Hahahahahah go harsh and take it to Twitter. Try to force a company to add something into THEIR game. Maybe they want you guys to learn to make friends, by communicating verbally. Think of it like this, they are trying to help you get past your anti social issues

Characters are tied to the account so they would be starting over. I'll just stay out of the starting zones and avoid such trolls.

Really we all know how far trolls will go to troll other players.I know a person who followed another player to a complete other game just to troll them. It's won't be that easy.

I don't understand why they would resist this.

Text chat is all but required in MMOs. Without it, there's really no point in even attempting pug group content.

FF14 has it on their consoles, and it works out great.

Yes, text chat makes running in PUGs so much more effective, for example:

    Me: Hi. How's it goin'?
    (Nothing)
Me: Um... Hi. How's it goin'?
(A couple minutes pass. Nobody types a word. DPS gets impatient and pulls a whole room while the tank seems to be afk)
    Person 1: HEAL ME!!!
    Person 1: HEAL ME!!!
    Person 1: HEAL ME!!!
    Person 2: y u so bad bro
Person 1: worst grp evr u guys suck
    Person 4: OMGWTFBBQ
(Group wipes. DPS rage quits. The tank is still afk.)

I support text chat ESO, but a PUG will always be a PUG.

Since we are starting a completely new thread on this.....

    1. Option of text chat would be welcome because it is a option.
    A. I sit 8 feet from my 50 inch screen so I am not sure how effective reading it would be without it being pretty big.
    B. Maybe something that could expand the whole screen when typing, but this of course would prevent someone from using it while they where in a raid or PVP. Font size options...??

    2. With all the above said I can operate and live without it. I am of course doing this now.
A.Trading seems to be fine so far

    3. LFG seems to be the hardest thing to do. And even this is not that hard. I have the same issues with finding people that really do not know how to raid and work as a team and text chat will not fix this.

I say bring on any options. However still believe that there would be text chatter and voice chatters and neither one would communicate with each other. If I am sitting 8 feet away and cannot read it I will not use it. Put it on XBOX glass and be done with it. Have alerts. Now I do not ave to worry about where I am sitting.

Before someone says move closer. I have a wife and she controls where stuff is and if you have a wife, you understand where I am coming from. I am just glad I get to play the game as much as I do. Not pressing my luck with moving furniture around.

I just thought of something that may make text chat kind of a pain, for me, at least.

Typing takes time, time that you simply don't have in a real-time situation. Honestly, when I'm questing or in a delve or dungeon, I can't even pause to look at my inventory usually (the action continues around me).

That's not a complaint at all. It makes things far more realistic.

I can't imagine trying to type a message as well as keep myself alive in real-time action! Oye!

I would guess that simply yelling at somebody takes a whole lot less time than finding your keyboard and mouse and typing an all caps message to them.

    Am I right?

Agreed. I am not one to talk to others (not because I can't but because I am a sarcastic, rather nasty person with a mean sense of humor) and, frankly, I don't really want to listen to them either. Most are absolutely inane.

    Makes it tough to group.

Example: I have probably talked on the phone 5 times in the last 10 years. Text and IM are ways of life for me.

Maybe you just need a group of like minded sarcastic people that don't get but hurt over a joke.

Yea Zos needes to wake up and stop treating console players as second rate customers..It take all of 3 seconds to explain there side..they closed that thread cause it was nearing 100 pages not cause of the aruging thats been going on for months in that thread..it was the thread count its self..

Im sorry PC screwed over for a year but ZOS needs to make it up to them with out screwing console players over..This PC gets DLC for 2 weeks before us is BS plain and simple and ill explain why.

DCUO is both PC and PS..they will put a dlc on test server and when its about ready patch it one last time on a tuesday or wed...The Next tuesday it will go live for both PC and PS... yes same day...Why you ask..Cause they give there Subscribers 2 weeks to play the dlc before they sell it to people who dont suporrt the game thru subscription..

Here we have to wait 2 weeks cause sniff sniff pc got screwed a year ago...im sorry but i bought this game just like you..no reason i should be penalised for things that happened to you in the past grow up deal with it or leave the game..

Zos we need text chat..Right now a buddy and i are stuck on "The craglorn quest The Missing Gaurden..yes the one you need 4 people on that quest...no if you finish you cant help..on that stage to click the pillars...guess what for 4 days ive tried 4 guild voice chat rooms..all 4 have 500 people maxd and there was no more then 10 people in any of the channels each day when i checked them.
Now thats not all me and my buddy have done..we have stood one where the quest objective is and one oin Belkarth..shouting in area for 2 people on that stage..no luck

Wait im not done..im also part of a 3k+ FB page and have tried there many times and no luck..

With text chat i could zone hop asking in zone chat and lfg and im sure find two people for that quest but for now were stuck.

I think its time we go to twitter and get a hash tag going like #ESONEEDSCONSOLETEXTCHAT or some thing..tag all gamer magazines heck im sure deltia will retweet it and maybe we can get Boogie2988 on board

Maybe if you talked in chat more you would have more then one friend............Drops mic

I have never got this part where people say you will need your norse touching the tv to read the text..Let me ask you since you seem to be level headed...Do you have a problem reading quest text? or Mail text or the quest indacator in the top right? or the names of who is talking in voice in the bottom right?

Theres no need to move closer to your tv to see text chat...Half the PC dont sit at there desk like old days..watch some twitch streams i could name a few very popual streamers who sit back in recliners playing with there 900 button mouse (mice?)

If it was as large as quest text I would be able to see it without question.

Not sure if you play on a console, but the quest text box takes up a considerable space on the screen without taking the responses section into account.

Not sure what they could get into a text box with that size font and still make it functional. Last big MMO I played on a PC was WOW and that text box was a continues feed. With that font that big I would think you would be doing a lot of scrolling?? If I could control it separately(the scrolling) with XBOX glass it may not be that big of a deal.

I bet 1 stack of rice (that's like 10k on the AH) that text chat will never be added to console. NEVER! Think about it, the time it takes to integrate text chat they could have added a dozen pallet swapped mounts, dresses, and pets.

Well talking about what ZOS will do or not so is not going to help. We cannot read their minds, but we can talk about the idea and implementation because maybe we say something they have not thought about and this gets it implemented.

Another thing to consider if I am picturing the top half of the quest dialogue box would be all the screen that would be eaten up by the text box. I would think it would have to be at least half that size and of course movable to one of the four corners.

Now if it half the size then my large font small box problem comes into play.

...... I use keyboard in Neverwinter all the time when I play it.

Are all anti-text chatters getting this transparent with their lies, or is this a standout? Anyone can go on an Xbox One and prove that wrong just by using the Xbox One's built in internet browser with a keyboard.

Lol Where are you getting your facts from? This is not true at all. Keyboard is supported while also having the option to use Smart Glass app on tablet/phone as a keyboard.

Plus Neverwinter already has Text chat on xbox so it not being implemented on ESO console version has nothing to do with Xbox.

Tired of PC people telling us we don't need text chat. We all need it, all consoles on here are agreeing, don't need PC's bringing us down with their negativity. Text chat, yes please.
.... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. THANK YOU for the additions. Very much appreciated.

I'm a console player. I haven't played much past the original Doom on PC. I would be more than happy for text chat to be implemented on the console version. So I'm not part of the "PC master race".

I played DCUO for years. A game that has BOTH text and voice chat available. And no, there were no issues reading the text box....I could resize it, and it was only displayed when I brought it up or a new message appeared.

And you know what, there was no UI cluttering, and people were free to chose how they communicated. Yes, yes there were occasions where people missed messages because they didn't see the chat box or didn't have a mic. But they were the exceptions rather than the rule.

LFG was easy...shouting for help with a mission or bounty was easy...trade was easy (never mind the centralized broker). I could chat with multiple people at once (in zone, across world, across faction)...without having to filter out the other folk trying to hold their own conversations.

Would anybody type mid-fight? Probably...but more often than not folk would simply wait for a lull in the action. Or (shock, horror) use the mic when in-group.

Was their abuse and spamming? Yes - and it was solved by use of the /ignore function. Or the /report for the extreme cases.

You don't want text chat? Good for you. Nobody is asking for it to be a permanent on-screen box.

As for the "you brought it knowing there was no text chat available" brigade, hey now....just because something wasn't available at launch doesn't mean that it can't (or shouldn't) be added later.

Finally, for the love of god please present your arguments (for and against) text chat in a reasonable and logical manner. Name calling and pettiness simply makes us all look like a bunch of monkeys flinging poo at each other over whether or not we should be getting bananas or oranges for dinner.

Agreed. I honestly don't know why anyone from PC would show up with their negativity and add their 2 cents on why we "shouldn't" get text chat since it has absolutely NO effect to their gaming experience. It was their bickering that started the war on the previous thread. Honestly, how many poll threads need to surface showing text as a 90% "yes" before PC leaves us alone and ZOS gives us the nod.

It's an MMO. Like every other MMO either on PC or even on console, we should have the option for text chat. Period. "We should have the option". I don't care if anyone from PC comes here and gives us a 3 paragraph term paper on why it's not needed or why we shouldn't have it since the decision has NO EFFECT ON THEIR PLAYING EXPERIENCE.

We deserve the right to option for text chat.

In the end, none of us "need" anything, but will make our gaming experience that much greater. On the console side, that gaming experience is vet and endgame levels, and most of us are worried that without text, finding help for trials will be difficult enough to convince people to leave the game entirely. Something this thread and all the commenters pro-text are trying to avoid.

Using something they already have in game, I think having the quick chat emotes customizable would help drastically. As of right now, there are hardly any of them that I use. If we can customize some of them to say what we are more likely to say at least, I believe that would solve some of the problems.

Example: last night, I was in front of city of ash door. I was in a group with one other and noticed that there were 2 more people standing around. Apparently they were grouped together and I tried to communicate to them that we should merge our groups. I got on the mic and asked if they wanted to merge parties. No answer. Asked again. Nothing. Then I tried quick chat for "group up". Nothing. That's when I found 2 stragglers walking around and invited them. As we were walking in, one of them finally response with the "yes" emote. And the entire time I was on mic and everything else, they were jumping and slashing and all. Just couldn't invite them cuz it stated that they were already in a party.

I think if we had customizable quick chat, I would've put something like "looking for a group" at least. That'll let everyone else know that I need a party. Some of the quick chat are utterly useless to use, like the self congratulate one. Just shows off your e-peen, especially with a pug, even if u meant it jokingly.
