In case you were not aware, a region's map does not readily indicate all points of interest. Some icons show up only when you have revealed it (e.g., by proximity, or by reading about it in a book). Toothmaul Gully and Bewan respectively are two such examples in Auridon (Aldmeri Dominion), at least for me.

So it might be the case that you have missed content if all you've done is pursue narrative-bestowed quests, or not explored certain areas as thoroughly as others.

And of course, content flattened by player swarms give no XP.

I voted no. The difficulty is perfect. Please casuals, dont ask them to ruin it.

I don't think the OP is talking about the difficulty but rather not being able to find enough to keep up with the levels and zones.

The way I can tell how well I'm keeping up is by looking at the achievements to see if I've gotten every skyshard and my progress to completing all the quests in a zone to get the achievement.

Also by doing every dungeon in every alliance you not only get massive exp, items, but also get skill points. So by doing that rotation you should end up keeping in line if not a little higher than the region you're in.

I really want to post Screens shots of my map but I couldn't be bothered. I only skipped anchors because I assumed they were optional and from recent experience today they ARE a waste of time if you want to level at a reasonable rate. I've seen all sorts of theories on how to out level your zone when it's completed by like 4 levels but I have attempted to do them and receive maybe 1/8th of the XP that people say they are getting from things... For example someone said to open master chests as they give "like 20% XP" (his words) so I went hunting for some.. Found 3 they each gave me 2% XP and they were all found in areas with level 28 mobs. Same goes for anchors I tried them after what I said above and I'm getting maybe 1% XP per anchor on the first completion of said anchor plus maybe 2% from the spawned mobs. Not nearly enough to raise me 4 levels and put me on par with the mobs I am fighting. So I thought to myself maybe I am sneaking past too many mobs ( I Sneak past about 20% of mobs) so i tried not sneaking for a few areas just to see what the XP was. Grinding level 25 mobs I managed to grind out 3% in about 45 minutes so I can see how that would help a little but realistically mobs give *** all XP (roughly 4 -8% an hour depending on your speed) probably in a zone I would get maybe get 1 level from pure mobs. The only conclusions I have been able to draw is that the XP is bugged for some people or something is flying over my head completely. I'm sorry if you don't believe what I'm saying but it's true.

Oh and to top it all off I'm using a ring of mara.... I'd hate to see this without it.

I believe you, I have the same issue.
It must be some kind of bug regarding xp bestowal for certain people.

I feel like it has to be a bug. I have reported it and contacted a GM about it citing specific examples and they even said it was strange and my ticket was escalated. I think that a major factor in this not being fixed already is peoples ignorance. Every time I bring it up I get flamed and told "You haven't finished the zone, go explore". My guess is that diminishing returns is coming into affect too fast on quests, meaning that if the quest is high level then you, you wont receive as much XP. I've gotten 200XP from public dungeon quests which is about .75% of a level at my level (24). But that's just a theory, I could be way off.

All I know is that if this is working as intended I have no idea how people got to level 50 at all, let alone so fast.

No, I have never been too far behind, I'm either a level or 2 below the mobs or a few levels above.

Just kill everything while on quests, keep exploring and doing the quests, get all the public dungeons done, grind out some xp even if you want, without even aoe grinding I could make a level in 30mins.

Just takes patience and perseverance, plus if you play right you can easily solo mobs 3-4 levels higher than you.

wut? Did you not read the description? Your advice is to tell me grind? What am I playing an MMO from the 90s?

Being able to level up at a steady pace without grinding isn't too much to ask in a twentieth century MMORPG, specially an elder scrolls one... Don't act all high and mighty just because you have not suffered from this obvious glitch.

I've never had an issue being behind. Most of the time I am too high above the quest I am doing and I end up just walking through it nonchalantly one-hitting everything that attacks me. Exploration helps, from what I've seen.

As a completionist I am finding that even after finishing everything in a zone I am still way behind on levels the mobs I am fighting are level 28 and I'm level 24.. I just feel like there's nothing I can do to keep up, dungeons don't offer enough experience to catch up.

Reasons being is bc it is just not quests that u need to do in the zone, you need to run the public dungeons, instance Dungeon for the zone, and due the world bosses at least once to get the full xp in the zone to stay on Level per Zone. Hope this helps.

On a mob or NPC, under the health bar is the level number and name.

In beta I killed a carp ton of mobs testing abilities and found I leveled too fast per zone. In release I often avoid killing if I can complete a quest (as I am a nightblade) and am finding I am slightly below the level curve atm. Mobs do not give a ton of xp but it still makes a huge difference.

I haven't used the rings and don't feel under powered, Things can get challenging at times, but I like that. I've not done any grinding, just completing all quests and dungeons, and a bunch of exploring. The only times I've felt under powered is when I wandered too far out, too fast. Or the occasional boss fight.

I will admit though, dungeons are made much easier because they are so flooded with people. Half the time you could run straight through to the end goal without resistance. At those times I usually force myself to go back at a less crowded time to get my proper experience and challenge.

I was level 16/17 on my Dominion nightblade when I finished Auridon.
I am now level 21 in Grahtwood - and have completed 1/3 of the map. I don't think I'll be behind the level scale come the end of the zone.
I think it seems pretty evenly balanced (in saying that, I didn't repeat bosses in delves, nor did I do any of the 3 dungeons at level 12-17.
I have explored everywyere, done every quest, (and side quest) and opened a LOT of chests, and improved 3 crafting professions to level 12 (ish) - Clothing, Woodworking, Enchanting.

If you are under levelling, it appears you might be doing JUST the questlines and not anything else that gives a lot of extra experience?

I wandered into Sanguine's Demesne and thought I was severely underleveled and thought I needed to go back and grind, then I went outside Sanguine's Demesne and started fighting the monsters and realised that Sanguine's Demesne was just really hard without a group. So far I've only been about 1 level behind the initial quest of the next area that I had to go to, that is mostly because I haven't done the dungeons.

Yes as far as i know i've done every quest in the map bar some of the skull and crossbones areas and BC and i was hitting level 15 quests at 14, which is annoying because they were tough as. killing the rilis werewolf guy was exceptionally hard.

I don't honestly know how you levelers do it. I've played four characters and I always run out of quests even after I've explored every inch of Kenarthi's Roost and South Auridon, Some quests I simply can't do yet, the mage and fighter guild quests. It's very discouraging, depressing. I wanted so much to enjoy this game. I guess I'm just not cut out for it.

OK I'm pretty over people telling me to explore and that "quests aren't the only XP" like I don't know that already. So here are some screenshots of the content and achievements I have in the different zones just to show people this IS a bug and it needs to be fixed as fast as possible or many people will leave the game.

If you're sneaking past mobs instead of fighting them, that could be a very large part of why you are finding yourself underleveled. At my current level (30) I find killing a single mob at my level gives me around 250 xp (just a normal mob, mind. the ranked/boss mobs give more usually), and the quest reward might only give me a paltry 2000. If I kill something like 40 mobs on the quest though, that 2000 xp suddenly becomes 12000 xp, which is something like 25% of a level.

They really need to implement some way to reward players for avoiding encounters as well (like if you successfully sneak past a quest mob to get at whatever they are guarding, you get XP), just because that disparity I mentioned above is incredibly large.

EDIT: Also note, you get NO XP whatsoever if the mob you are fighting is over 5 levels below you. So for completionists: if you go back to try to get those places you missed filled in, make sure you do it sooner rather than later otherwise you may find yourself not really reaping any rewards besides the icon on the map turning white.

My main is only level 18, but I am getting quests on level in DC (I'm in Stormhaven at the moment). I only completed one Dark Anchor in Glenumbra and the "caves" but only one public dungeon (the one with the skyshard). I do sneak around a lot of NPCs when moving between areas, though I will go for the kill if they are part of the current quest.

Perhaps it'll get worse as I gain levels, but so far, whatever I'm doing seems to be keeping me on track.

I am level 14 and have all orange and red quests. I have one at twice my level. I was concerned at first but I am having a blast with these, supposedly over my head, quests. My witch is unusually powerful, but fragile, so I can handle the battles if I am very careful.
