4th restoration staff now, and 2nd dagger. Still haven't seen a destruction staff of ANY kind, let alone a lightning staff since the Orsinium DLC was initially released a long time ago. RNG working as intended, right?

I got what I was going for (sharpened 1h axe) on about my 6th clear of VMA since double drop week started so I guess I'm pretty lucky. I never really did VMA before this week and I'm going to farm the crap out of it and hopefully get a sharpened dagger, sharpened bow (have precise and nirnhorn but I think sharpened is still better), and hopefully a sharpened destruction staff.

I have quite a few maelstrom restos now in nirnhorn, precise, powered .... which is best for healing?

In my opinion, you're better off with precise. Although there are some people who believe powered to be superior.

A master's resto instead but for maelstrom restos I'd go with precise personally.

Charged Lightning staff/ Precise Ice Staff

Kept the 2 daggers, Powered Resto, Precise Ice staff and Charged Lightning.

The good old times when vMA made me rage. If it does make you rage, you haven't run it often enough.

Now, over 400 runs later and still without the weapon I want, I don't remember when I had my last non-flawless run. It's like, port in, close your eyes, waste ~40 min of your life, get crap, port out, repeat.

Yesterday: Nirnhoned GS and Nirnhoned frost staff. Could be worse.

This morning: Nirnhoned bow (YAY!... considering it's my first bow) and another Precise sword.

Plz give decent dagger and/or axe by the 21st. Would also accept decent lightning staff or fire staff.

I'm trying to get a Precise Greatsword and haven't even come close yet. 15 runs and I've mostly gotten resto staves and sharpened axes.

Fun fact: I've ran Maelstrom 3-4 times a week, every week since Orsinium came out and I've never gotten a Sharpened Maul. It's not even BiS anymore -- I just want one now out of principle.

Update: 10 clears now. Scores of sword and board, 1 Sharpened Lightning Staff (that I'll never use), 1 Precise Bow, and finally, 1 Sharpened 1h axe. The axe kinda makes it worth.

I FINALLY COMPLETED VMA! I got decisive sword with impen shield and a decisive resto staff

I finished my second completion last night (first time doing it on a Sorc). Got a sharpened greatsword and an infused resto staff. That run took 3 hours compared to a week my first time lol

Well second run is complete and I am happy to say I got a precise bow and a defending axe. Gotta admit I am pretty happy with the bow.

I raise you a SPC powered resto (defending and precise are both good options too), then you can wear 1p heavy Kena for some Undaunted and less squishiness

@Eweroun I would but empirically, precise/ charged vmsa < random sharpened staff.
From a PvE perspective, precise isn't that bad on mobs. But who cares about trashwaves, it's the bosses that count. I guess you could use Charged Inferno on a back-bar with Burning Spellweaver and enjoy all the burns, this is what I'm doing atm. But it still has a very limited utility in group dungeons, since Overload + dual wield is still better for vMSA.

However, I'm mainly a PvP player. I don't have a PvE guild, nor am I interested in dungeons/trials/w.e beyond getting achievements, titles, and skins, since I'm an achievement wh*re. So, having gotten my Mageslayer, Dro'Mathra, Boethia's Scythe, Flawless, Overlord, Shatterer, and even Monster Hunter, I thought I was done with it.

And, from a PvP perspective, any trait other than sharpened is useless. The only exception being vDSA destruction staves, which would be viable in Infused, since more magicka = more fun and shields, on the condition that you use Spinner with it, to compensate for the loss of penetration. I ran vDSA a lot. Less than vMSA but nonetheless a substantial amount of times, and the best I got was Precise Inferno.
And Precise is useless against players, who mostly wear Impen, apart from the occasional magicka sorc or ganker.
Additionally, over 3/4 of Cyrodiil are in Heavy Armor, meaning that the penetration from Sharpened by far outclasses any other trait there is.

As I've said earlier in some other QQ thread about the bad RNJ, sadistic devs, and overall bore of vMSA, there's a reason why Spriggan, Spinner and all the penetration traits/sets are in high demand. While ZOS did its best (which doesn't mean much all things considered) to improve other traits, sharpened is just way too good.

Just did my third run in an hour less than yesterday's. Got a defending inferno staff and a decisive frost staff.

My last 3 runs: Sharpened Ice Staff/Defending Lightning Staff, Sharpened Ice Staff/Defending Lighting Staff, Infused Resto/Precise Resto. Yes that is a double not a typo, so I got a double, double, double. Edited to fix typos ha ha.
