Sadly, as you acknowledge, your build is screwed. Hybrids are going to fall way behind in 1.6. This is not a good development.

One partial solution: Make Conjured Ward scale off the higher of magicka or stamina. That would at least help stam-heavy builds that use magicka only for utility/ buffs.

But builds like yours that use both magicka- and stamina-based damaging skills? Those builds may not be salvageable in a game with no soft caps on stats.

Yep and I don't know what to change my build to. The jury's still out on what's best for PvP and I don't expect shields to remain as they are. I didn't use magicka skills for damage in PvP and I also put 0 points in magicka and stamina, relying on enchants instead. Can't do that anymore in 1.6.

I also rerolled from breton to imperial for the stamina and health bonus because I used bows and health is always welcome. I'm screwed all around. I'm now a relic of the past with no way to make myself relevant to the present.

@Holycannoli‌ , you've indirectly answered your own question. All points into health is not what it once was.

For PTS purposes, respec and split it three ways, 1/3 in each. Then try your build again. You may find the loss in health is not as consequential as the gain you get from Stamina/Magicka based damage. Adjust from there.

Or try a template character and tinker with the numbers. The results may surprise you.

It's still two different, independent resource pools, each with their own passives, each with their own regens.

All is not yet lost. ;)

So I have just did some dueling on the PTS and I must say sorcs are in a pretty good place imo. Either magicka with destro/resto or stamina build with Two-Handed/Bow seem to work pretty well. Burst damage is quite high with crushing shock and crystal frags procs. Meteor also wrecks people, especially with magicka and spell damage builds. Ball of Lightning is also a great help to absorb the projectiles after streaking, some people dont fight sorcs with ball of lightning because they can become almost impossible to hit. The thing that surprised me the most is how well stamina builds work for all classes , burst damage of two-handed might be a bit to much. It just burns down health so quickly when it hits for 6-8k each hit.

Have you dueled all the other 3 classes? Which one with which build is the hardest to counter do you think then ?

I'm really curious about this 2h/bow build you like. I haven't been on pts since the crit surge internal cool down was reduced to 0.25 seconds, but before that I felt i did not have enough heals. I had to force myself to not light attack and not apply dots so that I could save my crit surge heals for crit charge. Also, I was struggling to maintain stamina against any worthy opponent. The fight would just go on for too long. Sorc really needs a non-channeled way to sustain stamina IMO.

Of all the changes (or lack of decent stamina morphs) I'm most unhappy about Surge and its ICD.

I have dueled all classes and its really build and player skill dependent how strong they are. I think DKs are the hardest to counter, you just need different skills to hit them with RS up. Crystal frags does a ton of damage so you dont want to get it back, also you cant dodge it when you get it back so you have to block. But once you time your attacks just right you can knock DKs down and burn their health down. Streak is a good way to stun them (even through block) so you can knock them down with crystal frags.

Some NBs were though as well because they can do insane damage with two-handed and you need to keep at a distance so you dont get feared. The upside to NBs is their lack of shields so when you keep distance and knock them down they usually die pretty fast.

Templars are also in a very good place imo. Because sorcs rely on burst damage and templars can selfheal through it so they can be hard to kill. But if you manage to knock them down without a full shield up their health can be bursted down. The most annoying thing is their stunlock jabs but I can be countered with Streak.

I have won from all classes but also lost to all classes, I think sorcs have a advantage in duels but a lot depends on player skill, which is the way it should be! Most classes did focus on max damage, except for some S&B DKs. So almost everyone is using destro/resto or two-handed/bow.

    @Erock25‌
The Stamina build sorcs I dueled where using Two-Handed with Ball of Lighting. They charged in with a guaranteed crit then streak away leaving a ball of lightning which absorbed my spell projectiles. They didnt really need a lot self healing because they were hard to hit. Momentum also heals so I think they didnt use crit surge tbh. Because two-handed hits for 6-8k each hit its really hard to stay alive. Also Harness Magicka doesnt block physical damage so you only have 1 shield that blocks their damage. The problem is stamina sustain because they lose a lot when they have to break free and if they cant break free they die within a couple seconds. I dont know what set bonuses they used but I suspect a ton of weapon damage with some max stamina and stamina regen.

Funny how everyone is using Sabre as an example of how 2H sorc is a workable build. It was.

But 1.6 is the death of stamina sorcs and hybrid builds. Magicka costs (for utility spells) for stamina sorcs are going to be horrendous with the expert mage passive change.

Oh and Sabre? Ask him. He is re-rolling DK. Just like everybody else.

I will shelf my sorc as well that I have been playing since beta if we don't get some basic fixes and that expert mage passive reverted.

Reduce storm calling skills 10%, then remove CD on crit surge and replace with CAP on AOE heals.

Then we can have a discussion on how to bring the sorcerers class utility back to where the other classes are. Starting 1.6 with higher costs of everything for no good reason is just flat out depressing.

Again with the complaining by Sorcs that they are permanently stuck with the "Summoner" build to achieve high damage output.

It simply is not true, close minded Sorcs only testing pet builds with sub-optimal gear sets and builds and/or template characters on the NA side.

As I have proven with my recent thread, high DPS is achievable without the use of any Summoning ability.

I would just like to state again that sorcs abilities in 1.6.3 cost a lot less than sorc abilities in 1.6.2, even the storm calling abilities ended up cheaper now than when expert mage was -10% cost reduction of storm calling abilities. It should allow for much better sustain.

I come from the pvp side and have played a hybrid sorc, mostly stamina and some magicka for support. Most of the time I use storm calling abilities.

And using only 20 CP for 6% magicka cost reduction, with the same gear as on live, my sorc has almost the same performance with storm calling abilities. The difference is that my build is no longer a hybrid, but a pure stamina sorc now, with no attribute points spent in magicka. That is the build is much stronger in the weapon department now.

Actually, I understand that the developers are hesitating to change the class skills at the moment. Because CP is actually a game changer that has to be taken into account.

As the NB's have done, I think it would be good to discuss the Sorc changes all in one location for the Devs to have easy access. I have some initial thoughts but will save them for later after some testing. Please voice any comments or concerns you have about the below patch notes.

    Sorcerer
[*] Liquid Lightning (morph): Increased the bonus initial damage to 94%, and will increase by an additional 2% with each rank.

What does this even mean? Is this a nerf or a buff? Very awkward wording, also even if it does mean initial damage is doubled its still not worth it.

    Pets
    • Pets now take 90% less damage from AoE’s, up from 50% less damage.
    • The Crit rating for pets is now equal to your Spell Crit rating.
    • Summoning a pet no longer reduces your available magicka.

This still wont make pets desirable.

Overall looks like we are getting some pretty good buffs and minimal nerfs, we will still be very OP.

Liquid Lightning in 1.6.4 no longer has bonus initial damage, instead the duration has been increased to 10 seconds; Lightning Splash and Lightning Flood both last for 6 seconds and Lightning Flood still has increased radius.
