12 Month one time reward

I am an early access pre-order that was not subbed non-stop. I was out of the game for 3 months, costing ZOS $45 in revenue on my subscription. This earns me the coveted "non-supporter since the beginning" badge for not being a loyal customer.

In 2014, I purchased more than one copy of Imperial Edition, and extra game cards, so that I could hand them out as gifts. I have completed this mission.

Did I do this with the expectation of some sort of reward from ZOS? No. It was an investment in a game that appeared to be climbing in potential.

If I could go back in time, would I do it again? Yes, under the same circumstances.

Here I am with an investment in the game that surpasses most of the people who were subscribed the entire time. I am not, and never was, expecting any parade, balloons, or mount for what I did. Not this year. Not last year. My only expectation was that the game continued to grow and improve.

After Firor's comments, it bothered me for a while. I would have continuously subscribed if I thought it would have mattered. I knew I was here for the long haul. I was OK with being 3 months behind everyone else and, frankly, I expected that they would stop counting at 1 year. Now I will miss out on the 1 year whatever, as will almost everyone else.

Letting this bother me was ultimately silly. I already used my own subscription. I already handed out the extra stuff I bought. Everything about this was in the past. It is not what I have done with ESO over the last year that is important now. It was important at the time, but that time is gone. What is important is what I do now, and where that takes me in the future.

Don't get hung up over the past. Never forget the past, but focus on where you are going, not what is in the rear view mirror.

Fact is the reward is for people who didnt bail on the game at some point. They cant just give them to anyone it would defeat the purpose of rewarding people who not only bought boxes but paid subscriptions as well.

I think a lot of the people that are concerned (I may be wrong) are people like me - people who never "bailed" on the game, but still may miss out on this one-time loyalty reward due to circumstances completely out of their control. (I participated obsessively in beta, and pre-purchased a digital and a physical copy of the Imperial Edition as soon as pre-orders were made available. I dropped my six month sub for about a week or two thanks to a failed renewal while I was out to sea with the US Navy; the card was declined for a reason that is still unknown and I didn't even find out until I got home - at which point I immediately renewed my sub for the longest option available, now three months: a subscription that I intend to continue renewing for the foreseeable future)

There are some players who intentionally left the game for a few days, weeks, or months - and I absolutely agree that they should not receive any reward. Determining who had legitimate reasons for lapsing, and who just lost the faith, would be a fools errand. I think it may be safe to say, however, that if someone was gone for more than a month; that was intentional. If it was less than a month? May have been intentional, but most likely not. And even if so, they clearly didn't take long to realize that they did in fact love the game and wish to continue their support of it.

Perhaps we will see some leeway, despite the speculative comment made by Mr. Firor during the Reddit AUA. If so, I think NO MORE than 29 days of leeway would be not only logical, but absolutely fair. If not, I can agree with the sentiment some may have that it feels wrong. Thoughts?

First of all, thanks for serving the country. I was a Navy wife for 16 years.

As I understand it, the coming mount is a loyalty reward for continuous subscription, not a 12 months award. I have read somewhere that the maximum lapse they will consider is less than 12 hours.

I think thr perspective of "as long as you had an active subscription at some point during each of the months ESO has been live. Even if was for one hour." Would be a fair way to handle extenuating circumstances.

It's also not like that would be without precedent. IIRC Fallen Earth passed out a mount reward to everyone with an active subscription in the month before F2P.

Obviously, this is ZoS's choice, but...

You are correct, the reward is presumed to be for continuous subscription based on the wording of the retraction of the "12 Month reward" statement in the following quotes. (Though I'm not sure that it's been confirmed to be a mount.)

"We also have 3, 6, and 9 month subscriber loyalty rewards (we've already given out the 3 and 6 month rewards), and we'll have a special loyalty reward for all of you who have subscribed from original launch through the Tamriel Unlimited transition."

"I mistakenly called this the "12 month" reward on our twitch show the day before yesterday, what it is intended to do is to make sure that people who subscribed the entire time the game was sub-based get a really cool exclusive reward."

These quotes are both Matt Firor from the recent Reddit AUA on Tamriel Unlimited. (Link). The latter quote is the one referenced by the OP in this post. There was also a statement about 'not anticipating any leeway' that I can't seem to find now, so maybe it was removed or I'm missing it. That statement is the cause of some of these concerns.

That sounds fantastic. Probably the most reasonable way to go about it, I think, but time will tell what ZOS has planned exactly.

@Jahoel‌ if you watch ESO Live, when Matt talks about the reward he mentions riding on it. So that's a pretty good confirmation we're getting a mount. Well, you are, I lapsed so many times no leeway is going to help me.

Wow so my sub I believe lapsed for about 5/10 days because of moving homes and I am not worthy of receiving this because I'm less of a dedicated ESO gamer.

Interesting! ZoS really don't think this stuff through at all, they really know how to on the one hand compliant a group of people and then later laugh at them.

A way to solve this would be to say if you have sub for a total of 12 months (whatever the timing is since release) or more you get it but the mount is only available for the first 30 days after the release of TU. That way people who did not lapse more than a month would be entitled to this.

So where would you draw the line for the special reward? It's gotta be somewhere!

A month leeway is very fair as a lot of people suffer mitigating circumstances that might have prevented them from making payment, for example a CC theft or a house move.

A month away from the game is a billing cycle of money that they did not pay and should be the cut off point.

I would be OK with that also, anything so that loyal subscribers aren't punished for something we could not control.

So, you're saying I'm not loyal enough because I have to wait a month (whole April) for Imperial Edition box (it was long shipping)? I started to play in May. I feel that I'm get penalized for my loyalty.

This really rubs me the wrong way. I feel like it should be thank you for anyone who paid for at least a month post free month. It is sad because the whiterun wolfhound was bad enough, yet that ended up still being released through the symbiote nord.

Exactly. The fact that they want to do something and then totally miss the point on the entire reasoning for doing it really makes itself known here. Thanks for valuing me less as a player because I missed a month's payment due to taking care of bills. Great. A+ job

I played the beta and bought the game when it came out played for 2 months and found it really buggy so gave up for the summer and resubbed in sept so I won't be getting it, but probably something lame anyways. I do think they should give something to people who were subbed tho before this whole b2p, regardless if you missed a week, month or a couple months doesn't make you any less important I wouldn't think and by the looks of it a lot of people won't be getting it so not a good way to reward ppl who supported them.

I would be pretty bummed if there was no leeway. I was in beta and i've subbed since the game launched, accept for about 1 week when my bank changed my debit cards because someone stole my number and tried to charge a bunch of things. I forgot to update the new info here and it cause literally like a 1 week lapse.

If you did not maintain this continuity then why should a reward be provided when there are subscribers who did not lapse? We took actions to ensure a break did not occur.

Member Since February 6, 2014. Participated in beta weekends, pre-ordered game. Haven't actually played this month just paying sub to support game! Downloaded PTS to help testing 1.6 update. But letting subscription lapse for 3 days I'm no longer loyal customer!

You want to be a special cookie, we get it. That should not come at the costs of giving the finger to most of your subscribers that have been here from the beginning and helped test the game.

So many people (devs) now a days want to shoot themselves in the foot over something they think is a reward. ie: *** dlc practices

And we're not getting it so.... Was just simply stating my opinion. Personally I see no difference we have all supported the game, they should have just gave something to everyone who has but that's not the case and I'm not gonna cry and pout over not getting an item on a video game lol
