What do you think of Crown Store Random boxes/Lottery box?

For me, I'm on day 4. My second account got a mind shriven horse (I already have it on both accts on live), a battlemage outfit I don't want, a storm atro juggle (underwhelming), and enveloping scales (for argonian)...And a bunch of duplicates that still only brought me to 170 gems.

My main account for day 4 got an evening dress (I didn't want it then, I don't now), a dwarf mage hat (don't want), a clever man hat (also don't want), arubic symbols skin (another I have no use for), a bunch of duplicates, and a total of 155 gems (after 4 days, none spent). That's not including all the junk potions and other useless stuff.

Majority of people are against the CrownCrates, but they want CrownCrates still to be sold in the Store they've been monitoring closely trying to find a way to put this.

So they purposely released CrownCrates in PTS with very *** bad *** bad drop rate to enrage people to kinda lower their expectation. Next they would pretend to listen to the community and readjust the drop rates of items. Lastly, seeing things improved everyone happy in the end with CrownCrates in the Store, and forgot that they were originally against the whole thing at the first place.

I don't care as long as it contains no p2w items, but I think they added consumables and the mimic stone so that's kinda fishy. However, I'd say just add them and let the gamblers gamble. Drinking and smoking addiction are also real things, but alcohol and ciggaretes are no problem, so why not a lil rng box for the weak gamblers? :^)

Well of course. They have at least one expert in this stuff on staff after all.

First they throw us a giant flaming turd and we complain bitterly. Then they'll pour some water on the turd to put out the fire and spritz a little perfume on it. And we will be so grateful we run to empty our wallet to get our piece of the turd while praising them profusely for putting out the fire.

Except for those of us who still aren't going to gamble real money for virtual items we want to just buy.

Clearly they assume we're in the minority and most people will be so grateful they were listened to when they cried "fire" and it's not as bad as they feared that they'll empty their wallets in gratitude.

I can't believe anyone would want this. If they really hired someone who has experience doing this crap then it's not going anywhere. I guess it will be me leaving and if they ever wise up I will come back. 2+ years has been a good run, it took them longer than most to disappoint me.

I didn't mind this when I was foolishly hoping that it would only be an assortment of cosmetics and mounts, but filling the table with junk like consumables just breaks this for me. What a way to make me never want to buy one.

They are playing the boundaries game my friend. Slowly move that needle towards red. They've been playing this game long term on us. Since the very beta release in 2014. ZOS has a diabolical marketing department. I remember reading an article about ZOS's marketing strategy about a year ago and how downright devious and clever they were with the B2P conversion.

I bet we will get a F2P basegame move when Housing is released, "It'll be great! All those new players in Tamriel! And if they like the basegame, well they can buy our DLC Packs or Sub!"

What is wrong with crates even if you don't buy cosmetic anyway? I finally realized what was that feeling of bad sign I had - they are saying good bye to honest players and fair paying customers - they are saying it is not enough for them if you just buy their game and support them. Because the ones, who will leave, are like that and subscribers mostly, so without support of such players, they will have no other option than FtP and microtransactions. And by adding those crates, it is clear, that they don't care about such customers and that it is exactly what they want, so yes, my vote is FtP and mobile games like marketing model. It would be different, if there would be only cosmetic in the crates. But with those beverages, that has to be strong enough for players to buy them - it is quite pay to win.

Well, if that is better for the management... But I don't know about the game.

Will you be continuing to tweak the crates based on user feedback, and will the newly announced changes (and potentially other changes) land on the PTS before One Tamriel drops?

We may make more changes than we announced today - there are still some other things we are looking at and assessing feedback. I don't know if we'll have those changes on PTS or not - but they will be in before they go live and we'll be sure to announce what is changing before we do so.

There's more there now (or on another question can't remember). Matt mentions special themed mounts but continously dodges discusing the ratio of exclusive to non-exclusive, or stating exactly what in the pts crates would be considered exclusive.

It's not a datamined item, though. It's one of the Crown Crate offerings currently available on the PTS via Crates but not via the Crown Store, which is why people are asking about it.

Based on what I've seen on the PTS it looks like the run of the mill costumes/mounts/etc. will go up for sale but all the really cool cosmetics will be locked behind the gambling wall.

And the Red Wolf was already datamined to be in a Crown Box season, so I doubt that's gonna change.

Yep, as will virtually all of the new content datamined. Which makes me wonder how long in advance they really have been planning all of this after all? Those are a LOT of costumes/mounts/motifs/pets, etc.

If it weren't for their false-scarcity tactics of 'limited time only' crown store stuff, the store would absolutely be packed with cool stuff that people could buy whenever they wanted for a fixed price. And yet by forging ahead with these crown crates forcing people to gamble if they want a chance at any of the 'coolest' stuff, they are actively driving away potential customers as well as dedicated subscribers..

I've already decided that I will go ahead and just cancel my sub the day these crates go live, crafting bag be damned. I just can't support this.

I find it funny, I am an ESO+ paying type customer, I have access to all the DLC's for free and had a ton of crowns... I bought the DLC's just to spend the crowns...

So the Crown Store will have chests that folks can *** away crowns on and get stuff... and it sounds like mostly useless stuff...

A fool and his (or her) money are soon parted, feel free to part with all you want.
