It wouldn't kill anyone to do so, and the steam people wouldn't be hurt by it either. They aren't buying the game just for the dog.

It's not that big of a deal...
Yeah, until they release a DLC that you have to pay for.
Honestly, now everything they said is suspect. They've proven that what they said meant nothing and that they are willing to do anything at any time.
That's the problem with online games, they think the game belongs to them. They can wait until they hit some personal cash goal, then change it to whatever they want, or sell it off to whomever they want, then all of our investments, are worthless, whereas their investments pay back value.
It would be like that certain gym that promised to offer me half-price membership at the end of a 3 year contract, suddenly sells their business at that 3 year mark.
So, one more company that doesn't keep its promises.

Guy got both pets because they let him link the steam to his beta account. Why not link 2 accounts then!?

First, we were promised before the game was even released that we would have access to all content in the game. This was their entire reason for justifying the subscription model, and if they keep doing things like this, it negates their entire argument.

so thats it? an official rep came in and threw down some official claim and walk away ... and.. thats it?

This. I love my monkey but I'll gladly trade in my Nibenay crab (sorry Mr. Snippers! LOL) and my Scuttler (my thanks for teaching me the proper terminology for my not at all beloved "pets") for that FREAKING WHITE WOLFHOUND! AND NO, A BROWN ONE LATER WILL NOT APPEASE ME. Give me a black wolf and I MIGHT be mollified.

I keep seeing people throw this around. Where's the evidence of this claim? it's funny that people keep claiming this and no it doesn't negate anything but do keep pretending that it does, it's kind of funny in a tragic sort of way.
Even if that was true, you do have access to all content in game, so your argument falls apart before it ever gets out of the gate.
Also, you are not being denied anything. You want the dog? go buy the imperial edition on steam. No one is preventing you from getting it.

It's very simple - you pay once per month after the first 30 days and the entire game is available to you.
You know how "entire game" was mentioned. We didn't really mean "entire game" ... just the bits of the "entire game" we're going to allow you access to.
...Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days
Did the people who did this eventually get their wolfhound? There were initial complaints that it didn't work by those who tried this.randolphbenoit wrote: »Forcing current subscribers to buy a game again under STEAM to get a pet go against these statement. So... you see that "entire game"; Yeah... many, including myself, took that to be "all content" since I never saw a:You know how "entire game" was mentioned. We didn't really mean "entire game" ... just the bits of the "entire game" we're going to allow you access to.
That is what has me ticked about it. I don't care about the Steam support, that they gave the dog to them, or even having the dog (though I'd much prefer it to what I do have).
I just want the option to get the same content as other players, since you know... the subscription is supposed to give us access to the "entire game". If it's a timed release for something, then only for that time period works. Just give the current subscribers the option.

I would love for some official response on what exactly was meant by "entire game". *shrug*

Edit: Small edit x3
Edit: Meh... More awake. Change wording a bit, and small additions. x4 -- *sigh* I really can't type even when awake more.
