Any updates on this? I know you were still working on an update @ZOS_Kevin to get the other questions answered.
No update yet. I've been told folks are reviewing questions to answer, but nothing else.
Just canceled my subscription. Ten years and it's now over. Hope they fix this for you guys/gals.
Have suggested getting a gaming router to many players having issues already, if they have those types of issues. But noone ever believes the solutions I give them, giving some poor excuses like "other programs work fine" or "my specs are higher than recommended". Not realizing they are comparing apples to oranges, and that MMO's and gaming is a whole other beast.I think I have to try to play again after a long time on NA server.
I stopped just because of a lot of problems with lags and non-functioning abilities.
I've had the experience of having ability lags in ESO where simply the ability wouldn't fire, the lightning staff wouldn't fire either (some LA and most of HA). Everything else like other MMOs and stuff worked fine. Only ESO had a problem.
I thought it was a problem with either the game or my ISP. I had a router from Asus RT-AC58U V2 (when the wife made pars on dummy unplayable for both, disconnects) and from Tenda AC-10 (ability lags and occasional disconnects but playable pars or trials together), so for the needs of my own big home network (little nerd home so) I was looking for a better router and went the route of an expensive Mikrotik. All the problems with the ESO disappeared. Even loading screen are shorter.
I honestly don't fully understand it, anyway I'm playing on an EU server where everything works miraculously.
Anyway my devices can't be compared to each other, I still have to try traceroute to NA and EU servers and try to play on NA server.

Checked the specs on these Mikrotik routers and the other two you listed, and unlike your previous two these Mikrotik routers all have RAM(and cpu)! Meaning they are actually gaming routers!
The difference between these types of gaming routers and other routers comes down to this: The ESO client expects data in realtime, to show it on your screen directly and to know you are connected to the server. This goes for both internet data as well as graphical data. In the case of internet data, if the ESO client does not receive this data it will disconnect you, thinking you are no longer connected to the ESO server. When your router cannot process the packetload(internet data) fast enough or at all, it will discard the packets or stop sending them. Meaning the ESO client will not receive the data it should have received and expected to receive. The ESO client not receiving the data it needs/wants, means the client thinks you are no longer connected, and will disconnect you. By disconnecting you, the ESO client forces you to re-login, syncing the client with the server again.
Now the gaming router: When the gaming router gets overloaded with too many packets(internet data), instead of discarding those packets or not sending those packets to the ESO client at all, it will put them in queue(RAM) for sending to the ESO client. Due to adding these to a queue for sending, it will slightly increase your ping under (very) high packetloads, but it will not disconnect you. Afterall, the ESO client expects latency and will always still receive those packets. Due to the client constantly still receiving all the packets it needs, it has no reason to disconnect you. But under heavy load and extreme load, your ping will go up slightly(30-50ms), due to your packets being placed in a queue and being sent a little 'late'.
Note: Your second router disconnected you fewer times, because it had better specs. Meaning even under high load, it performed somewhat better than your first router. The lag you noticed, were the packets being sent to the ESO client too late, but they were mostly still being received by the client. Causing some delays and the occasional disconnect still, but overall a better experience than with your first router.
MMO's and gaming requires strong gaming routers, gaming routers should be a recommended spec for ESO(and other games).
PS: Do with this information what you must/want!
PPS: Do not forget to assign bandwidth for each device, to prevent one device choking another's connection.
PPPS: A fast connection is not a stable connection, these are two different things.
There are many more reasons that can cause disconnects, but this is one solution for those who are affected in this exact way. Never said that solution would work for everyone. It was actually more of an explanation by the way, to explain why that person was no longer having issues.Have suggested getting a gaming router to many players having issues already, if they have those types of issues. I'm using Ubiquiti enterprise lvl gear - it's not my network and I'm getting these issues. ESO is 100% prioritized over everything on my network and I was getting these issues. I tried a $500 gaming router (my ubiquiti setup is about $5000 fwiw) and had the same issue. I even tried dumb-osh routers.. still an issue. Tried two different isps.. still an issue. Tried 3 different pcs (one was W10) still an issue. Tried AMD and Intel... still an issue.
This is a zos thing and they legit are just waiting on this thread to die down. After.. 7 months now its clear they have no idea whats causing it.. no desire to give us a true update... and no urgency for that matter.

You could have a bad connection, broken hardware/cables, bad ISP, bad wi-fi connection(use cabled for gaming), maybe an overlooked wrong (network) setting, rebuilding/refinding the connection automatically, network congestion, packets discarding faulty, or your computer itself is unable to handle the load given to it in time, etc.
It comes down to, there is sooo much that can affect a connection. And these are all things that need to be checked. (Another example: There is a reason why youtube preloads videos or parts of a video nowadays, because many people have a fast connection, but not a stable one. They would get lag/delay/stutter if they were to watch videos in realtime, like in the old days of the internet. Despite them having a fast connection.)
Many players/people do not realize their connection is actually unstable, untill they run into issues like disconnects/lag/delays.
That said, there is/could actually be something wrong with the server that does on rare occassions give a 999+ ping spike. Like once every 4-5 days. But for those having constant disconnect issues, they should keep trying to troubleshoot. Especially if you can narrow down when it is happening.
PS: I have been online for 6+ hours at a time this week, with no issues at all. (PC EU)
PPS: I'm using a gaming router which was 80€ at the time, it's many years old now. TP-link AC 1750.

I was doing Fang Lair and had to have our tank disable one of his addons (ended up being Bandits user interface) because of auto pings and I was receiving lag with him in the party.
Pings stopped, I got lag free.

It's good you stopped your issues but it's not addon related. There's lots of people on console who don't have access to addons that are affected by this. Some of the people I know who were affected by it resolved it by no longer logging in.
Probably just waiting for the time where the thread will drop off the front page to be forgotten. I don't think we're going to get any more updates apart from the "no new information yet." The thread is close to 7 months old and I feel like if they could find the issue they would have already.

Why not? In this particular case, it could be related to the addon. I had to uninstall Bandits about three months ago. This doesn’t solve all the issues with the topic for everyone, but for someone, the information that there are problems not only in the game itself but also in a specific addon might be helpful.

Tell me more about Bandits.
There are several in my PvP group who run it and lag has been off the charts recently while playing with them.
This isn't to distract from the obvious issues going on with the server itself. But this is an interesting tidbit.

Good info for those new people that come to this thread. Always remove all your add ons and see if there is an issue.
I know for most of us we have this issue with no add ons still.
Looked into this, and on: https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1643-BanditsUserInterface.html there is the following warning about using bandits UI in the description:KaironBlackbard wrote: »KaironBlackbard wrote: »Bandits User Interface for some reason is causing autopings and causes allies to lag out.

Does that include being completely and utterly alone with no one else in the server using add ons? (Best places to test probably being archive or private dungeon runs entered via wayshrine.)
Why do I say that?
I entered Fang Lair via wayshrine, thus completely solo. No issues.
No one in guild wants to join, so I initiate group finder.
After a bit, I get al ally. No problems. We take out a couple bosses.
Halfway, we double back to grab eidetic books. Tank joins us. My gameplay gets fried.
I have a tough time on the next boss, but we survived. I'm the healer.
I let tank know about his auto pinging and ask him what addons he's got. He starts disabling them one at a time, most had no impact. When the pings went away, he said the one disabled was Bandits User Interface. Not only did the pings stop, by my connection was restored as well.
Just because you are having problems doesn't necessarily mean it's your system's issue, could be an ally's system, which was the case in my instance.
Why Bandits User Interface was doing that, I have no clue. I've also never heard of it so anyone who knows, you got a guess?
Maybe players ignore those warnings. Notice the "will be kicked from server" part! (This also shows this add-on causes unnecessary strain on the server, otherwise players should never be kicked when using it.)Important:
- NEVER use more than one add-on with ultimate sharing or you will be kicked from server. (Stats, DPS sharing in Bandits UI, Ultimate sharing in Raid Notifier, Taos Group Ultimate, Hodor Reflexes, etc.)
- Do not use different add-ons with the same function. (Notifications in Bandits UI, Raid Notifier, Blackrose Prison Helper, Asylum Tracker, etc.)
- Do not use several different UI add-ons at the same time.

Another thing I feel ZOS should do, is allow players to restrict other player's their add-ons taking data from them. Though I do not have any issues with lag/delay/connection loss, there is also the privacy thing to consider. Other players have no reason to nose into anything I am doing, and I should be able to turn this off from my side. A simple option "Do not allow fellow player add-ons access to my account data. Yes/No" would be best. I'm not even sure why this isn't an option yet.
For the record, I am not saying everyone who keeps getting kicked from the server is having issues with this add-on. But this info may help the ones that this does affect.
PS: Despite me being against add-ons entirely, I will always try to help others.
PPS: More and more players are using add-ons without even knowing what those add-ons do exactly. This can lead to all kinds of issues.
Edit: Is it maybe possible that if player A uses banditsUI, and Player B has one of the 'clashes with BanditsUI' add-ons, that these can cause both players to lag/delay/disconnect? That could explain so many players having issues.
