Are you going to use the new Companions, Tanlorin and Zerith-Var?

Tanlorin doesn't really interest me (far too much purple going on and that hair is terrible), but Zerith-var seems like he might actually be the first companion I genuinely enjoy having follow my Khajiit sorcerer around. Still, I won't know until I actually interact with them.

    I will use both
I'm really looking forward to meeting both and seeing how their personalities, stories and skills fit in with my characters. I'd prefer if they were just available in game via a quest like the others, but maybe that means we won't have to repeat a quest for each alt to use them. It's not a deal breaker for me though, especially having another Khajiit companion.

While in theory I'd try them out, as I've done with the previous companions; they're definitely not something I'm going to pay extra for... and ZoS is not releasing enough content that interests me enough for me to sub anymore.

So no for now, but perhaps I'd get them with Plus in the future if things pick up and I ever sub again.

I have ESO Plus and I will unlock both companions and level them for their passive. Really like the new companion passives. But they may not get unlocked on more than one or two of my crew of alts. I have six companions fully leveled, and many of my alts only have one or two companions unlocked because the companion required intro quests take so long.

Like always, level them up to get the permanent perks then continue to use Sharp.

I level and max them, and then do a Daedric sacrifice to steal their power for myself.... and leave them, broken, and lifeless, trapped in a menu....

I’m guessing that buying them for crowns or unlocking them for free via ESO+ will simply grant us access to their initial unlock quests on all characters. It’ll most likely still be that you’ll have to do the quest on a per-character basis, and I agree that it’s super annoying for alts.

The quests are what I'm trying to avoid. Especially if they are as long and drawn out as the last ones were.

It all depends on their likes and dislikes. If I am going to lose rep every time I fish. or cook something. or harvest some node. or catch bugs for bait. I will not use them. At the moment I use Sharp since I do not lose rep for some common action you do in day to day questing, gathering and crafting.

Yeah true to that. Bastian is losing it every time I come near 🧀 and I'm losing rep so I'm not using him on my cooking char 😅

i will probably get them leveled and such to get the passive bonuses, but if we are still forced to do the quests on every character, whether i use them or not is going to be based on how quick the quests are to complete

if they are longer than say mirris or embers quest, its going to be an emphatic no, if they are short then i might consider unlocking them on my other characters

Not sure but I think that, while subscribed, I will get them both. I am interested in the necromancer the most since it is the first necro companion we've been offered and, time allowing, I will try it first.

I am already tired of unlocking them on each character, I only have Azandar and Sharpe on a couple of characters (across PC/PS-NA/EU). The unlock is too painful, and Isobel seamed long.

The purple hair guy dips into modern politics a bit much for me, so I am not sure if I will even unlock him, even if free. I don't really care about the class and such of a companion, I just use them for a bit of help in my playstyle. The annoyances are adding up but ZOS seems to want to add more as we go forward, even with companions.

I would expect a system like this to have a strong appeal to a solid group of players, but the unlocks turn off so many (both the quest time and the future potential Crown cost). Enough are already noting that we are getting so little in Gold Road and this did not help.

I still don't understand why ZOS wont give companions the TOT-introductory quest treatment. They just made the TOT introductory quest optional once you unlocked it on another character. Companions could work this way.

I'll do the same thing I have done with every companion update. Level both to max level and rapport. And then, depending on if I like their skill sets or banter, maybe one of them becomes my new go to companion. Isobel currently holds that spot as a fairly competent tank.

I voted 'both' but it depends on how they are sold, and the price, if they're sold separately and are expensive like the bankers I might only go for one (probably Tanlorin) or even just wait for a sale in the future.

I've been using Mirri for questing and Isobel for dungeon/WB tanking for a long time now, I could see Tanlorin become the new full time questing companion and Zerith-Var the new dungeon tank. It would refresh the playing experience. Also I always like when we have new quests in the base zones. I skipped the Necrom companions btw, was fine with what I had in place already. It takes a lot of work to level them up fully.

they will be free if you have eso+

im assuming they will be posted separately like assistants, but will be claimable for free if you have eso+

i would agree if they were like 5000 crowns each, that wouldnt really be worth it

I enjoy companions and like the companion system (though I do wish it was more robust with interactions), so I will get both of them.

I'm interested in discovering their personal stories and quirks, and both of them sound interesting so far. However, they'll both be hard-pressed to supplant my two favorites: Bastian and Sharp. So they'll most likely end up stationed with the other companions in my mansion, pursuing their own interests rather than helping me with mine.

At the end of the year, the companions are the only thing that brings something new for me this year, so I will definitely play with them. I'm not interested in PvP, Gold Road had half the content compared to the chapters from previous years and the much-hyped housing feature was the biggest disappointment of the year for me as a PC gamer and housing fan.
However, it remains to be seen whether the companions are also characters that I want to have around me. My favorite is Azandar and I can't stand Ember for 5 minutes, so we'll see....

I'm absulotly g oing to make this khajit my main companion! When I was playing elsweyr with my partner and we came up to the necromancer quest a few years back (companions where already released) I recall wishing for a tiger khajit necromaner and behold a few year later here he is! I mean I don't believe in manifesting but boy what a coincidence this is (especially since I just returned to the game after a hiatus of 1,5 year). I mean I like ember as personality but this new khajit ticks all my boxes (necromancer and white tiger khajit), really hope his story is fun!

As for the Altmer, they look alright I just have an aversion to Altmers so I will probably not level her.

I'm sorry Ember you are probably getting benched.....

I can't bring myself to understand why people are excited about companions. I occasionally use them but no content in overland is hard enough to make them worth the time it takes me to summon them. When I'm not in a trial, in cyrodiil or in IA (wich is very very rare), I don't need to have an unimmersive glorified minecraft dog following me.

Isobel has been pretty good at tanking some WBs I can't fight alone. She has also been helpful in dungeons when the tank bailed on the group at the entrance.

Yea same here, I've never been able to find any real interest in companions. I'm only maxing them then send them back into the realms of my collection.

Even their unlockable feature is useless imo. Dropping containers with 40Po on greenprint inside... No thanks.
