So what do I do when the game says I don't have enough harddrive space since its already installed the EU client..? can I just remove the EU from the folder name and update the EU client like it was the NA one or do I have to reinstall the whole game?

You'll need to download the update first (it should only be about 2.3GB), then you can remove the EU folder. If you do it the other way around, you'll need to re-download the entire game.

I tried to do it but its not downloading the patch I guess, the launcher updated and I tried to rename the folder and now it says the 30gb free I got isn't enough to repair the game.

I have first a 1.6 GB download, but with no explanation, my computer restart during the download !!! (I don't know if it's a windows update or if launcher does).

So I start again the launcher, and know, I have to download 40GB... Appart this, I don't have NA displayed but EU (my original setting).

Do you know what happens ?

    Try this guys

    Solution For Steam Users :

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online

Rename the folder : The Elder Scrolls Online EU to The Elder Scrolls Online

    Downloading patch curretly.

For normal users try to rename folder like i did might work

Btw since 3 big patch i am having the same problem everytime it says i have to download whole game again thanks for not fixing this launcher for real! @ZOS_GinaBruno

Ok guys, just to make sure we're all on the same page...
    • The patcher will display the server as NA, but this is a display error that will be fixed soon. Server selection (NA or EU) can be chosen once you log in.
    • The size of the patch should be about 2.3GB. Let the update fully run; the step for verification sometimes makes it look like the patch is much larger than it actually is.

i only got one option when i did open the launcher, and that was to update the laucher it self. after that i only have NA server options on my list together with pts, and since i dont have the eu server I DO NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE HOLE GAME AGAIN if i then dont rename THE ELDER SCROLL ONLINE EU folder to THE ELDER SCROLL ONLINE. i never got the option to download patch before upgradeing the launcher.

but anyways, im used to that zos fuckes up things now....

Sometimes you just have to ask "why?".

Why change the launcher - so that it thinks it's NA?

Why change the launcher to remove the realm status?

Why take away something that worked and was useful? :(

Your new launcher decided it's time to install a vcredist and then proceeded to restart my pc without asking first :#. It also moved the game folder before the restart. When I started the launcher again afterwards it asked me to reinstall the whole game. Manually moving the folder back to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" fixed it fortunately.

Honestly, when will you throw that piece of garbage out and make a real launcher that works without driving your players crazy? It's the first piece of software - after the broken website - that a new player gets to see...

    Hi,

I think I had the same matter. Could you precise what you have done cause the launcher start the whole game download.

When I read your message, I pause the download, hoping to fond a way to restore the original folder

For everyone that only gets the "INSTALL" option:

    - Quit the Launcher
    - Go into your ESO folder (it seems that the Launcher has automatically removed the "EU" (or "NA"))
    - Rename the Folder to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" (or "NA") again
    - Restart the Launcher... it should now update automatically instead of prompting to INSTALL the game.

I would also like realm status back on the launcher - I understand that the launcher now covers NA, EU, and PTS, but could there not be 3 lines with lights on the launcher? So it could read:

NA Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
EU Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
PTS (little red/blue light indicating status).

Looking at the launcher now, it all looks very pretty, but is missing the vital information about whether I can actually log in to any particular server.

For me, it says that I have not enough disk space, even though I have 55GB free. It is pretty wierd. I guess I have to redownload the whole game -_-

Did you happen to re-name your ESO folder before applying the update? Re-naming could cause you to only get the Install button; the correct name for the folder should just be "The Elder Scrolls Online".

No, your launcher did rename it to 'The Elder Scrolls Online' before abruptly rebooting my pc. I had to manually rename the folder back to 'The Elder Scrolls Online EU' for it to work .

Funny thing is the launcher then renamed it again and now it seems ok.

@IrishGirlGamer Of course we'll have both characters. Ever since console launched they only needed to have one copy of ESO on the console.. and then once in game could choose to play EU or NA. Now PC will work like that too. Still seperate servers, just now we use the same game client.

Well, being fair it is particularly puzzling that the new launcher wasn't built from scratch to include the realm status light and that it always shows NA. Your rant isn't exactly unjustified, it's just that the benefits to the change outweigh the downsides.

Yes, it doesn't affect them at all. Everything server-side is the same as it was before (well, no lots of things server-side are different obviously, but everything in terms of who's got which characters where, and whether the 2 servers can interact with each other), it's just that the launcher is different and you only need 1 installation to play on both servers now.

The problem seems to be the launcher installing the latest microsoft vc files and automtically restarting your comptuer (Win10 here). It renamed but the restart interupted the launcher and it loses where the folder now is and tries install new. Finding and manually renaming fixed it for me too.

The sad thing is, I don't think it is that complicated to do, I am not the world's premier web guru but I think all that would be needed is for the launcher to ping the servers and see if there is a response, and display a red/blue light for each server depending upon response time. Unless I have completely misunderstood how it works, it's not rocket science.

This worked for my girlfriend. Thank you.

The problem is due to the update process being interrupted by reboot on some machines because of the vcredist install.
