Does anyone still use "common" racial motifs?

I almost exclusivly use common motif, with a few exception to axes. I have my own mix of motif and they all look awesome. Some poeple often send me a tell asking what motif is my armor.

I'm using Mercenary on my nightblade, but I still like khajiit and Breton styles for some of my other characters.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

I really don't care about motif. I learn them to satisfy the completionist in me. If a style material has value, I prefer to sell it.

I use them on characters that I have yet to level high enough that I feel comfortable using the style materials for (some of them are hard to come by when you avoid the Guild Stores) and others that I have yet to decide what I will use at end game.

    Korith uses Mercenary
Enrerion uses Altmer until I move him to Ancient Elf
Laerinel uses Glass but I might move her to Outlaw
Caius uses Imperial and will probably leave it at that for now
Tenarei uses Bosmer but I want to move her to Primal
    Dazsh uses Khajiit
    Aban uses Redguard
Gardoq uses Orc but I want to move him to Ancient Orc once I get it.
    Penniless Sellsword Company
    Captain Paramount - Jorrhaq Vhent
Korith Eaglecry * Enrerion Aedihle * Laerinel Rhaev * Caius Berilius * Seylina Ithvala * H'Vak the Grimjawl
    Tenarei Rhaev * Dazsh Ro Khar * Yynril Rothvani * Bathes-In-Coin * Anaelle Faerniil * Azjani Ma'Les
Aban Shahid Bakr * Kheshna gra-Gharbuk * Gallisten Bondurant * Etain Maquier * Atsu Kalame * Faulpia Severinus

I like the look of imperial so I just convert what I can to that style. The 5 piece set I use on my main (briarheart) I just have to accept what it looks like and cannot change it. So I usually wear a costume.

I have a bosmer medium and Breton light. I also have Glass and Mercenary light. Funny enough most ppl ask me about my bosmer and Breton styles

It seems to me like with every new fancy motif added to the game, everybody wants to be special and stand out... and in the end, nobody does because everyone (reasonably rich) is running around in Glass, Xivkyn, Mercenary etc armour and everybody poor either has a mish-mash of leveling gear or costumes. I almost never see anyone with a full set of gear in the "basic" racial styles like Breton, Altmer, Nord etc... With some nice colours, they can actually look really nice!

I was going to craft Akaviri style for my lowbie NB, but then I decided it was crazy to spend so much on dragon scales when I will be upgrading the gear once every 10 levels... So I remembered that I always liked the Covenant Scout costume, and decided to try out good ol' Breton medium armour. I was pleasantly surprised at the result :)

Tried out a Bosmer look with a dash of Imperial:

Everything is Bosmer Leather Medium except Shoulder and Boots which are Imperial Medium and Sash which is Imperial Light.

I don't particularly like the more "primitive" aspects of the Bosmer armour style, with the bones and stuff, and I felt the Imperial pieces fit in quite well aethetically and RP-wise (my girl is Imperial afterall)

So... does anyone else stick with the "common" styles and managed to make it look nice? Got some good examples to share?

I use a combination of Kajhit and Daedric for as long as I can remember because I like the look of it. But I only have about 500k gold so maybe that is poor I don't know.

    You are quite right about:

"...everybody wants to be special and stand out... and in the end, nobody does..."

I'm still leveling my character, but I tend to prefer simpler armor designs, so I'll probably keep using the simple racial motifs. So far I like the bosmer and Khajit and nord ones, because they are sleveless on males, and I prefer to show some skin. :)

As I go up, I kind of keep track of what I like on who.

Just got my first ever character up to Vet 16 (thanks for the anniversary cake, ZoS!) and finally used my squirreled away telvars to get him a full set of phoenix. Love the idea of the set, but I don't really like the look. So someday I'll keep him in that (no idea what actual style it is - he's a dunmer magicka DK - fire mage) and then throw on medim Xivkyn legs (really liked them on him) and Heavy dunmer (like the high/protective neck).

Fingers crossed that I'll find a dye job that looks good with such a combo.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
