Plunder skull Achievement BUG

    And now suddenly lots of motifs. Turned out the sample space wasn't anywhere big enough. :)

    Wondering if something happened to the Hollowjack motif drop rate as well. Before the bug, the motif/recipe ratio from the skulls appeared to be roughly equal. With the bug, I've received a single motif and no end of recipes. Of course, that's only based on 90 minutes of farming Irontooth, which doesn't provide a solid sample space, but looking odd none the same.

    The Hippocratic Principle is best for bug fixing: "First, do no harm."

    Maybe you ought to do your patches on the PTS first. It wouldn't have taken very long for people to have noticed the bug there.

    I was distinctly less than amused when I survived helping to beat up Limbscather with a Level 3 character and then it didn't give me the Essence of Death I needed to go on with the quest.

    There are other bugs too, for instance the one that causes unwanted changes in values in the crafting interface, that have lingered for just about forever. Not enough to make me stop playing but it's still annoying as hell when these things go on for months and years without being addressed.

    1st we have monday update that was last forever and now we have this. I dont imagine to not get additional day of event to compensate that issues.

    Honestly, they should not have to install it on PTS to find something like this. They have internal servers. They just need to do the work to find this stuff. As players, we are not the proper people to be testing and we should not even be involved in this level of testing.

    Another thought is that no one is really deliberately making changes that accidentally result in harm, but they have a build process that injects errors when parts of it glitch. I hope this is not the case, but some of the words they have used in the past during ESO Plus make me think this.

    I'm not that fired up or upset about it, but I have to agree. They should take some ownership and responsibility in this. 3-4 hrs is one thing but losing whole days on a time sensitive promotional event is another. And it's not just a few people it's affecting. They should probably implement some sort of damage control. Some folks are really really mad. Lol!

    Alright guy's, don't come to these forums often. Enjoying the Halloween event and not upset about the skulls not counting towards the achievement as it will take me a lot longer to get the mask I want, RNG hates me in every game.

    Just wondering if it usually takes this long to get an ETA on a fix, last I read it was to be patched in the morning but according to the Google that's been and gone state side...

    Remember when brian said they had a fix for the group bug but really didnt? Now this? We are (well some of us are) adults here. We can handle the truth. We dont like being misled or lied to or ignored. The bug isnt even an issue to me. How bugs get handled are what matters.

    Now, I am not among those who call for the Halloween event to be extended for a week due to this lapse in the achievement counter for plunder skulls (a ludicrous demand, by any standard). Neither am I prepared to send my lawyers (again, ludicrous) on you nor stop playing the game (well, every customer has their own breaking point, this is far from being mine) due to this particular bug.

    But. I do have some beef with this particular mode of seeking to appease the hordes clamouring at your doors. If you throw a dog (granted, a very intelligent dog, that understands human speech and has a good memory) a bone and promise it the steak that sat on it within a reasonably short interval and fail to deliver within what that timeframe suggests, the dog will be sorely disappointed (sad puppy eyes and the lot) or hungrily upset. And likely to start barking even worse and scratch the door even more fiercely.

    So, what I am trying to say is that ... unless "soon" and "a little bit longer" means "to be expected within the hour", I recommend using less immediate sounding terms, or at least to make a follow-up post when "a little bit longer" can reasonably be expected to have expired.

    While the bug is non-critical and has probably been introduced when you [zos] attempted to fix the glitchy quest journal code introduced with the festival shennanigans it is ridiculous that you are still not doing anything approximating to effective regression testing.

    Time to stop fiddling around with festivals, funny hats and rubbish and do a thorough overhaul of your code-base so it's synchronised to properly reflect ALL bug-fixes rather than this absurd process you are currently stumbling around with that keeps merging old, buggy code with more recent versions thereby re-introducing older bugs (such as the wrong keen-eye graphic for resource nodes making those nodes practically invisible) that have actually been fixed, in some cases years ago, and introducing school-child errors such as this current bug.

    I guess you[zos] all must be pretty embarassed by this - as you should be. Incrementing a counter isn't rocket science but I have an uncomfortable suspicion that whatever 'fix' you eventually arrive at by whatever random process of problem solving you currently use will result in more server downtime and the introduction of new bugs and the re-introduction of old bugs.

    I actually believe that you believe this. I do. But consumer confidence at this point is as likely to move upwards as the plunder skull count.

    Extend the event if this isn't going to be fixed any time soon. It isn't fair to us that have this bug and we already spent so many hours grinding for this, this has been the most boring thing I have ever done in this game but I want it and I stuck with it but I'm stuck at 78 and I can't increase my credit due to this bug. There is only a few days left so please fix this or extend the event OR at least give us the credit that the bug prevented our credit.
