I haven't even thought about the game the last several days, just clearing out extraneous tabs now. I'm sure I'll soon be clearing out extraneous harddrive space on my console too. I guess they don't care, they already got my money.

Same boat. About to delete this once promising game over this issue. Can't remember the last time I even turned it on.

I've also not turned the game on I've bought ff14 instead

As for the swearing i've heard less than a dozen swear words since the game was launched on console, have had the pleasure of listening to ppl give build advice, class, race, coins etc .. even if one guy was giving out info he mistakenly thought was correct it was good to see ppl actually communicating

Yeah. Most of my experiences have been like yours. No really don't know where this supposed awful behavior is happening but I rarely ever see someone with a bad mic.

Maybe my timezone is just nicer?

Or maybe the experiences are exaggerated .

Or maybe you think too highly of yourself and actually make the mistake of thinking YOURE the norm. This forum is filled with complaints. Are you going to accuse all of them of exaggerating? Because if so, then youre someone that should be ignored.

Compare the number of unique posters in this thread. Now separate out the people who actually favor text chat on console. Now take that tiny number and compare that to ALL of the people that own and play the console version.
YOU felt ESO needed text chat and took to the forums to campaign for it. Many. Many. Many others did not.

I imagine if an actual representative amount of players actually wanted it, that might make a difference.

Bumping this thread a few more times and filling it with another 'text chat or I quit' will not likely succeed.

Of course this is my opinion.

Pretty sure this guy said he hasnt reached lvl 50. Takes what 40 hrs casual questing? He plays less then hour a day ... Everything in a game is great when you never play it lol.

Don't do this. I'm a strong advocate of text chat and desperately want it, but don't say someone else's opinion is "wrong" no matter how much you disagree, with nothing of actual merit in a post. All that will do is cause ZoS to potentially lock this thread and not let us bring up console text chat on the forums again due to people constantly fighting over it.

Also, despite my wanting text chat, I fear @mrskinskull is right. ZoS seems to be completely ignoring this thread. It's entirely possible even if this threads gets to be 100+ pages we still won't hear anything from them.

English is not my first language, Finnish is.

I just think that having text chat in consoles would make things like finding groupmates for dungeons, trading, etc. a ton easier.

I mean, it's something they gave to PC users, why can't we have it?

I also think that Zone Chat is also something that consoles need for exactly the same reasons.

Oh, and saying "your opinion is wrong because not many people have it" is never okay.
I mean, just because not as many people are actively trying to convince ZOS to give it to us, that doesn't mean that not as many people want it.

I mean, name literally any feature in the game...the mail system for example.

If they didn't have the mail system in the game, how many people do you think would ACTIVELY try to convince ZOS to put it in?
The mail system isn't something I use very often (except for receiving stuff from hirelings and guild stores, and even then ZOS could easily have implemented alternative methods of receiving these things), and there are plenty of other ways to communicate with other players. Does that mean it shouldn't be in the game? *** no! I like the fact that it's there even if it's something I don't use. The fact that it's there as a choice means a lot to people.

Text/Zone chat is exactly the same. Even if it's manageable without, having it in the game would improve it so much!

If this thread is your representative sample of players, then those players wanting a text chat option outnumber the anti-choice players by 10 to 1. At least.
Bumping this thread a few more times and filling it with another 'text chat or I quit' will not likely succeed.

Just a quick question: What do you think would happen if they replaced text chat on the PC version with voice only?

You also have to considered that many many many others who do want text chat that have also not gone to the forms. Simply because someone does not write on the forms does not mean they don't want text chat. Sadly unless ZOS had an official survey we probable will never know where the true numbers stand.

try compareing all the threads oh wait ZOS keeps deleting them..even before console launch PC players had a thread this long or longer on console text guess what it was like a 70% for 30% against and that was before we console players were able to post..all in all the mass maijorty want the OPTION (yes option so you those that dont want it can turn it off) for text chat..

most don't want it so they can use it during a dungeon or raid thats what voice is for..most want it as a way of dealing with 500 ppl guilds and keeping in formed on whats going on or selling items...or getting a hold of friends who are in other groups..and to stop the (^%^ ninja inviting..

I do not know about Xbox1..but most people i know on ps4 have notifcations turned off specialy if you healer since it pops up over health bars..So yeah we can send mail to someones ps account but they wont know it till they go to dashboard..about as usless as in game mail since it takes for ever to show up and has no i\on screen icon showing you have mail

C'mom ZOS it is getting difficult to communicate, lonely and frustrating!

VC is awful no matter how much I try it, alot of players who stick around in these kinda games need a chat box just add a option to disable yay we are all winners.
My suggestion tap up on d pad to interacte with the chat box ( with all the same pc functions ) and from there you can navigate and communicate and add a symbol at the top right corner off the chat box to disable it until you tap up on the dap again, so you wont have to be in and out of you're settings

And an option in the settings to disable VC completely one time so we never have to disable it again thanks

    Dear Zos-

Please reconsider a Chat Box for those that want it. Make it a option at least. I was logged into the game for about 30 min and had to turn off voice chat because it was really bad. From feedback from others mics to the person constantly yelling and saying the game sucks etc. It is great when in a guild or with a group, but part of the game is interacting with random people to sell/trade items and the voice channel will need to be open to do this and it just is a mess. Give us the option to have chat box and let the end user decide if we want to use it or have it closed.

    Please reconsider this decision.

    Thank You!

HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS GAME!? IT'S NOT AN ISSUE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T AFFECT ME AND I SAY IT ISN'T AN ISSUE! HOW DARE YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT THIS NON-ISSUE!! OMG HOW DARE YOU TRY TO FORCE YOUR OPINION ON OTHERS!!! YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS!!! YOU DON'T DESERVE MY RESPECT!!!! GO CRY YOURSELF A RIVER YOU BIG BABY!!!"

How do I know this? I tried to point out the same issue and this is the gist of what happened. I ended up abandoning the thread only to have one of the guys follow me and start saying the same exact things when I brought it up in another thread.

They seem to completely forget the fact that people who are looking for something specific will have to search far and wide to find someone that has it, and simply joining a guild won't fix this issue.

In the event that same guy happens to be reading this: Go away, I don't want to talk to you.

The economy was designed to be as limited as possible, it's expressly set up to waste your time. Guild traders were the first step, spreading the economy all over the world and making it an exclusive thing few people can sell on. By getting rid of zonechat they've driven another wedge into the economy forcing it to be even more difficult to work within.

Combined with the open banning of trading on their very own forums, it's fairly clear they A. want you to have as much trouble getting specific items as possible because the gear system is so massively simplified and B. want you to take your communications to other forums to generate a false-veneer of popularity.

Honestly the only real question currently is whether finishing the Coldharbor before clearing 55.2gb is worth the time.

I'm not entirely sure that comparing the player base to the forum posters is entirely appropriate when determining what proportion of the players want text chat.

If ESO was my first MMO, I most likely wouldn't even think about text chat being an option...because it's not in-game. I'd assume that voice is the only way to communicate.

As it is, I come from DCUO (which was my first MMO)....and I now take text chat for granted. It was useful - I could chat with my league, friends and group...while keeping an eye on LFG and (if I really wanted to swim in the sewer) trade.

I miss text chat :( I leave area chat almost as soon as I log on due to the inevitable player with their music on - which happens almost anytime I'm in a populated area - such as the crafting stations in Mournhold etc.

    Things you might miss.

#1. The chat is turned off at the start of the video.
#2. I am in a proximity voice chat channel. But that is purely optional. If I choose to leave the channel, i will never hear any random voices or mics till I decide to turn it back on.
#3. After literally not playing the game for nearly 2 years, within maybe 5 minutes I had already found a group through text chat and started to run a raid
#4. The smile on my face as I got back into a game that felt like there were actually other people in it playing.

Text chat would save me tons of hassle having to wait at a world boss and hope someone shows up to help kill it. I hate leaving a zone unfinished but I just did yesterday not being able to kill captain bones vet lvl 8 . but even tho it kills me inside I will have to go back later and finish the job once I can solo him.

Someone reasonable on the forums!? I never thought I'd see the day!

Sorry about ranting, but those guys were extremely irritating. The fact that they would express nothing but offence at my opinion but them go on to accuse me of having no respect for them just got on my nerves.

I'm glad that not everyone on these forums is a ***ing lunatic.

There's some real weird ones around. Seems like the idea of someone wanting options or liking things they don't like might do them physical harm.

It's not like anyone here is asking for something new be created for the game, it HAS text chat on PC. It worked fine, you could find groups and trade and stuff within minutes. It keeps the game alive.

I finished Coldharbor finally and starte Cadwell's Silver. Loaded into Glenumbra (which is actually my favorite starter area) and I just can't seem to sum up the desire to move on. I've done only one dungeon so far, with a friend who has since quit for lack of voice chat, along with the rest of my friends, my guild is largely dead despite over 400 members, hell, I actually started setting appear offline because I was tired of random invites.

All problems solved by text chat. "Hey, anyone want to do X dungeon?" "Sure, invite me" problem solved.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Made this while laying on the couch earlier today. In case ZoS wants to use it for a reference :)

I miss DCUO just for this, lol. I can talk to people in my guild, while texting people in your group or vice versa, while still paying attention to raid shouts in the open world if need be. My question is..... 10+ threads condensed and 60 pages later and STILL no response?!? You guys were supposed to be more professional than the "little kid" MMO up the street, and here we are showing you how the "little kid" MMO does it correctly. lol, wow.
.... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. THANK YOU for the additions. Very much appreciated.

Haven't played for a month. Seems there are no news about the TEXT chat...

And I still hear random immersion-breaking and unpleasant sounds ingame.

Time to give up all hope I guess.

I am having a really hard time understanding some people over voice chat, and text is so much clearer. I really do wish we had text chat in the consoles. It feels lonely. I can't call people over for dungeons, world bosses or dolmens, or warn people about an incoming army at Bleaker's Outpost in Cyrodiil. I feel restricted and it's frustrating.
I want to be able to advertise that I am able to craft gear for people, for example, and to take offers for that sweet motif I just found.
Let us have text chat, please!

Well, I think this thread is finally dying out for loss of hope.

ZoS, you want to email us if you get around to adding text chat, I'm done checking back.

Geez, people give up the good fight after a month?

Heh, I wonder if we had given up so easily on fixing many of the other important issues in the game that took SO MUCH LONGER to be rectified, how many of these new players would be enjoying their time in game right now.

I've been quiet on the issue for a bit now, but I honestly figured that the thread needed some new voices and a bit of discussion from newer players. Also, I don't have much to add that I haven't already said in the previous 60 pages. : P

Look at text chat on Neverwinter, most of it is just spam and from 8ft away on a 50 inch tv i can't read a bloody thing, I have no desire to sit closer to the tv to watch spam.

Would be best if they added in new voice channels, LFG, Trade and make it more than area chat is, Faction at least.

Of course this is my opinion.

    and it is wrong.

Of course this is my opinion.

    But you're still wrong.

ZOS is notorious at this point for ignoring things this game desperately needs because they have this game plan that they wont break from regardless of how detrimental to the game and its community.

It doesnt make the guy right.

It's still crazy to me that even tho every review out there has mentioned the lack of text chat, we got a 60 page thread here about text chat, every other freakin MMO has text chat. And these guys still won't even acknowledge the topic. I honestly think ZoS might be one of the worst developers I have ever come across.

As much as I enjoyed the game when it first came out, I really don't think I can play it anymore. It's just become so boring. I know with a lot of MMOs the real fun stuff doesn't start till the end game but man, spending hours and hours going through tedious mission after tedious mission ALONE. It's just not fun plain and simple. And with a broken group finder and no text chat I can't even break the monotony of the solo missions with group dungeons or joint quests. It's frustrating because there is a fun game some where in there, but ZoS is either to ignorant or inept or whatever to release it. :(

@ZOS.... What's your plan, guys? Everyone is screaming for it, and you guys won't even reply unless someone types a *** curse. Let's go. Voice chat isn't what you said it would be, and is an absolute JOKE for endgame. You have the code for it, just respond and put it in the game. You guys are rippling off the console community. Your beta test is a lie. Text chat is needed, give it to us.

If they ever release a text chat function, please let players disable and enable as they want. I like the UI as it is

Also, I hope voice chat keeps being default, cause it is vey nice :D
