When I was a kid, I made a little video game for a computer science class project... and I put loading screens in on purpose to make it seem 'more like a real video game'.

They work hard? Ummm, from a great game I would spend upwards of 10 hours a day on and was happy to throw money at, they turned it into something I cant play. My main play style is either PvP or Crafting, both are screwed when it comes to increased load times.

Time to log into Cryodil is up to 10 minutes for me, so I cannot just log on and play if i have an hour spare. I have to join a queue, then when thats cleared, i then need a further 10 minutes to get into Cryodil. God help me if my guild are in IC, add 10 mins again to get in and then additional 10 minutes if they are within the city proper rather than the sewers.

Want to craft? Well thats a port to the first crafting station, actually thats only a port to the first crafting station. I dont charge guild mates for materials, so I really CBA to make the single jump, they want multiple set items? ill sort it tomorrow (ie ask some one who has an hour to kill, not me)


Stop hate? I dont hate anyone, I do like getting my moneys worth and would actually hate to throw away my characters that have been part of my daily life for almost 2 years. Does that count as hate?


Ive had more ESO from this forum than the game. I am sure the devs dont envisage this as their game.




They have not fixed anything, if they have then maybe this is the reason why they refuse to comment here. They know full well that the game is broken, and whatever "fix" you are talking about affects a small number of players.

I have just recently found out that the old Konami code works wonders for getting past long load screen time... UP UP Down Down Left Right Left Right B A.. this is on Xbox One so maybe it works for other platforms as well?

Almost two months from IC since all of load loading screens started.

My subscription were cancelled. I haven't buyed IC nor will Orsinium if loading screens won't be fixed.

Yep almost 2 years and Lag in Cyrodiil is still the same...

Fun stuff, logged in today from work, I had 25 minutes free.

14 of them were spent on the logon screen

This left me with 11 minutes.

I had hoped to get some PvP, but obvisouly the zone into Cryodil would eat up my entire time.

@ZOS_RichLambert I see a number of /Lurks from you on other threads. It’s pretty disappointing that something so utterly game breaking for many players is being treated with such contempt by you guys.

Not talking about WILL make it go away. The people who are experiencing it will just. ... Disappear.


At the very least get someone to talk to us and tell us (even if you have to lie) that you do actually have an idea what the problem is and that it IS going to be fixed.


I am sure that part of a creative directors skill set revolves around customer communication and engagement, you need to kick the crap out of the people withholding/ignoring us here. Teach them how to talk to the customer, make us not feel ignored and we can put up with crap for far longer.

Its a bit low keeping quiet about this, in affect your not telling any people who may be thinking of buying the game on the back of the new DL that there is a massive issue.


If you ARE thinking about buying ESO, please be aware that any zoneing can take far longer than you would expect, to the point where, (no matter how good the game is) you just cant be bothered to wait.

This is comming from an ESO addict, Im not someone who is pissed at the devs and want to sound off. My main character has over 70 days played. I love the game.

But, but, but guys! You forget, ZoS are working so hard, they are always trying to improve the game, they care about us all the time. How can you be so mean to poor ZoS!? We should all pat them on the back, congratulate them about the wonderful job they're doing, because, it's so very hard. They are only people you know.. They didn't expect making a mmo would be so difficult and taxing, to the extent that competent devs need to be hired, knowledgeable database and netcode programmers need to work in the studio. How can you expect them to know all this? On top of that, it would require in depth research and analysis.
You ask too much! Way too much, it's not like they're getting paid to do all this... Oh wait...

I am amazed that people are having such long loading times!
I have a SSD... my load times are max 2 minutes, rarely do I see one that long. It's normally a minute or less.
And I thought that was long. I'm used to loading screens taking 10-20 seconds on other games.
And I was about to complain about my loading screens. I didn't realize that people were having 5-10... dang, I would have been long gone. A game that takes that long to load is no game for me. I don't have the patience for that.

Is it particularly bad in certain areas, or is it just like that all the time?

The loading screens are EVERY cut scene.

It is not the customers end, not our hardware. It is server side.

I move around the country working. I get this issue on multiple machines and network connections.

The issues were implemented with the IC download.

In fact they were apparent when IC hit the PTS.

When IC first appeared on the PTS I had 10 second loading screens on live. The Same hardware gave me 10 minute loading screens.



Why cant Zos be bothered to give us any of their valuble time here on the forums to let us know whats going on?

That alone is totally unacceptable for a SSD based installation to begin with.
My loading times are not really much longer than yours - basically because the game is not... well.. loading anything at all (no harddisk activity); it's just waiting for something to happen server-side.

Indeed, none of these issues are at the client side.

The various computers I use range from pretty poor (old P7 laptops with 8gb and pretty poor GeForce GT 525M)

Right up to the Skylake Monsters used to teach the new games programmers at universitys.

So old SCSI hard drives up to pure SSDs, low end video cards up to quad Titans and other weird stuff people with far more time on their hands than me can put togethor with liquid Nitrogen.

From a 14" laptop screen to a £2 million "3D Cave", (in which ESO looks utterly beautiful btw)


Connection wise I range from 3 mb Broadband at various B&B's to 1 GB home cable connection to direct T1 on Janet (beat that!)

If needed I can use various proxys to get closer to the German data center, many times my ping is stable in the 20ms mark even in the Zerg. (either wtfast or battleping, depending on who gives the best at the point in time and where I am in the country)


Yet, no matter how good my kit is, it takes me up to 10 minutes to zone from Craglorn to Deshan....


If I leave myself logged in to Cryodil, then I face the 20 minutes logon time. I Log into the game in Cryodil, but obviously Cryodil is full, so I am bumped to whatever zone I was in previously, 10 more minutes to perform that zone.
Now I join a queue for Cryodil and can go fishing (no way am I zoneing yet, it just took me 20 minutes to get in and I am facing 10 more minutes when there is space in Cryodil)

I love this game and am getting desperate, but now I am feeling a little bit stupid for having hung on this long, Zos obviuosiuly dont give a monkeys.

This thread has over 1k views, so I know that Zos will have read it, but have chosen to blank the people with this issue.

Make sure you play in the correct megaserver that is for you eu/us and most importantly apart from the megaserver put the correct country that you belong in when it asks you for the first time in character selection, this counts around 80% for the loading screens

I checked that I was logging into the correct Megaserver.

Yup im on the EU servers (though I am in the UK, and we ain't no Europeans!!!)


That aside I logged on to play the new DLC.

Loved it.

Do you know how many different times I zoned in an hours play within the new zone? (ie from dungeons/delves to houses and back out to the street)

So in my hours play I actually had 25 minutes play.....


I timed it on a stopwatch.

So this is an average of 6 mins a loading screen.

So... I just tried some PVP in Cyrodiil after the update. It is faster for me to run on my horse from Aleswell to Chalman Keep than it is to use the transitus network. This seems... wrong.

If I die, it takes me 5+ min to revive at a keep. This seems... wrong.

Thats only the the first use of the transitus.

After you perform that loading screen (within Cryodil) it becomes instant.

but yes, loading screen into Cryodill, then a second is required on the transitus (at this point you wont want to go into the sewers........)

But for arguements sake, say you want to join your friends in the Imperial City (not the sewers, but the city itself) then thats 4 loading screens, so anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes in a loading screen before you even get to hit a mob

No.... this is my first time trying Cyrodiil SINCE THE PATCH. I'v been a PVPer for over a year, so I know the usual 1st time transitus issue. This is different. Right now, every single time I use the transitus or have to revive, it takes 5+ minutes.

To put it into perspective.... I've replied to this post and one other while waiting to revive. I see I'm "up"... this time was quick... only 4 minutes.

Yesterday it took me 35 minutes to craft my new sets. At least 15 minutes of this time was waiting for loading screen to end... Feels like the old times, staring at the loading screen I expect the pop-up of the prompt "enter disc 2"...

I will play Fallout to get away from my TESO addiction. If they haven´t fixed the problem before I get my hands on this game I guess I won´t return anymore... It´s really the worst if at least 1/3 of your playtime is loading screens.

Its been almost exactly 2 months since @ZOS_BrianWheeler gave us that message.

Are we to assume that he oversteped the mark and there is no fix, nor ever will be a fix?

A moderator will have seen this thread multiple times every day, yet despite numerous requests, you still blank us.

I love this game, but I can't carry on with these loading screen timers. If the case is they are now working as intended, at least let me know, one gamer to another, so I can break my addiction to ESO and move on.

I have been here since the betas and have paid the subscription since you went B2P.

At least show some respect to your player base and give some sign that you even hear us.

They hear us. They know it's broken. They've posted several times in other threads noting their awareness of the issue, and that they are "looking into it" and such.

They just obviously have no idea how to fix it. This is the lighting update and Cyrodiil lag all over again.

And like that issue, these long loading screens will very likely never be fixed.
