ESO Needs an Auction Horse (Expanded Concept)

You know, @Davadin. You make a compelling point about having one Auction Horse per Faction. The only thing I would say to refute that is the Auction Horse is designed to be a special event, not something that players access all the time regularly. Having the horse in a different Zone every Tamriel day would actually have the horse in each alliance every earth day, just not for long.

The horse could rotate between the three alliances every time it changes locations, ensuring that each faction gets the horse once per earth day. Actually, along the thought that the Auction Horse could be over-used, I would even suggest the Auction Horse should have a cool-down period so that players can only access the Auction Horse once per 24 hours.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

OK. I totally get where you're coming from then.

But I'm afraid, with the horse, you won't satisfy the players who are craving for the centralized market... and we might go back to square one.

Not saying I don't want to see it, but just not sure what's the expectation here.

    Aldmeri: Auction Horse
    Ebonheart: Jobber Guar
    Daggerfall: Bartering Mule

But seriously, the biggest problem with this concept is the fact that people would FLOCK to the Auction Horse and would likely bring down the server. lol.

I think you are on to something there!

I could see your item in the store and a buyer could put (like a note) that says "Id pay you X amount for this item instead of what you have it listed for."

Next time you accessed your store you would have a notification and you could either Accept, Reject, or Counter Offer!!!!!

You could have a feature that allows the seller to auto accept offers over a certain amount.

I like this idea, but there either needs to be 3 horses or 3 instances of the same horse existing at the same time in all 3 factions. There are too many people who would only be able to access the horse once every 3 days.

Maybe not have it 'travelling' as in moving along a route. But instead have it moving from Regional City to Regional City week to week. (In Game Week)

    Week One: Ebonheart
    Week Two: Mournhold
    Week Three: Stormhold
    Week Four: Windhelm
    Week Five: Riften

And have it loop back to Ebonheart at the end of the week in Riften. Doing this same thing for the other Factions. It would establish a roving auction house that wouldnt overly interfere with the kiosks but at the same time provide players a means of selling their wares without joining a Trade Guild or worrying about the expensive bidding war that comes with the kiosks. If people are worried that players would flock to it. Limit the amount of wares that an individual could sell on it. A fraction of what they could sell from a Kiosk. This would allow them to open up the possibility of selling an item to more potential customers. But limit their ability to dump everything they have into it. (An Auction Horse can only carry so much on its back afterall, so space would be at a premium).

The Auction Horse would simply set up a 'Tent' with its owner in a specific area of whatever city its in much like a Carnival. Just alittle more flashy then the other shops that are lined up around it to 'announce' its presence in the city.

Don't we all? The more time goes on the more I like this whole concept. I wonder what issues there would be with this idea. It supports guild stores, the traders, the lore, the players.... What would be the negative of an Auction Horse.

Maybe @ZOS_JasonLeavey could help answer this.

lol I would train the hell out of this horse and log in just to run around looking for it. for the lulz. I like the idea though, it's pretty neat. and anything that would end the elitism of having to be in the right guilds to get the right prices or the availability of anything you need in reasonable numbers/prices is welcome. The main reason I don't really play this game is because it is not only a pita to do anything besides vender or delete things, which is a waste, is the fact that i can never find anything I need without being overcharged due to the lack of competition an open AH would provide. even with the subs gone i still haven't played it, though more due tot he fact that it lacks a controller Ui still. I bought pinnacle, but mainly for a nehrim plugin/ui, though eso does have one in an addon but it still felt awkward and I got stuck in a weird mode sometimes (preventing movement) and it was a pita trying to reset it. if this gets an official controller UI and layout, I would consider coming back. i notice i was kicked out of a trading guild for not logging in for just 6 or 7 days after tamriel unlimited, which pretty much discouraged future logins. it's not like it's 13 years ago and I'm playing eq 6 to 10 hours a day doing nothing else except for pooping out the caffeine, going afk to watch smallville or falling asleep crashing my face into the kb as my toon wanders aimlessly into a camp of friendly gnolls. this trade system is the most backwards, elitism-supporting piece of garbage and one of the most idiotic ideas in an mmorpg that I have seen in the past 15 years. I would welcome this auction horse, give you a bj for it, and then give the horse a bj. it would be something interesting to do just running round looking for it even.

I like this Auction Horse idea. Well laid out plan; good detail ... really a solid idea that would allow for an immersive way to create a global auction platform and yet still encourage exploration and in game activity other than hanging at the bank by (somewhat) randomizing the accessibility. The only challenges I see if implemented would be phasing and ensuring a large inventory cap (which could be worked through).

Another part I like about this was the comment about couriers. I immediately had a flashback to Skyrim having a courier run up to me to advise that an NPC left me coin. That mechanic would be awesome to see in ESO for many reasons! One scenario could be when the player attains level 10 and normally gets the in-game mail for Cyrodiil; this could be delivered by NPC courier.

Well, this would be one place where "everything from all guilds that have paid extra" would be sold. it wouldn't always be available and its location would change all the time. Guild traders would still be viable.
