Long time ago I got the nickname Spirit, but the character died and became a ghost. After that I teamed up with a guy playing an assassin. Black representing the assassins. When he suggested we play eso, Black's got added to Ghost. Since punctuation is minimal in names Blacksghost it is.

I love names and randomly play at making names up. If I ever make an argonian she's going to be named Drowned-by-lag. Quite fancy playing an imperial General. Who naturally would be named Neusaans.
Everything will be alright in the end, if its not alright its not the end.

For the my current ESO username, Starry-Wolf, it's mostly because I'm a lover of space things, esp. stars, and that wolves have been my favorite animal since I was tiny. For my more common name WuffyCerulei, Wuffy is a nickname I gave myself eons ago, and around the same time, I found our that Cerulei was one latin word for blue, my favorite color. It just kinda came together, and everyone in-game knows me as Wuffy.

My account name is a kinda embarrassing story really.. I came up with it when I was ten or eleven (18 years ago) and had just started exploring the internet.
I wanted to have just "Moonpaw" but it was taken on some site.. So my prepubescent brain said "oh it'd be cool with a C too!" even though it made no sense.
    And it stuck.

Edit: The good thing is that it's never taken!

Back in the eighties my first home computer was an MSX computer. Later I bought an MSX2 on which I played *a lot* of Konami games.
One of my favourites was (and is) KingKong2. One of the best and first action RPG's ever released.

The Island on which this game is situated is called Golnebo. So that is where my name comes from.

My name comes from the song 'Amour' by Rammstein. It's a lovesong that I used to hear A LOT when I break up with my first love. I was 18 back then and had a relationship with a guy I met in a MMO who lived about 250 miles away so it was a no brainer that we had no chances at all. That song spoke directly out of my soul so I became Amour.

A few years later we got in touch again and I moved to him. Now we're married and play eso together. <3

Mine was quite a simple one....

When skyrim first came out I got hooked and back into gaming, my main charachter was a dark elf & I loved to burn things (Thats just something I've always enjoyed! lol... love fire)...

So I wanted to come up with a name for that charachter that included the word 'Flame'.... that turned into Flaminir, and its then stuck through every game since, and now feels like its actually my middle name or something like that :D

The vast majority of people seem to think I am a Zelda fan, yet I have never played it.

I'm actually an archaeologist with an interest in Romano-British/Celitc culture, that is where the name comes from.

I've been using this name since *before* the Zelda game that introduced a character with that name, which makes it doubly annoying. It is however my online identity, and has been for a very long time, and I'm not going to change it because of a game.

    Hence my signature :D

Pretty dull really. My real name is Brian - at some point at work, there was a fella who like dishing out nicknames - so it became a thing for everyone to have one. Went through a number of 'versions' - all with similar letters/sounds as my real name... 'Biryani, Baroni, Biro'.. Biro stuck - simply being the shortest.

Been using it online for around 25 years now - since Quake 1.

My original handle for ESO was WillAfton which was a character I had in Shadowrun who also happened to be a character from Five Nights at Freddy's, on top of that everyone thought it was my real name so was calling me Will. I'm a woman so it got just a bit awkward. I still use the name occasionally.

Simaris is a cephalon from Warframe who has no concept of personal space and is also apparently planning software. But I named myself after the cephalon.

    Ah... story time!

Once upon a time, there was this very shy person who always kept lurking on forums, never daring to post. But as time went by, one gets better at handling the sociophobia, and finally there came the day when this person thought: "I will finally make an account and post things on a form about things I care about!" - that was a Babylon-5 forum, so said person thought long and hard about a forum handle... wanting something that showed the appreciation fort the favorite race in that series (the Shadows), but not sound too pretentious... and eventually settled on "ShadowScout" since the idea of the double meaning was considered mildly amusing - it could both be taken as the name of the small scout ship the shadows use, and of the occupation, being a mere scout for the shaodows. And this... it has been "ShadowScout" ever since that day, back in what, Y2K?

As for character names... they are all anagrams of the name I selected for the first dark elf character I ever played, back in the days of D&D pen&paper roleplaying... it amuses me to rearrange the letters ever so often. Thus:

There's an anime/manga/music series with like, three different names (the anime is Mekakucity Actors, the manga is Kagerou Days, and the concept album is called Kagerou Project), and there's a character in the franchise named Kido Tsubomi, whom I really like and related to very well, so I jacked her name and made it "Swagomi" instead as a joke for my Tumblr URL and the name ended up sticking throughout all of my online presences.

This has been a fun thread to read.

This name goes deep into my AD&D roots, at a time when I was learning German. I had the (bad) habit of using German for names, and many medieval names reflected professions. This one is "Judge", which fitted my Lawful Neutral, but i spent like 30 seconds on the name and it was not very creative. At the end of his campaign, he was the feudal Lord of a small keep, which completed the name. Most of the people I played with associated me with the name. I decided to use it for my ESO forum name. I was surprised it was not taken, actually. It usually is.

My game account uses a different character name from my dark past. My game account was created at a different time than my forum account.
