Do we really need this? To show our @name under our name like a damn dogtag?

Its basicly hurts our privacy. We just get more hating and insulting with it. (mostly in pvp). I know this was asked since the beggining but on console noone like it. Right now, there is too much information whenever I look at someone.

Just employ a secure password, like you should with all your accounts.

I think the gamertag thingy is a good move. More important for guildies and friends, but also usefull for members of the same alliance. Maybe it could be hidden cross-alliance.

It's half of our login information, freely available for anyone to see.

A better option would be to have a login username that was never displayed anywhere, and a player name that could be displayed or not by user choice, without potentially compromising their account security if they did decide to display it.

I started on PC and now play mostly Xbox and PC PTS.....

the @name doesn't bother me on console because its who we are.
    Now on PC...thats another story

Overall the game-pad and PC default UI's need to be the same on all three platforms.
Not having a mouse on console isn't the excuse IMO. Now the menus should differ in how thhey work obviously but they should look the same. Exactly the same.

From a user friendly stand point and a development stand point the @names on console or showing actual character names make sense. But if I can be honest, playing on PC first, having the player name show and the system using account names for friends and stuff was confusing at times.

I don't have a solution other than the suggestion to mesh the UI's and maybe that allows for some others to come up with solutions to the name topics.

Doesn't make any difference to consoles as our character names have never been visible (we don't have text chat), I personally assumed the whole point of the character name plate was so that we could (at least in part) hide our user IDs and just have our charcter names visible, seems like a pointless addition to me if it's as you guys are saying on PC.

It's zos though so not really surprised by any of it.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

@Tommy1979AtWar ah sorry to hear that :/ I hope it gets optional for you on consoles.

On pc we can only see account names on ignore list, friends list and guildchat + guildlist, everywhere els it is our char names.

Our mounts and pet names can't be seen by anyone but ourselves though.

-Character names are seen in other places like Guild roster, just not over a head or in a group interface, but I don't think that this update changes the group interface.....worth asking @ZOS_GinaBruno if choosing a name plate to show for others, has an impact on the group UI name for game pad UI and consoles?

I've not seen it change but on PC its player names so there is no way to discern for consoles what will occur.

You realize when using a controller all we see is your account name, right? On target, in group overview - but text chat then suddenly uses the character name. Hopefully this is supposed to address this issue. If it is, it's rather poorly formulated.

Optimal would be for everyone to decide what they want to see but first fix the functionality.

I think those on PC don't use the game pad mode. On PC since release it always showed the @name instead so this change is just bringing it to the default UI....not that it's right but it is what it is.

I was replying specifically to the op's comment noone on console wants it.
I also know that its the fact the @name is now on show for pc players is the issue but I'm not seeing why its such an issue , for us consoles players its only our @name have been on show since the beginning and its never affected us as negatively as some claim here.
