Well laddie, back earlier in this mighty saga, you said about not caring about the dog etc, and saying people who were ranting about it as being dumb, shrugs, I just thought it funny to give you the dog, but regardless of all this, things are getting a bit heated and that, so lets just remember and respect we all have opinions on the game and relax, kill each other on pvp or something with a beer:P

I would still take the dog. It's the complaining that's dumb. It doesn't mean I wouldn't want a free pet.

As a level 30 Steam member this kind of pisses me off. As you can see, most of the time my Steam profile will show that I'm in ESO. I had to tell it to add ESO as external software to let my friends know what I'm playing.

So, in exchange for FREE PUBLICITY (all my many friends see the game name pop on their screen every time I log in, its on my profile when I'm playing and on their friends list along with my name) I get NOTHING unless I pay you again? That's really sad. And I don't care for ANY of the pets I have as a Beta player and the "expensive" game owner. I have two dogs in RL, I would love to have one in-game. I don't get the pet, nor any of the Steam perks that come with ordering it through Steam.

The whole STEAM affair was unfair to all it seems. The whole thing has ruined pre-orders for me also. The Steam dog should have also been sub member DLC. A Golden retriever version would been better for Steam not a version many would wanted from the very beginning of launch.

The art book is what did it for me. IMO, that was worth the cost (I know... priorities right?). The Molag Bal figure is just sitting up on the top of a bookshelf next to the Aludin figure from the Skyrim CE.

The problem here is that the dog wasn't included as a part of the Imperial edition itself, it was added to the steam package for buying the Imperial edition. It's not a part of the Imperial edition, it's a promotional item offered to new players for purchasing through Steam. Players who purchase the IE through Steam now do not get the dog anymore because the promotion is over and those of us who bought the IE prior to, or those who bought it after, are not entitled to the dog because it is not a part of the IE. It's like a buy one get one half off promotion. People who bought before the promotion are not entitled to the half off because their item did not include the half off item, the half off item was given to buyers as a reward for buying during the promotion. Alas, we are not entitled to the dog just because we spent more of the IE edition, because the dog is not part of the IE, but that doesn't excuse Zenimax for the way they handled this whole affair.

In this case, that item just so happens to be one of the major items that players were asking for since beta, which Zenimax was kind enough to flaunt in our faces while telling us veteran players that we will never get the chance to get it because they don't care about the players who supported them through all the bad media and continued to play the game even when it was unplayable, all they care about is reeling in more "suckers".

I call this game even, however, because I cost them two possible subscriptions today. Two of the guys I work with asked me about the game, stating that they were thinking about playing. I stated in an earlier post that I wasn't going to stand by Zenimax anymore when I saw people bashing them, so when my coworkers asked about all the bugs and such, I didn't. Zenimax wants to give the finger to all the players who have stood by them and supported them so, I just cost them $60 per coworker plus the monthly subscriptions.

    Opinion follows:

I've said it before, I'll say it again. No. Just no. That's not how it should be handled.

If you don't think the game itself is good enough, then fine. But I really would like to see this game succeed. It's slowly getting better. There's lots of room for improvement in the game itself, but in my opinion it's generally moving in the right direction.

The silence on this issue, and the refusal to either stand by, or disregard, earlier statements on the reasoning for the subscription, are tipping the scales in the other direction though. But this appears to be a management issue, and those can be the worst kind.

Some folks may see that as business as usual, and not even blink an eye over it. I mean, don't company's normally [snip] over folks? As long as they can play the game, they don't really care about "small" things like that.

For others like myself, it points to a larger issue behind the scenes. One that we're trying to voice out against. That we don't want to see them head in the direction it seems they're going. They're just going to start fragmenting some of the player base with the "exclusives" if they keep it up.

ZOS has completely screwed up with this. They haven't done anything to even attempt to mollify the core issue: What content are we paying for with our subscription? Is it the "entire game"? If so, what definition of "entire" are you using that you can give exclusives out and not include current subscribers the ability to get the same content?

    @ZOS_MattFiror‌ ; @ZOS_GinaBruno‌ ; @ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌
Any information you can give us on the previous paragraph would be useful. Thanks.

If ZOS continues their silence on it, smaller things are just going to continue to pile up on the scales, until not keeping the subscription going is the sane thing to do. I'm still, perhaps naively, hoping they'll actual respond with some statement.

I didn't bash the game, I didn't down talk it, I simply didn't defend Zenimax against all the bad rep they've earned since ESO's launch by giving the usual "it's a new mmo, you can't expect it to be perfect", or "it's slowly getting better" defense. I'm not going to defend a company who blatantly punishes me for being a loyal and supportive customer. I want this game to succeed, but it's obvious at this point that the only thing Zenimax cares about is the money, so I'm going to let the money do the talking. Maybe they'll acknowledge the mistake they made when they gave the finger to all the players who've supported and defended them, when they are no longer doing so and it's costing them money.

Just in general. But all posts seem to have a similar feeling they're getting. I.E. ZOS (management aspect) ignoring current subscribers. So it's starting to color even innocuous posts with that light when brought up.

Suffice it to say that ESO's customer service failures to date have cost them several subscriptions of my gaming friends already. This additional bovine excrement is not in any way helping when I test the waters to see if they'd like to come back. In fact, it's pushing more of my currently-playing friends towards "hmmm, what other games are out there?"

Heck, I'll admit I barely log in anymore, just enough to keep up the research queues while I give ESO a couple more months to get their act together. And if they don't, I'll be spending my money elsewhere, too. It doesn't matter how great the concept of this game is, and how gorgeous it is ... if there is a constant, steady drumbeat of "shut up and give us money, sucker" playing as the background music.

There was a great game out there that had a fabulous IP, then they were bought out and some idiots took over, and that game has taken a huge nosedive. It's likely going to be shut down within the year, even though they still won't admit that to keep the money coming in. They were all about money too, and hosed over their longterm subscriber base in favor of fly by night f2p types.

Seems some companies can't figure out where that focus ends up driving a companys releases. I wonder though, if maybe someone somewhere decided up a new gaming model? Create game, sell, sub only, focus on grabbing as much coin as possible but never intended to last more than 6 months to a year to turn a small profit.

Even if the profit is only 10%, that's enough for some dirty people to make a buck.

I'd like to add my name to the list of people who bought the PHYSICAL Imperial Edition for a huge sum, and now feel completely shafted by this outrageous steam sale.

Why? Why exactly are late comers getting something we don't? At least offer them this new and amazing thing and give it to all Imperial Edition owners for free! Who would complain? Not the Steam buyers, they already got their dog. Not Steam, they couldn't care less as long as they get profit. Not us, the veteran players who've been here since BETA!!

Is this the thanks we get for helping create this game? A swift kick in the teeth while you reach around our bags to steal our wallets? Shame Zenimax, shame.

omg I will say it again, you got the killer statue. That is what the physical edition gave you, that and an artbook iirc. There was no other reason to buy it, since you could buy the digital edition for cheaper.

If a cyber dog, or the principle of a promotional sale happening four months after a game's release, whatever you want to refer to your unhappiness as, makes you unsub, good riddance.

There is only one god and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: “Not today...”

"We read fantasy to find the colors again, I think. To taste strong spices and hear the songs the sirens sang. There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us, to the child who dreamt that one day he would hunt the forests of the night, and feast beneath the hollow hills, and find a love to last forever somewhere south of Oz and north of Shangri-La."

Yup. There was the statue, a map, and the all important (IMO anyway) art book. To me the Art book was well worth the cost... but hey, to each their own.
If a cyber dog, or the principle of a promotional sale happening four months after a game's release, whatever you want to refer to your unhappiness as, makes you unsub, good riddance.

I'll state my position again. I don't care about the mutt (though IMO it is better than the pets we did get). I don't give a [snip] about the promotional sale; I figured they would have had a sale earlier.

My issue is: What are we paying the subscription for? Is it just to connect to their server and whatever content they decide to give us? Is it not for access to the "entire game" as was stated at one point? And, just for reference:
    en·tire
    /enˈtīr/

    adjective
    1. with no part left out; whole

So, if it IS to the "entire game," what definition of entire is being used? Should subscribers have access, or at least the ability to access, everything that comes out during their subscription period? If no, then that isn't the "entire" thing is it?

Really, someone at ZOS could clear this up quickly with a simple statement on what we should expect for our subscription. But the silence has been speaking for them.
