Hirelings in update 6....The Temper Tantrum

There was nothing unfair or exploitable in the previous system. You needed to invest a lot of gold and time up front to get those alts leveled for max hirelings. You invested that gold/time (my god think of the expense from enchanting leveling up!!!) with the expectation that you would slowly get paid back your investment over time and long-term hopefully make a profit. That was very reasonable. What isn't reasonable is pulling the reward after everyone already invested the gold/time....

It may not be reasonable but aren't you seeing a pattern here? Tell people to keep playing..XP is tracked. Oh wait...Tell people you will never go F2P/B2P and keep people subbed..Oh well...guess not. Let people spend time/money leveling up hirelings...then make them useless. Pretty clear trend has developed.

Well, it might also be an attempt to preserve the in game economy by keeping the hard to get mats still hard to get. We still got 48 days to get our yellow tempers and what not to build up ingame wealth.

The regular motifs are still fairly rare and because of the drop rates they've decreased substantially. But I'm with you guys, I want to be able to buy stacks of dreugh wax for 100 gold too when the market gets flooded with new players doing the same thing we are.

    This, This, This.

If you want more people doing Writs, raise the rewards for Writs.
It's not like hirelings are showering people with gold items as it stands now.

People (myself included) put a ton of time & effort into leveling characters specifically for hireling mail. That's a lot of time, effort & gold flushed down the toilet for what appears to be no good reason.
Hopping on board for this. I also spent a good deal of time and gold leveling various crafts on five characters for the hireling return. I don't get gold items every day but I thought the reward was worth the effort. I don't have a lot of time to play and it fit well with my schedule. Clearly I should've spent my limited play time grinding one of them to VR 14 instead.

Funny how you were one of the people telling those with multiple max level characters that the original 30 CP change was just fine and fair and just tough luck if you leveled up 5 VR14 characters. Now that something changes that affects you personally..guess you don't feel the same? Funny how that works but this is why nobody should have been in favor of anyone getting screwed out of their progression because it's only a matter of time before they do it again on something else.

While I know some people will obviously disagree I don't have a problem with this change. I understand why those who have masses of hirelings are upset by it but ultimately it was reducing the value of the gold upgrades items so much as to be near negligible which makes the in game economy somewhat stale and I'm pretty sure the supply is vastly outstripping the demand so it will only get worse. Giving everyone an easy route to passive income of gold items was always a bad idea they really should of dealt with it 6 months ago.

I have full 3/3 Hirelings and I also have no problem with this change. I've had ~9 months of good times getting tons of Legendary mats in my mail. I knew this was coming so I've planned ahead and stowed away a good chunk of my Legendary mats to make sure I won't run out if there's a run on the economy. I also have full Legendary gear for all my builds on my VR14 main.

What basis are you using for that rationale?

My shopkeeper is showing the following average prices for Kuta and Rekuta.

    Kuta - 252 sales - 29 Days - Avg 3314.91g

    Rekuta - 322 sales - 29 days - Avg 731.30g

The value of Gold runes is already massively scaled as it should be. What kind of higher prices are you expecting anyone to pay for a Kuta or any other Gold booster/temper?

If it takes 12 KUTA to make an entire character Monumental, what kind of expense do you think new or even hardcore players have a "playing" chance to amass enough gold for? 39,778.92g just at today's averages.

That's before we even consider Gold Armor and Weapon boosters. 56 Tempers each for either Cloth or Metal and 16 for Wood items, even with max temper passives.

    Wax - 466/31d - 2238.69g X 56 = 125,366.64g
    Lining - 743/31d - 397.36g

    Alloy - 412/31d - 2636.60g X 56 = 147,649.60g
    Solvent - 624/31d - 720.93g

    Rosin - 301/31d - 2587.46g X 16 = 41,399.36g
    Mastic - 379/31d - 488.21g

You're basing this on the idea that everyone must have "gold" everything. When you consider that for say Spell Damage the difference between a gold Kuta and a purple Rekuta is +1 damage I personally think it's not that massive a deal.

While it's only my opinion I wouldn't mind if gold level weapons and armour in the game would be something to work towards rather than highly common as they are now. The only rare things in the ESO economy are a couple of Trial item sets, nirnhorned items and some of the jewelery sets that people can't be bothered to farm for themselves. Purple items are plentiful for anyone considering you can get a black smith to level 50 in almost no time by just salvaging the white/green weapons that drop post VR1 and everyone has so many skill points to waste.

Okay, okay.. enuff of this... ZOS has just taken hundreds of hours of time from hundreds of folks and made it useless... just so they can build a kindergarten and make some dough... This used to be a game but apparently players don't want a game, they want kindergarten... like nerfing doshia, prime example... beating up Balreth used to be satisfying; but gotta have them bucks, y'know... We'll see what happens, and how absolutely bored they can make me... Peace... :)

Thank god I didn't spend countless hours leveling up alts for the sole purpose of having a bunch of hirelings receiving purples/golds...oh wait I did do that.... :'(

Don't worry. There will be an Item Finder card in the Crown store for only 500 crowns, or $5. It will raise the chance of getting gold booster in mail to pre-patch values.

Have you played since 5-day early access and spent the time/gold to get all 8 Characters to 3/3 Hirelings for all Professions like I did, and MANY others did? As I said I saw this coming so I'm not upset by it. Does that mean I'm saying "neener-neener too bad for you"? I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Yeah, I don't get the reasoning behind this one. I realize they want to give people incentive to do the writs, but why not just boost the return on those? Hirelings didn't give too many in the first place, at all.

I suspect this is going to be one that is changed after a bevy of negative feedback.

The crafting writs are boring and a huge waste of end game materials

Yes but they are the Zenimax's way of "adding' content without doing much. If you look back at the last 10 months, the additional content has been upper and lower Craglorn ( a botched effort) plus Grinding Undaunted , Trials and Crafting writs...For that you got the pleasure of paying something like $15 a month. Now all that and extra is for free if you just buy the game at it's current knocked down price....

    Omg why? :-(

    Did you ignore this part?

"Significantly increased the chance to receive gold boosters from refining."

    Why yes, yes I did.

To be fair though - I had only quoted that quote and not read the rest of the Elder Scrolls Posted up there at that time.

Also how will this help with Kuta/Rekuta?? Who needs Denata? They are only good for leveling. Jejota's only use is in pot spamming glyph, and Tas - pointless.

Still though: I spent a lot of time getting 3x chars to the point of having hirelings. I am a little not happy that now I have to spend more hours farming crap for other mats nor that enchanting stuff doesn't even have a farmable mat you can refine.

Remember when they nerfed the mats from refining? Well that sucked, so I leveled chars for hirelings as a work-around.

So for me we are going backward.

Also, I never ever get a rosin from refining and I have 3 (!!) in the bank from hirelings from like forever. So not like the hirelings were all that impressive for me anyway.

I was one of the people suggesting people give 30 CP a chance and see how it would work when it hit PTS so they could give constructive feedback instead of throwing tantrums threatening to rage quit in dozens of posts a day, yes.

But now I have seen that the temper tantrum rage posts really work and the people who scream the loudest get what they want.

Use your heads people. Nerf to hireling gold mats...

Hmmm... can anyone else think of a reason to the nerf to drop rates?

    Maybe the CASH SHOP?

I'd bet all my gold that you're going to be able to buy gold mats for crowns.

I'd also be willing to bet that eventually you'll be able to buy the undaunted sets for crowns.

Also, I'd be willing to bet that you'll be able to buy VR12 Warlock rings for crowns.

That is why the drop rates got nerfed.

The reason hirelings were nerfed is that they don't want people who have nothing to do with crafting to get legendary tempers for free.

And no, if you happen to have maxed out a craft but never go scouting for resources then you don't count as a crafter, you are still a hireling leecher.

I only just got my hirelings a few weeks ago, so I'd be rather bummed by this if I were still playing. In that time I'd only gotten four or five gold mats, so it didn't seem excessive at all to me, and my husband said he gets even less than that. That being said, I only have one alt and she's a baby, so I wasn't getting mails on multiple characters.

I guess the fact that a free respec will be offered when this goes live will allow those who no longer feel hirelings are worth it to take those nine points and bank them/spend them elsewhere.
