I just checked something else. I haven't slept yet and I don't think I have counted perfectly, but it seems that Summerset has 56 map icons (including wayshrines etc) while Vvardenfell had roughly 49. Summersets map looks really empty at first, but it's actually averagely filled appearently.

    Trinimac is my shield,

Six more icons come from Abyssal Geysirs which are missing on Vvardenfell. Would be interesting to see what the other three might be. Houses maybe?

Good point indeed, yet these are actually more relevant than most other locations. There is action :)
Anyway, even if we ignore these, then we do still have an equal number of locations roughly.

You know, I'm with you on your conquest. I just thought I add something to consider.

I saw it now. Well, I think I did not even count in houses. Maybe I did...... I'm not sure.

My Screens shows that Summerset is with high probability bigger than Vvardenfell. The size ratio of Summerset map and Summerset is very strong. The map don´t reflect the real size of Summerset.

I feel like the moutain to the south should just be open fields and have maybe1 quest I dont know why it needs to be there like it is rn. Its so out of place.

    Less work for the devs...
    Less content for the players...
more money saved for the devs...
more time and more money for the devs that can be used to make more Crown Store stuff...

I don't think these devs care about Quality of content anymore to be honest...

I have to disagree: I believe that the devs did a great job in the time span in which the expansion was developed. The only thing which we might criticize is that this time span was likely too short for an island of the scale shown in the old maps, with the result that the actual map does not properly reflect this size. They could have published only a part of the island, but I think what we have now is a good compromise. We still have some parts of the Island which still have the possibility to get some love in a future update. I like this, because who knows what nice future features we will get? :)

Just wanted to add something that people in this thread have overlooked. The area I have marked in red, is actually the Aldmeri Grotto home and is accessible. The Grotto is inside the mountain :) Not defending the general direction of this thread though. I am still convinced, that we have been lied to and that Summerset is not bigger than Vvardenfell in any way.

The area you encircled looks way to big even for the large grotto.

Yeah, I meant relatively speaking w.r.t. full sized TES games... compared with those is kinda small. What I mean is, even if you extrapolate a lot, you would be hard pressed to make a full TES single player located in Summerset without contradicting ESO's portrayal [1]. Can we agree with that at least?

W.r.t the zones available in ESO, I agree that it is at least as larger as Vvardenfell... even if feelings deceive due to PoV and type of landscape. But, as I said, I'm more worried about what will this imply for the future of the series...

[1] Unless they retcon a lot of it, or don't consider it as canon, which in itself has also negative implications, IMO of course.

But let's be honest: its not fair to compare a chapter with Skyrim which had way more development time.

At the beginning I was concerned about the size of Summerset. For example the roads shown on the map were way larger than in Auridon. But if I see the latest map comparison and the movie with the beautiful landscape I am confident that it will be a great expansion.

As I see it, it´s not something specially big. Same as Auridon. Not big enough for a so called "chapter". Specially with all those uncrossable mountains.

According to this pictures, explorable part of Vvardenfell almost 30% bigger then explorable part of Summerset or in other words explorable part of Summerset almost 23% smaller then explorable part of Vvardenfell.

Well, there we have it folks.
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

Size doesn't matter. Skyrim was smaller and still awesome.

lol no, skyrim is tiny and a broken game that was good until literally anything TES came out, hence ESO.

OP is wrong about Morrowind. We actually climbed up Red Mountain and took screenshots inside the hottub lava pool at the summit. B)
My 700h of Skyrim truly helped with all the climbing and texture skipping hahaha.
