It all depends on their likes and dislikes. If I am going to lose rep every time I fish. or cook something. or harvest some node. or catch bugs for bait. I will not use them. At the moment I use Sharp since I do not lose rep for some common action you do in day to day questing, gathering and crafting.

In regards to their non-combat perks, I think I actually like Tanlorin's perk better — particularly the increased chance to force a lock. I find myself opening chests more often than looting Heavy Sacks, but maybe that'll change once I get Zerith's perk? I'm excited for both of these Keepsakes.

I already have all the existing characters unlocked so the roles of healer, tank, ranged DPS and melee DPS are either adequately filled or could be if I bothered to min-max their gear, skills etc. (I generally don’t bother with that because I prefer to run around solo and in silence.) On top of that the bonuses are unexciting - I’ve got the relevant lock picking perks and easy access to more lock picks, and Heavy Sacks are both fairly distinct and carry unexciting loot the majority of the time.

On top of that, having to unlock the existing Companions on all my characters was already more tedious than I liked, so now they’re putting a paywall between me and the new ones? Excellent, then the new ones can stay on that side of the paywall and I’ll stay on this side and happily skip having to do their intro quests seven times. Good fences make good neighbors, after all.

Since I've already got the other six and ESO is a "collect 'em all" kind of thing, I'll unlock both, work them up to Level 20 for their perk (neither is knocking my socks off at first glance), and then decide whether they get mothballed like Bastian (he gets pulled out by alts when I remember him for Mages Guild dailies), or get a full-time position. Give them an interesting story and I won't care a whole bunch about the skills they bring with them until Level 20, but give them an annoying personality or lots of piddly ways to lose rapport and they can bunk with Bastian.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I think that's loading issues, actually. If you wait until half of the time (or so) is up, chances are good it won't break.

I am very curious on this one! What is it about the loading that would cause that issue?

It didn't occur to me that when it said 90% chance, it wasn't actually telling the truth.

I like the Khajiit already but disappoint in the elf because I'm not into the VA voice sorry I'm try to be polite about it but I'm just not. There is very "cartoon" energy in the past works of the VA and I'm affraid the performance will not be suitable to ESO because of the very hyper energy of it. Hope it's different.

Not bashing just sharing my honest feedback of past works and hope that it's not done with super hyped up energy like cartoons >_<

I mean, I cannot prove it, but I had the impression that the whole thing might be "not ready" (not correctly loaded) yet.
At least I never had the problem again since I wait for the timer to almost run out before breaking at the 2nd attempt, if the 1st had failed. It just doesn't happen anymore since I do that (and it's many months now). A coincidence would be strange.

As said often - so sorry for the repeat - I rarely use companions and if I do, for the content I touch, Bastian is more than sufficient.

Ember and Mirri were the last ones I picked (and never used ever). I stopped caring about companions after that.

I won't be sacking Ember that's for sure. They have to introduce someone very special to displace her, and for me I can't see that happening. Why another cat when there are three other unused races, makes no sense IMO.

Will use both, but it highly depends on their dislikes if I want to keep using them. Constantly seeing negative rapport messages pop up prevents me from using them, like bastian and isobel with stealing or mirri with bugs.

I'll max them out, get their perks, get their achievements, then if they have a personality I like, I may use them after.

Well, having to buy them is a big bummer. Companions should be part of the Chapter release.

I would've liked a Necro companion. But not like this. And not another Khajiit.

    Very bad choices ZOS.

I'm reasonably sure that I'll use them eventually.

However, so far the only companions I've collected are Bastian and Mirri, since I haven't finished playing through the zones where the other companions are acquired.

Eventually I'll most likely collect all of the available companions, but I'm in no rush to do so.

I'm probably going to at least get Zerith-var to do his quests to unlock a free houseguest for my housing projects. I was really looking forward to a necromancer companion but I really don't like the khajiit + necromancer combo. It was the only thing I didn't like about the Elsweyr year.

His description on the stream didn't really appeal to me either. I really hope I'm wrong and I do like him because as of right now I can only really see myself using Tanlorin and I'm not super into them either.

If Zerith-var has glowing eyes though I'll just pass. From the promo pic it sort of looks like he does but those aren't always super accurate visually to ingame. Glowing eyes are just too corny for me.

I will unlock both their unique 'boons'; the one that highlights heavy sacks is particularly appealing.

The other one well, if it mitigates the 'I have failed to bash 7 times in a row with an 85% chance' sounds good to me.

Whether I will use them or not however it will depend largely on two factors:

    - Do I find their dislikes 'tolerable'.
    - Do they bring unique 'buffs' that other companions do not provide and can be situationally advantageous.

If the answer to the latter is 'no' then chances are they will live a comfortable life in one of my estates once I am done with the achievements.

If the answer to the latter is 'yes' but the former is 'no' I will very situationally use them on certain characters.

If is 'yes' to both I will consider going through the at this point tedious process of unlocking them on all my 'playable' characters.

After having done the 'introductory quest' for each of the existing companions x30 I am all quested out now. There has to be a reason for me to unlock them in all my characters and actually summon them.

Probably not. Ideally they would have given me a humanoid necromancer. I'm not much into the Kajiit and Argonians. I have Sharp-as-night just for RP reasons.

Not planning on using either of them. The only companion I like is Sharp.
I haven't even unlocked the others apart from Bastian who I used to use as a tank until he started screeching and moaning at me every time I accidentally killed a rat in a delve or dungeon. He's relegated to the compaion compound where he will live out his days in boredom.
I'm sure there will be something screamy about the new ones too. No thanks. :s

I'm a huge fan of companions, I've spent long hours just testing each of the current 6, so I am the target audience for this...

... I'm going to wait and see if it feels like a good deal. We don't have enough information to know if they are well-done, or if the unexpected extra price is fair, but I will vote with my wallet if it feels like ZOS is being exploitative.

Companions are going to stay in the game, but they have obvious flaws that need fixing, and selling more without developing the system is ZO$ wearing the wrong hat. Let companions wear hats.

Have they said if they need to be unlocked per character? Because if that hasn't changed then I probably won't use either.

I’m guessing that buying them for crowns or unlocking them for free via ESO+ will simply grant us access to their initial unlock quests on all characters. It’ll most likely still be that you’ll have to do the quest on a per-character basis, and I agree that it’s super annoying for alts.

I’ve wanted a male khajiit companion to tank IA for my characters for a while now (Ember is really annoying, so I just use Isobel). Alas, the fact that I have to purchase him separately and don’t get him for free, even though I’ve bought Gold Road, means I won’t get him until the next time I sub for a month, which will probably be in December or January.
