Just for a second when reading this, at the very beginning, my heart soared thinking it was fixed. That just makes the crushing disappointment all that worse. 😭

I absolutely love the permaglow on my assassin character very much, because she has the whole red and black and evil red aura going on.. It fits her nicely!

I like it less on my main, which is my Hlaalu, because her theme is just being a Hlaalu House elf. Her colour schemes are Hlaalu gold and Hlaalu yellow. (Ashland Grey for her armor, because it still looks bony, but polished!) The red glow clashes with her outfit too much.

A few added skill styles for that particular skill would probably fix this, no?

I think we may get a purple Skill Style for Grim Focus first, to match the color palette of the other Nightblade Skill Styles. After that, who knows — gold/yellow could be an interesting choice!

Please give us Werewolf Skill Styles (for customizing our fur color), Grimoires/Scribing skills (to fill in the holes in our builds), and Companions (to transform with).

How about a transparent one since the glow does not indicate anything and no one can see it except the player.

If the developer intent is to make Gloambound weapons invisible when stowed, then why is the Grim Focus glow still active?

Nightblade the bright red killer, had a very shiny butt, and if you ever saw it, you would even say it perma glows and ruins most outfits in this game.

The glow situation should be fixed — not with Skill Styling, though. Once they make a "transparent" Skill Style, they can't change/remove it if they ever properly fix the problem. Do people really want to pay money or go through extra in-game legwork to hide VFX that should be hidden by default?

People should not pay money for this fix. If the transparent one was released in the Crown store I would not buy it. I would definitely use it though if such skill style was added as a reward in the game.

Awesome! Yet another weapon set I would have gladly purchased if not for the permaglow. And yes, I agree, fixing it for sheathed weapons would only be a start.

Don’t forget the golden pursuit gives a statue of a Nord nightblade.

At least, I assume it’s a nightblade since it’s got a red glowing weapon.

I specifically addressed the Grim Focus problem in their thread on community feedback here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/670868

I encourage everyone who cares about this problem to also raise this topic yourselves, so they can see how many people care about this. Thank you.

The problem is that according to Zenimax, there's nothing to fix.... the devs apparently just like the red permaglow and want to keep it in the game despite the majority of feedback being against it. No one wants to pay for something like this, some players are just so desperate to be rid of the eyesore that they are willing to pay money if that will make it so Zenimax will actually listen. It's sad. Really sad.

From a PvP design perspective it doesn’t make sense that it glows all the time, it would make a better telegraph if it only glowed once their Merciless was ready to fire.

From a PvE design perspective, it doesn’t make sense that it glows all the time, it would make it a better telegraph that your Merciless was ready to fire for rotation QoL if it only lit up when ready.

Other people can't see it in the first place - barring a few odd bugs that seem to pop up here and there.

So it's not a telegraph at all in PvP.

Ah, then this must be reported as a Bug. I unfortunately have no footage of this.

At the very least the Permaglow would indicate to another player that you have It slotted.

It's really just an annoyance for us, it seems. I just confirmed with a friend that they cannot see the red glow at all, when weapons are drawn or stowed. This makes it even more aggravating because the visual effect serves no real purpose other than to annoy us and ruin any cosmetic or aesthetic design we like. x_x

Hmm. Odd. While your sentiment in that post is in line with this thread (I want the glow gone), critically approaching this scenario one would make note that: The weapon model has disappeared, but the glow remains. Sentiments on the glow aside, that appears to be a bug.

However, the bug I’m referring to is that reportedly other players do not see the perma-glow, even though it’s a visual effect that appears like it should be visible to other players as well.

In this case: the glow is gone for other players viewing you, but not the individual viewing themselves.

They addressed it, actually - they changed the description of the Gloambound style to say 'Some combat effects may persist' after feedback in this thread a longer while back.

I'll leave the conclusion to others.

The only nice thing about bugged permaglow focus is that because only the player themself can see it, at least that means our outfits aren't ruined to anyone else lol

    But really, please fix this

No. Not unless one makes it invisible on stowed weapons, or when not in active use. Like it was for the first 10+ years.

It would only make sense to first fix the problem, make it invisible by default, and then allow for skill styles to create a permanent red glow. The other way around would be ludicrous, especially if they charge for it.

I do not disagree with any of the people who reply to me, here or in other threads, saying they just need to fix the bug outright.

I just want them to fix the damned problem, any way they choose to do it.
