I agree everyone, this is complete BS..I bought my Xbox 360 when it came out, and then they released a newer one with a bloody hdmi port and later on.. they gave free copies of Mortal Kombat with it!

Oh wait... we're talking about ESO..I was having flashbacks to virtually every other thing i've bought early in life....

You could have gone out and bought Mortal Kombat, though. I literally cannot buy the wolfhound on an existing account. I just want the option to buy it for a dollar or two in the cash store.

To not even have the option for existing customers to purchase this "cosmetic" pet (emphasis on cosmetic as it provides no advantage) is my biggest complaint. I don't really expect to get anything for free. Especially when anything ZOS is concerned.

It's like today Prada discount 50% and you just bought Prada yesterday and you come to the shop and asking for 50% discount for your purchased?

First off, people in this thread aren't upset about the price cut, that's expected in games. Second, it's more like if you bought it full price one day then the next they offer if half price with an interestingly designed gold ring that you can't buy anywhere on its own as a bonus. Third, in that case you could return the thing you bought and buy the new discounted version.

How do you know this to be true? Who's to say that they wont add other dogs that you can get?

There will be a retriever, but there is only one Irish (excuse me, Whiterun) Wolfhound.

You do understand this discussion is not about the discounted price, right? It's about offering an exclusive to future customers that is not available to existing customers.

To use your analogy, say you bought your full price Prada bag yesterday, and today you come in the shop, and they have a new, better Prada bag that you like much more than the one you just bought...and it's even cheaper. You walk up to the counter with it and you're told, sorry ma'am, you already OWN a Prada bag, so you can't have that one. That Prada bag is only for new Prada customers. Please put it back. B)

:/ If it was available through upgrading, I'd upgrade from regular edition.

Would rather have a wolfhound than a retriever any day.

Otherwise, I have the Palomino already, and I'm not that interested in Imperials with crabs.

Okay @ZOS_AmeliaR to give you a slightly better responce than my last one which was mainly an outburst of rage.

Look back to beta when you first made a thread stating that a small group of beta players would get monkey pets because they took part in the first stress tests.
For the months following that post every new wave of players coming to the game saw a thread saying that even if they put in effort and work they wouldn't get an item because they were not privileged enough to have early bet access.

Later you made the choice to give all beta players who had logged in and helped during any beta period the pet for helping. With everyone who had put in a request to join the beta being given access to the servers for the last couple of weekends this meant everyone who had signed up to beta and actively took part got a reward. This was a good choice and went a long way to making people happy.

My issues with both this pet and the Guar one is simply that as an active subscriber for you game I want to have access to all content (including vanity items) at all time. If you wish make these items cash shop items I will even accept that because I have the same fair chance as a subscriber to obtain it as the next person.
The Elder Scrolls games are all about allowing the player to go where they want, be who they want, and do what they want. We feel that putting pay gates between the player and content at any point in game ruins that feeling of freedom, and just having one small monthly fee for 100% access to the game fits the IP and the game much better than a system where you have to pay for features and access as you play. The Elder Scrolls Online was designed and developed to be a premium experience: hundreds of hours of gameplay, tons of depth and features, professional customer support – and a commitment to have ongoing content at regular intervals after launch. This type of experience is best paired with a one-time fee per month, as opposed to many smaller payments that would probably add up to more than $US14.99/month any way.

Now granted this is just a mini-pet but both this and the Guar go against everything which you said before release. I plead that you pay attention to the negative feedback both here and in the official discussion for the Guar pet and realise that players want in game items to not be used in advertising and money grabs.

It's my firm belief that any and all in game items should be accessible by anyone actively playing the game. If this has to be via a cash shop item then so be it, release the explorers pack, beta monkey, Guar and this wolf all as items we can all buy at any time via the shop if we so choose.

If you want to think about it from a business view, think how many more sales you would get selling the wolf and guar on the store for £2 each on top of players buying the Guar toy and Imp Ed. from Steam.

So as someone who has already spent £100 on this game via Imp Ed and subscriptions I can quite honestly say in the last two days you have flipped me off twice and has me questioning if ZOS is a company I want to continue doing business with.

To add even more to this (because I'm really pissed!).

Everyone who bought the Imperial Edition at release, stayed loyal and paid through all the messes and bugs you have had such as broken quests, bots, duplication exploits, PVP lag. We're now seeing that anyone who waited for all of these to be cleared up before buying the game and supporting you is getting special rewards because they paid for the game via an option which wasn't available at release.

Had I been able to buy the game from Steam and get an extra pet three months ago I would have, because I wanted the pet. Now I only have the choice of paying another £70 for a game I already own to get an item which there is no other way to obtain.

I think I have made my point enough times on why myself and other people in this thread are a little bit annoyed with your as a company right now. We love you want new players to come and join us, but please don't take a poop on us to achieve that.

    /endrant at last.

Even letting everyone get the pet wouldn't fully rectify the problem. Zenimax loses credibility as intelligent game developers every time they let gaffes like this exist. This is such an obvious problem that anyone could have seen coming; we're really going to trust these people to bring this game in line with other AAA titles?

I'd say it's more like you could buy a second purse, sure, but you can't put anything from the first purse into the new one. You use the other purse to hold your keys and wallet? Well too bad. You're also going to have to pay $15 a month per purse.

How many people do you honestly think would pay a second sub fee and reroll all their toons for that? Most people aren't going to buy a second exact same purse either (especially not a genuine Prada).

They would make more money offering the dog as a stand-alone purchase available to everyone, and free for the newcomers in their special deal.

That doesn't mean that we should be complacent with backseat treatment compared to potential customers. It's completely reasonable to suggest that they should at least offer us the option to buy it alongside the new people getting it for free.

@Csub I personally have to disagree. I think that all current Imperial Edition members should also have this pet for free, because paid the same (actually more due to the 40% sale right now) ammount of money. The pet should also be available to anyone who upgrades to the Imperial Edition.

They also need to make both the Explorers Pack, the Beta Monkey and the Guar plushy pet available as store purchases to upgrade accounts.

By doing this they're stating that all members of the community have the same level of access to all content and items within the game. While players would still have to pay more for these items, for example a non pre-order player would have to pay for the Explorers Pack rather than getting it for free they would at least have access to that content.

I personally have no problems with ESO using their store to add more vanity items, however making exclusive items just angers people who have been loyal to the game.

As myself and others stated earlier in the thread we have been here since day one of early access and stuck around through all the bugs and problems of the game staying loyal, now because of that our reward is to be told we can't have a pet because we didn't wait three months to buy the game.

Then that makes it even more fair for those who took the time to sign up. I still personally feel this pet should eventually be moved to the cash shop for a small £2 cost meaning everyone can access it. The advantage of being a beta player was simply that you got the pet for free by taking part (or signing up in your case).

They would also make a lot of money from that small £2 purchase, think about how many non-beta players who would buy it at a small cost.

Sometimes I wonder how the customer service, marketing and business teams actually work. So many MMO companies seem to miss chances like this and make dumb moves alienating and angering their current player bases.
