I was half serious actually. I've been thinking about upgrading to an imperial addition. But is it worth £20? I'm not interested in the other stuff. Now they mention the Dog, that would certainly tip the balance, but as far as I know that's not an option for me anyway.

My 2 sorcs never fly their pets anywhere but in a combat situation, they do not go to the bank. I would like a wolfhound, I had one once. It's a decent pet and several of my chars would enjoy it.jj69chevub17_ESO wrote: »An honest question to all who are all worked up about this.
Why do you want a *** so bad? I only ask because as I stated before, I wouldn't mind one, but I guess I'm indifferent if I don't have it. I feel that way, because it does nothing for me... I can't send it to down to deposit mats in the bank, or deliver pots bak to me, etc. So there is no fuction to it.
As I said not bashing, just trying to better understand.
P.S. And I understand some are just dog lovers IRL, I am too. I love my RL dog, but I personal don't get the conection to a digital pet.
It would actually be hard to do it worse. The first decent pet for the game can only be acquired by a Steam sale that's on for the weekend. Those of us in the game who care now get to watch a stack of newbies with awesome pets parade around our towns. This will not go well, especially in dungeons. Ever seen me pull an entire dungeon? It's pretty funny ... well to me.
haha. I know people who are planning on training mobs onto people who have the dog. Good luck new people. Nothing like having a v12 train you with groups while they are harvesting stuff just because you got a pet that Zeni did not offer to people who have stuck with the game since launch. Yes, this would be considered harassment and probably get them banned. Most of them simply would move on to something else and would not really care. They enjoy the game and see potential, but get a little tire of Zeni doing things like this, or leaving things broken for too long, or annoying impulse zergballs, etc.
To all of you complaining,
I highly recommend taking some basic business and macro/micro economic classes. It's the environment we live in and everyone should have a basic understanding. I'm not saying this to toot my horn or anything but it's like moving to a Spanish speaking country and not knowing Spanish! Business and Corp practices and methods are all around us yet it seems like no one gets it.
This is incentive for new buyers and its value is that it is "exclusive" (Worded as - "limited-time bonus available only to those who buy the Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online through Steam") which translates to "we're going to upset all the early adopters just for you and this is what will make you special from them because you missed the cool boat they came in on". Makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective.
Marketing is all about increasing sales, not necessarily profitability although that is the desired result, and not necessarily good customer service.
Business exist from profitability. That is the blood that pumps in their veins. upsetting some customers over a pet is small time compared to potential income they want (or need). Them caring about including us, bah, we're already locked in, seriously, who's going to quit over a pet? And they gain by being able to offer exclusivity(!) to a next gen buyer. Yay!
Businesses need $ to survive. Not social or moral pleasantries, those are usually a secondary goal (if at all). And if dismissing "loyal" customers yields minimal to no repercussions and brings in additional revenue you better believe profit will come first. Remember that.
I understand this from a business perspective, but there are other special bonuses they could've given out. Temporary EXP buffs (perhaps, say, up until level 20?), free game time, a few treasure maps (just some of the regular ones that you find in loot once in a while), that sort of thing. Things that are already available to current players, so that it doesn't feel like a huge slap to the face.*snip*To all of you complaining,

The entire forum is howling about this.
Zenimax's claims of listening to players more is turning out to be all bark and no bite.
We're all just chasing our tails with this game.
Dog pun.
My two cents: We got a mudcrab, and a monkey (some may even have the Scuttler). Is a dog a cooler pet? maybe. But we have two(three) pets they won't have, while they have one we don't. I'm sure dogs will be put into the game, and even if it's not the exact breed, who cares? We'll still have dogs. Honestly, I'm sure people will gravitate away from that dog once a "cooler" dog comes around (say a wolf, or a shepherd) and it will be no big deal. We don't need it just because we received the imperial edition.

Nope, not for me. The dog imaged on the first page as the Vanity pet looks strikingly similar to my dog that recently passed away, Sugar. My two cents: We got a mudcrab, and a monkey (some may even have the Scuttler).
