Also, I'm now at a middle of Zerith-var quest line, and it is probably the best small story for a long time. Literally got my jaw dropped right from the beginning. There is a really enormous gap in writing level between his story and all of the other companions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the scriptwriters, if they read it, that is. Great work!

The reason why the singular-"they" still feels out-of-place to some people is because gender identity is a relatively new point of discussion at such a wide, global scale. To a lot of people, the concept of referring to a single person who you know the gender of (including non-binary and gender-fluid) as "they" is brand new.

And that's okay! It's one thing to know it's fine and have nothing against such use cases in language, and another to actually get used to it. It's unnatural for me, too, but I still try, and I correct myself whenever I slip up.

What modern games are trying to do is to integrate this new inclusiveness in their worlds, even in those fantasy settings, because ultimately, gamers still live in the modern age and still want characters they can relate to. The challenge, then, is to integrate all that naturally into the world-building and narrative so those additions feel like they have always belonged, and that's where a lot of games and stories fall short; I can hardly blame them, though, because historically, they haven't always belonged.

Just ignore and scroll past? Like most people do, it's not a big deal. Plenty of posts being made I consider pointless, but I at most roll my eyes at them and check another one.

Sure, it never hurts. I think what was offputting to me is that the request came with a swipe at another thread and a suggestion that it's run it's course and is off-topic, which shuts down the people in that thread and also people like myself who continue to read the thoughts on that thread even if I'm not posting. I even used that thread to help me decide when to buy Solstice. (I waited for a sale).

A general theme for your suggestions seems to be policing the behavior of others and reconciling your personal preferences with this being an MMO and there being other people around. While I understand the desire, the request could have been made without the expense of others.

If you mean the thread opened by me, about ESO's writing and specifically the statements made in a news article about the Solstice year (including how clear good/evil schemes were "fun") : We're currently discussing
- a Solstice random encounter with a necromancer, wondering whether the short story we get presented there makes sense, considering lore about necromancy.
- the nature of souls in TES lore, which is also related to the question how lore-plausible some necromancy depictions in Solstice were or not (and lore-accuracy is of course a question of writing).
- the conflict between the Mages Guild and the Order of the Black Worm and the points of debate between Vanus Galerion and Mannimarco, which is also a discussion related to the main themes and very central factions in the Solstice story.
- how and why Abnur Tharn was an interesting character, as an example for a well-liked character who clearly does not follow clear good/evil categories, basically as a way to disprove the news article's statement about clichéd characters being generally well-liked by the public.

So we're in the middle of discussing ESO. These topics are all related to writing (especially with a viewpoint on lore), that black/white scheme statement, and most of all Solstice. Yes, there's also some jokes inbetween, and a bit of personal chattter, but that's unavoidable, I think, as we are no robots, but friends, so we talk like friends. Still, it's not meant to be a personal conversation - everyone, without exception, is welcome to the discussion. And every now and then, people do join in. We also know that there are several people who read everything, even if they only comment occasionally.

It's legit that someone might not find that interesting - and I hope people who want to hide that thread find some option to do that.

There are few things more enraging than jumping in to help someone and then they stop fighting because they wanted a private fight in a public arena. When this happens I usually just go stand behind the guy who was dueling and hope they get the hint. I usually try to remember their names too, so I remember to never to help them with anything, ever, because they don't want help.

Millennials are reaching the mid-forties. Using it as a reference to "youth culture" is tired.

I do just pass by topics that don't interest me and eventually they conclude and move on to the back pages. But that doesn't always happen. I'd like to keep my list up to date with relevant topics.

This is not a swipe at anyone. It's an observation that some threads are no longer constructive and I'd like to hide them from my list so I can see more new threads.

It clearly is. You stated above that there is ONE thread you don't like seeing updated, and thus have decided to request they spend time updating their website so you can avoid this ONE thread. You even tried to suggest it's off topic now to try to get it closed.

This isn't your personal forum, it's a public forum for all clients of ESO. Part of public forms is that people will have topics that don't interest you.
