, that's a valid reason not to like Crown Crates.
    4. If there is nothing in the crates that interests you - not a reason to hate them, just don't buy any.

Don't expect to get them - it's gambling, it's RNG, it's pure luck. If it's worth it for you, go ahead. If it isn't, just don't do it.

I have a feeling that '40% of community never bought a single crate' is because most people come here to express their hatred towards Crown Crates and/or gambling.

It's that simple for dummies, sure. Just because we have disposable income doesn't mean supporting an anti-consumer *** value proposition gamble crate whale-hunting tactic is a good use of our disposable income. This gamble crate pandemic is not something I want to see standardised in this industry, as it's incredibly unfair to all of us, but mostly to the gamers who don't have the disposable income luckier guys like you, your wife, and I do.

So I suggest to you and to those who gave you awesome (LOL) to put attention to the quotation marks, the "games" the user is talking about are the scammy microtransactions et similia sordidly concealed as games, the crates are also a "game".

Not a single one. I can admit sometimes I've been tempted, because of the chance to get a mount or pet that's in one of the boxes. But getting one of those is kinda slim chances. So nope.

If I ever were to buy crates it would in the end be to get crown gems. At least I would be able to buy something nice with those, if I got around 500 of them. But dang it's hard to get many gems, I got 9.
