When i was 11 or 12 Ps3 came out. My uncle bought the ps3 on release and gave it to me. It was one of the few rare Ps3's that could play Ps2 games also.

My uncles account was bloodyninja so i wanted my own. My friends psn's name was PurpleKetchup which is where i got the idea for my own.

For some reason a 12 year old boy thought of GreenSoup. We happend to joke that it was some really spicy Soup that nobody but myself could handle, thus 2HoT.

The letters being capital was just to make it look cool. Ive stuck with the name ever since and im now 22 years old.

Its a very old og psn name. I always get compliments and to think i was 12 when i made it.

I've always been curious myself lol.

I have had this one since before the Internet even was really a thing.

In 1989, I was 16, and bored. At this point, the web didn't exist, and most people didn't own a PC at home. Mobile phones likewise were still very expensive brick sized things.

I discovered CB Radio. Being a child of the 70's, in the UK, and having a hippy father meant I had come across a small one-hit wonder band called The Bonzodog Doo Dah Band.

So, I liked the first part of it, and chose it as my "handle". As the Internet became a thing, I simply started using the name online on all my accounts.

I added the 01 simply because Bonzodog itself is often taken.

In the last month or so however, I have changed my Gamertag, and can now be found on XBox as "Neucoder". How i came by this one is difficult to explain, suffice to say I wanted a single short one word GT that just sounded neat.

Fodore is my simplified version of Theodore, just into 2 syllabals. I use this name almost everywhere for my account name, but for my ingame characters and around tamriel all of my friends call me Lucina, as in Lucina from fire emblem :) so ya, 1 name my account goes by and 1 name that I personally go by when being social ingame.

Pwnyridah, oldschool lvl 29 WoW hunter twink to wreck in BGs with all the best farmed gear for that level. Basically, my name plays on pwn, pony rider, ridah. It's designed to enrage and confuse victims. So essentially you think some kid who thinks he's a gangsta just unfairly owned you and then you have to say the name ponyridah in a fit of rage. And guess who's the pony?

I was hubris0 on SWG and still am at the BethSoft forum. It was sort of a joke, an oxymoron, both blasphemous arrogance and a total zero, a level of amused self-contradiction that I thought fit who I am pretty well.

I abandoned that pseudonym for gaming purposes when I started SWTOR. The meaning behind my new name?

Sekou means 'wise' (at least according to the various googlings I've done over the years). In reality, his first name is borrowed from Sekou Smith, an NBA journalist.

As for the last name, it is an homage to Trayvond the Redguard from Oblivion.

few things got me thinking about this topic:

first @Nestor 's story about how he came by his name – fashioned after a noble and wise characters from a fantasy novel…if I remember correctly though – I believe, Nestor, may not have actually been the name of the character of which he was thinking...the whole story behind it, and, the way he told it was pretty cool and fascinating :p

second – my own forum/gamer name: geonsocal…it’s supposed to be – geo(rge) living in southern california…being somewhat of a reclusive individual, I was trying to keep things low key, so I just mashed everything together all in lower case – now everyone calls me geon…

i remember the frst time i heard someone call me that in group chat - wait, wtf, who the hell is geon???

thirdly – staring incessantly at @GreenSoup2HoT 's name and knowing there must be some really deep meaning behind it…I mean, why in the world are some letters upper case and some letters lower case – there’s something going on there – i just can’t seem to grasp it…

some of you all amaze me with your depth, creativity and imagination when it comes to picking your monikers...

Please - if you get the chance, i’d love to hear the story behind your forum/gamer name...gracias :)

First, let me congratulate our new Community Ambassadors!!!

I'm not very original, so I was trying to come up with something that I could both identify with and remember. I was born in 1966, so that explains that.....and tells my age. I'm also a major fan of Criminal Minds and if it's on television, then I've got it on somewhere in the house. If it isn't on television anywhere, I can watch it on DVD if I need a fix.

Pathetic story, I know, but it is what it is.

I had to change it to recently as I was fed up with being messaged things in german as everyone assumed i was due to the meister part. As all my guildies called me "buff" i had to incorporate that and came up with l0rd buffington.

Back in the mid-90's, when I was making my first online nickname, I plagiarized drew inspiration from the nickname of one of my friends. IIRC, he went by something like Dataman25, which he had named after the character Data from Star Trek TNG (which was also one of my favorite shows of all time) and he picked 25 because it was a perfect square.

So my first name was "Data256". 256, BTW, is a much better number than 25--it's ((2^2)^2)^2, so not only is it a perfect square, but its square roots are also perfect squares and the square roots of those are squares too. (Or in the language of a more modern meme, "Yo dawg, I heard you like squares, so let me square your squared square.")

But that name wasn't received well because it was too similar to that of my friend's name and I was rightfully chided for my lack of originality. Since I'm a programmer, the natural counterpart to "data" would be "code", so the next name that I picked was "Code256". That never made it off the ground, because when I tried to create an e-mail address with that name, I found that someone else already had it.

So finally, I just squared 256 again to arrive at 65536, which is actually a much better number than 256 since I can write it as code2↑³3 using Knuth's Arrow Notation. And that's what I've used for the past two decades.

Sounded cool so I used it for myself.

My rl name is Chase, and my handwriting is and always has been terrible.

Many moons ago, in high school, a teacher had asked one of the students to pass back papers while he did something else. The girl started calling out the names on the papers and handing them back, but when she got to mine she paused and said, "..... Who's Cheese?"

My friends in the class then started mockingly calling me Cheese for the next few weeks, then one of our mutual friends heard the story behind it and said, "Well if you're going to be Cheese you might as well be a good one, like pepper jack or something."

Its been my gaming name ever since, but once online gaming became more popular I found Pepper Jack was being taken more and more frequently, so I added the 8 to the middle for no reason other than wanting some kind of symmetry as opposed to having numbers at the end of my name lol

Coincidentally, I do really like the name Jack (Even though everyone online calls me Pepper) and have used it to name everyone one of my animal companions in games (i.e. Fable II). Fast-forward to now, my gf and I adopted a dog and she proposed we name him Jackson... and I of course call him Jack for short.

Also pepper jack cheese is singularly the best cheese in existence, though that's not necessarily related.

I don't watch a lot of TV now, but I used to watch (and still enjoy) a lot of British comedies. My favourite British comedy is "Red Dwarf", a show about four guys who are lost in space and are trying to get back to Earth. My ESO username comes from the surname of the main character, Dave Lister, combined with the initials of the company they work for, the Jupiter Mining Corporation (JMC). I tried for just "Lister", but it was already in use so I had to add the initials on the end.

So in short, I'm named after this guy:

Names are always challenging for me... I can't play a game if the name just doesn't suits the style or character and therefor I always put a lot of time into searching for great names. But this one, "Thaiden" is my go-to name. It just suits the Elder Scrolls and my character.

As for the others, I have Ysmir and Ysgran and for surname I use my guild name "Wolfheart".

I've also thought of Wolfheart back when guilds were added in either the closed Alpha or Beta. My friends and I always used to play as the Wolf-squad when playing Battlefield etc. but that just didn't fit ESO and then I came up with Wolfheart.

Fun little thing is my Character "Ysmir Wolfheart" comes close to the real name of General Talos! His real name was Ysmir Wulfhart (which actually translates into Wolfheart) and I didn't even noticed this until a month later haha!
