It's not the fact of messaging. It's half of our account login info. It should not be displayed.

Just employ a secure password, like you should with all your accounts.
Plus the 2-factor authentication will prevent most account hi-jackings.
I think the gamertag thingy is a good move. More important for guildies and friends, but also usefull for members of the same alliance. Maybe it could be hidden cross-alliance.
Im just thinking about the number of guild events that I run and spend the first 20mins learning whos character name is which account on the guild. LOL thank ZOS for this!

On pc it's not really needed anywhere, unless people wants to keep track of other players - which is kinda creepy to think about.

So, I can do T-bag on players and be a traitor by giving my scroll to the enemey faction in cyrodiil.

Doesn't make any difference to consoles as our character names have never been visible (we don't have text chat), I personally assumed the whole point of the character name plate was so that we could (at least in part) hide our user IDs and just have our charcter names visible, seems like a pointless addition to me if it's as you guys are saying on PC.
It's zos though so not really surprised by any of it.

Do we really need this? To show our @name under our name like a damn dogtag?
Its basicly hurts our privacy. We just get more hating and insulting with it. (mostly in pvp). I know this was asked since the beggining but on console noone like it. Right now, there is too much information whenever I look at someone.

Nobody on console wants it?? Its us console players have been asking for it the most. Right now its PSN (account name) appears for everything on every character. I look forward to it from a roleplay perspective that i can now play a female character that doesn't have mickey ox over its head

Nameplates haven't really changed that, but...
WHO THE HELL THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO SHOW EVERYONE'S LOGIN TO THE WORLD?!?

They are saying no one wants the @name but they do want player character names instead.
