During the Witches Festival event, whenever you defeat a boss monster, you’ll be offered a Plunder Skull container in addition to any regular rewards.

When you open a Plunder Skull, you have the chance to receive the following items:

Alchemy reagents
A festival-themed furnishing recipe
A festival-themed provisioning recipe
A complete festival-themed furnishing
A festival-themed sellable treasure
A small chance for one of the following:
A Hollowjack style item
A Dremora style item
Worms, Crawlers, Guts, or Insect Parts

What’s more, whenever you fell a unique boss type for the first time each day, you’ll be rewarded instead with a special Dremora Plunder Skull that contains some of the above items in addition to a chance at one of the following:

A Witches Festival Writ
A Glenmoril Treasure Map
A Glenmoril armor outfit style page
A Crowborne Hunter outfit style page
NEW Plunder Skull Blunder Memento Runebox
NEW Senchal Horned Owl pet fragment
NEW tradeable style page for the Eltheric Revenant outfit style

Both varieties of Plunder Skull are offered by arena bosses, incursion bosses (from Dark Anchors, Harrowstorms, Volcanic Vents, etc.), delve bosses, final dungeon bosses, Trial bosses, public dungeon bosses, world bosses, and Tho’at Replicanum in Infinite Archive (new for this year!).

Purple pretty much contains the same as every year. Some recipes, hollowjack and dremora style items, witches furnishings, and bug parts.

Which is what half my golds contain as well. They really need to either move some stuff OUT of the golds to purple, or put them in the grab bags.

Hollowjack gold skull had a Glenmoril whatever map that I did years (literally) ago, a recipe I also had years ago, and some crafting mats.

That is so very poor.

Yeah, for long term players just about everything possible from the purple skulls is low value, but unfortunately most of the gold skull drops are also like that with so much glenmoril wyrd which I think has been around since 2019

So far I got 1 feather and 3 *new* Style pages.

The owl feather drop is horrible

Also, as some already mentioned, stuff from 3 years ago is littering the loottable. The Dremora Motifs are ok, since those have their own drop slot. BUT, the older style pages. Those which are from 2021 or before. They should be moved from the skulls loottable to the vendore and being sold for gold, NOT tickets (eg. Glenmoril pages)!!!

Still 3day and no feathrs .... This total ****** What is wrong with this game.... As anormal human who goes to work its imposible... I have opened purples and golden ones ... The golden sometimes ahs 2 pieces of flover ad fishing bait with something.... This is not normal..

I got about 4 feathers, the memento, and 1 of the new style pages. They are defiantly rare. Part of it is because a lot of the old style pages are dropping in the skulls. Which is fine but for those that already have them they just become an item of zero value that may or may not sell in the guild trader. I wouldn't mind if those items were at least 1k to sell so I feel like I get something back otherwise the old style pages should have just been left to the event ticket vendor to reduce the amount of bad pulls (or have the new page not count as a gold page pull in the pull and appear alongside the old stuff).

They really have to stop with the low drop rate stuff. People have lives and can’t play 9 hours a day. If the drop rate is low, like it seems to me since RNGesus hates me, I am not going to bother with the feathers… I’ll never get enough.

Can’t even give away the old style pages. Gold skulls should only drop new stuff and not all the junk from prior years. Another frustrating event.

I do with a friend 7 gold boxes per day, we don't bother with purples. so far he has 6 feathers and I have only 1

I think that's the ultimate goal: to entice/induce purchases. I want the new Paladin costume. I have the Soulfire Dragon, so I "just" need the 3 pieces at 10 tickets each. There are 28 tickets available in the event. They're making it so that I need to either buy at least a couple of tickets to get that, or wait till next year. Of course, I'm going to buy, but this doesn't "spark joy," and I don't know why they insist on making people feel like they're being gamed and taken advantage of.

Daggerfall Paladin costume is seasonal, and it'll be here all winter long. So you need only wait until the next event to happen in Q4. Which is only a few weeks after Witche's Festival ends.

I got zero new anything from ANY of the gold skulls. And that's probably a lower bar than some because I also need ghost netch stuff. I'm over it. At least there's no point in doing lots of stuff since only the gold skulls even have a chance at anything decent but it makes me wonder why I bother. (Still don't have a bust from Hollowjack either).

ZoS, for the love of the divines, PLEASE put the damn old stuff in grab bags, or at least only in the purple skulls.

EDIT: I'm going to edit my comment to say that this feels just as bad as anniversary to me. Yes, the pages were untradeable, unlike the fragments this event. But you could at least keep trying for as long as you had the time and will power. This event, you are limited to, at best, 10 skulls a day. And there are 7 style pages + 10 horned owl fragments needed. That's 17 days alone, if you get one per day of one of them (and no dupes of style pages or can trade).

I go and pick up the Crow quest first, since you have to get those cursed feathers from the plunder skulls to complete it. I only get those feathers until the quest is completed, then I might get an owl feather. I wonder if those cursed feather are interfering with the owl feather drop. Maybe you guys can confirm or invalidate that theory.

I’m going to skip the crow quest tomorrow and see if I get more owl feathers.

I think that's just the mind playing weird cause/effect games. I've opened plenty of gold skulls without having the crow quest active.

I know right! I mean I like this game and it is fun but I am not going to fill up all my free time with it. I have other activities I want to do and other games that I'd like to play.

There are a finite number of Gold boxes you can loot per day. If you spent 9 hours farming them, it wasn't RNG, it was farming the wrong boxes.

Man. I feel like whoever was in charge of the anniversary motif drop rates didn't learn from the backlash. Fomo is not a replacement for good gameplay.

Except they kinda have. They're currently testing a nice nifty tool that removes the RNG aspect of event rewards. In pursuit of a solution, I think they've come up with a golden idea. Sadly the playerbase on the forums are already looking down their noses at it.

There are a finite number of Gold boxes you can loot per day. If you spent 9 hours farming them, it wasn't RNG, it was farming the wrong boxes.

But it is still an RNG based RARE drop so while some people are swimming in them others don't have any and this is the thing that has been happening forever. I've had 1 drop and I do probably 4-5 of the gold boxes per day. I'm honestly just going to focus on getting tickets each day from now since apparently my RNG is so bad. I have other things that I really should be focusing on more in my free time anyway so I guess the bad RNG helps lol.

I've been doing most of the boxes most of the day and am currently at 8 feathers. I wasn't getting them the first day but then I started opening up a bunch of the yellow boxes at once and got multiples. It's probably just coincidence but worth a try.

Well yeah, you can certainly open gold skulls without the crow quest. I was saying I was opening gold skulls and I didn’t get any owl feather drops when I was still working on getting the cursed feathers.

I'm opening all gold skulls one right after another and have various results for feathers. 3 on day 1, 1 on day 2, and no feathers after that. So, probably a coincidence.

I got cursed feathers and a horned owl feather today in the same skull so it is a coincidence but I don't blame you for having that thought process because I had the same idea with lead drops in a similar fashion.
