You'll need to download the update first (it should only be about 2.3GB), then you can remove the EU folder. If you do it the other way around, you'll need to re-download the entire game.

- The patcher will display the server as NA, but this is a display error that will be fixed soon. Server selection (NA or EU) can be chosen once you log in.
- The size of the patch should be about 2.3GB. Let the update fully run; the step for verification sometimes makes it look like the patch is much larger than it actually is.
So that you can play on both servers without requiring 2 installations.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »Sometimes you just have to ask "why?".
Why change the launcher
Those are both things that will be fixed in a future patch - evidently they weren't ready in time for this update and weren't considered important enough to delay the update.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »- so that it thinks it's NA?

Because it's better to not require 2 installations.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »Why take away something that worked and was useful?

I'm greatly annoyed. The updated launcher asked me to update vc_redist every time I opened it. So I said yes, and it instantly reboot my computer to install updates... and closed out applications I had work in that was unsaved.

Your new launcher decided it's time to install a vcredist and then proceeded to restart my pc without asking first. It also moved the game folder before the restart. When I started the launcher again afterwards it asked me to reinstall the whole game. Manually moving the folder back to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" fixed it fortunately.
Honestly, when will you throw that piece of garbage out and make a real launcher that works without driving your players crazy? It's the first piece of software - after the broken website - that a new player gets to see...

The problem is that even though our "The Elder Scrolls Online" folder is already 50GB+, it still wants to download the whole game, since we only get a "Install" button. For me, it says that I have not enough disk space, even though I have 55GB free. It is pretty wierd. I guess I have to redownload the whole game -_-

Did you happen to re-name your ESO folder before applying the update? Re-naming could cause you to only get the Install button; the correct name for the folder should just be "The Elder Scrolls Online".

For everyone that only gets the "INSTALL" option:
- Quit the Launcher
- Go into your ESO folder (it seems that the Launcher has automatically removed the "EU" (or "NA"))
- Rename the Folder to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" (or "NA") again
- Restart the Launcher... it should now update automatically instead of prompting to INSTALL the game.

No, your launcher did rename it to 'The Elder Scrolls Online' before abruptly rebooting my pc. I had to manually rename the folder back to 'The Elder Scrolls Online EU' for it to work .
Funny thing is the launcher then renamed it again and now it seems ok.

How does this effect characters we've created on either realm? I'm assuming the realms won't merge, and we still can't trade between characters, seperate bank, etc, but we will still have our characters, correct?
Well, being fair it is particularly puzzling that the new launcher wasn't built from scratch to include the realm status light and that it always shows NA. Your rant isn't exactly unjustified, it's just that the benefits to the change outweigh the downsides.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »So that you can play on both servers without requiring 2 installations.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »Sometimes you just have to ask "why?".

Yes, sorry for the rant... I'd just worked that out for myself and now feel particularly stupid.
Though in my defence I tried to use Minion and it failed because my liveeu folder is now empty, which put me in a mood

Yes, it doesn't affect them at all. Everything server-side is the same as it was before (well, no lots of things server-side are different obviously, but everything in terms of who's got which characters where, and whether the 2 servers can interact with each other), it's just that the launcher is different and you only need 1 installation to play on both servers now.IrishGirlGamer wrote: »So that you can play on both servers without requiring 2 installations.I_killed_Vivec wrote: »Sometimes you just have to ask "why?".

Yes, this would be the ideal way for it to show up IMO.I would also like realm status back on the launcher - I understand that the launcher now covers NA, EU, and PTS, but could there not be 3 lines with lights on the launcher? So it could read:
NA Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
EU Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
PTS (little red/blue light indicating status).
Looking at the launcher now, it all looks very pretty, but is missing the vital information about whether I can actually log in to any particular server.
