Champion Points - 300 point cap in Dec?

Pazzuzu
Pazzuzu
Today someone in one of my guilds said that Zeni intends to implement a 300 point cap to champion points in December, and that they haven't decided if extra CP over the propsed CP cap will be "tossed" or retained as unusable until unlocked at a future date.

I've browsed the forums here but I can't find any solid info relating to this - can anyone confirm or deny Zeni's intentions regarding this?

Just to be clear - In this post i'm not concerned with any of the surrounding CP issues, i'm just trying to find if Zeni has decided when the cap will be implemented, what the cap will be, and if they are actually considering scrapping 1000s of hours of player earned cp.

If they put the cap at 300 they would lose soooo many of their older, loyal fanbase. It should be set for PC upwards of 1k+ at least.

Is this a joke? Average players have around 200-300 points 1k is way too op, just no...

They already hinted it would be higher than 300.
300 is too low so it will probably be more like 600.
Anyway time will tell, besides CP problem is overblown you will see when capped or removed.

I doubt very seriously I have 100 CP. I'd be fine with a 300 CP cap. Those that have grinded tons of CP...did you honestly think the imbalance would last forever?

They confirmed in the last ESO live on Twitch that they would not be getting rid of the points above the cap. They will force a reset on champion points and only allow players to spend up to the cap but continue earning CP above the cap.

They have not confirmed what the cap will be but have mentioned numbers ranging from 300-500 on various occasions.

they have also stated that they want to affect as few players as possible with the cap without giving specifics on what % that means though they have thrown out numbers like less than 1% of the player base before.

They have also confirmed there would be a catch up mechanic through accelerated enlightenment for players with significantly lower CP to catch up.

Guildmate did the math (like he did with Apprentice/Warrior vs Mage/Tower), and taking into account one veteran character from the launch of the CP system, the least someone could have by using their enlightenment daily is 100.

So I would say about 600 points would be a decent start.

It's still dumb to cap the people who have invested time and effort into gathering CP, but it's obvious that they're the minority here, and clearly the goal is to appeal to the majority, which is where most of the money is coming from.

A good business decision, but a stupid one nonetheless.

I don't know anything about an announced cap, but wouldn't 360 Champion Points be a better compromise?

That way, players would have the option of maxing out three CP lines instead of 2.xxxx.

    Just my 2 Septims.

They only have themselves to blame. They backed themselves into this corner when they decided to go ahead with the CP System knowing that this was the eventual outcome.

Maybe if they actually bothered with doing the work right the first time. They wouldnt need to turn around and come back in and PO players with changes to correct their laziness.

And it takes 120 CP to get the final passive of a minor constellation.

Well they may lose a few players, but those are players that ZOS already has their money... If they leave the CP to high it will drive away any "new player" that might have bought the game this fall. So it is a simple matter of $... If they leave CP so high that a new player will feel like they have no chance at playing this game without getting giggidy giggidy trolled by CP grinders then ZOS will lose money.. If they set it so low players leave... Well ZOS will not be losing much as those players have already made the investment.

Like I said, they're going to appeal to the casual majority. Which is stupid and sucks, but it's a sound business decision.

What ? They took away quite some power from our builds when they introduced the champion system and said we would get it back with enough CP. For example, resistances and crit and regenerations were reduced. And now they intend to turn that change into a permanent nerf? I'm not amused (and I have about 280 CP now).
I really wonder who decided such things, and if they are able to learn fast enough. Other games in the past had their problems with bad decisions, why does ZOS need to make all these experiences again?

They are making a campaign that removes CP's... why even bother with a cap now? Also if the cap is set to 300 I would be very... not happy.

Dude Haderus is my home. I shouldn't be forced to leave to find a fair fight, or be banned from using any CP at all. Stop trying to force feed your free time to everyone else.

Make a campaign for 1k+ CP. You can call it NeckBeard.

Give every1 a free campiagn home reset. Make a cp on and a cp off campaign for each category ie: 2 for 30 day 2 for 7/15 days etc. This way cps won't matter anymore. If ur someone with less than 200 cp you can join a cp off and if ur someone with 1000+ cp u can join a cp on one. Every1 gets what they want. Now all the cp gods can get a fair fight in their cp on campaign and those who would like to not use cp or don't have cp can enjoy pvp in the cp off one. Every1 wins. Or am I mistaken? This would save zeni so much effort and prevent any further breaking of the game by allowing them to let cp run unchecked and unchanged.

Also I don't understand why accomadating the game to better suit casuals/new players is a stupid decision. Most of the time casuals are the ones who have a job and wife and kids ( which means lots of $$). Making a good buisness decision is not stupid it's actually pretty smart. This might be a game but make no mistake it's still a buisness. U lose casuals who pay $$/ fail to attract new players means no $$ to keep making new content/updates which means eso dies and this is bad for all of us. So nth about this is stupid.....yeah losing hardcore loyal fans is painful but catering to maybe 5% of ur potential customer base would be the stupid move. Having said this I would like to point out I play 3 hours a day but I do understand the need to cater to those who can only play maybe an hour or so a day or even less. They are the ones more likely to spend $$ on things to speed up their progress etc so it's natural that the game would cater more to them...

I think 500 CP would be a reasonable first CAP if they implement it with Orsinium.

That means that you had 3 or so months to earn 250CP from when they system was released to IC release, then 250CP to earn from between IC to Orsiniums release.

Then every 3 months or so they can raise the cap by another 250 CP.

This would equate to the average player earning 1 enlightened CP/Day and 1.5 regular CP/day.

Far too many characters to list any more.
