Which Pre ESO Game Was Your Favourite?

Out of the following list which one was your favourite game in the series?

I can't decide between Morrowwind and Oblivion, Skyrim was great too but I preferred the earlier ones, Morrowind for the extra disk that let you create your own items and dungeons and Oblivion just because there was so much to do.

Edited to say I left out Arena and Daggerfall which was wrong in hindsight I didn't think anyone would remember them, I was wrong.

      Morrowind
Everybody who played it misses Morrowind. I think it would be great if Bethesda gave it to a subsidiary studio for a major do over. Bethesda is too small to spend that kind of time doing it right but, as Square Enix proved, there is a market for a redone, much beloved, classic. I would buy it.

Oblivion for sure. Didn't have the Xbox (first one) had a PS2 back then. Bought Oblivion on PS3 and has been by the the best Elder Scrolls game I've ever played. Skyrim was great, but it felt a bit lacking compared to Oblivion.

Definitely Morrowind, it's the game that introduced me to this wonderful Universe and its stories.
It maybe wasn't perfect from a Gameplay point of view, but you felt immersed in this world as soon you left the Ship in Seyda Neen :)

Oblivion is my least favorite I'd say, and Skyrim was (gameplay wise) the better one.

Morrowind had a depth of gameplay and immersion that has not been matched since in my opinion. It's really sad to see Bethesda dumb down the franchise in attempt to appeal to the fickle masses simply to make more money. ESO is an abomination in that respect - it's the most superficial and watered down TES title to date. ZOS is lucky the combat is the best I've played in an MMO, I wouldn't have stuck around otherwise.

Have to agree, it's a shame that profit has to come before excellence in gaming today. Not to say there aren't excellent games but they do have to appeal to the masses in their business models.

Spellcrafting, housing, item creation, and sure size and length *ahem*? Not to mention my first run with TES:CS and so many great mods? Morrowind

Pure hype, Patrick Stewart's introduction, and epic story that really got me involved? Plus better looking heavy armor and NPC's? And lets not forget a mod I made that seemed to really shine, Elven District Home, and then the Sheograth expansion (minus the horse armor dlc)? Oblivion

Beautiful backdrops, extremely epic dragon fights (at early stages), and the fact that all of a sudden I could talk about it in public and other people knew what I meant? Companions being made better and more useful (than prior installments), area's felt more unique and separated in styles and background, and the Companions? And lets not forget the skin changer who changed your face and tattoos? Skyrim

If I could take the spellcrafting/item creation from Morrowind, my home from Oblivion and more Sheograth, add in some massive world bosses and random mini-boss fights (like dragons, but not), companions and better storage system from Skyrim? Mix in some housing, add in a barber shop, some base UI improvements from popular addons (for us console fans) and a really good full-sized expansion (80 hour questline extending from main quest, new oblivion planes, and a new class or two plus plenty of subclass options)?

Yeah ... we're doing good in ESO. We could do better. But we're doing good.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

      XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

      Morrowind.

I first played Morrowind (first TES game) on Xbox, put in ~50 hours after seeing the 'review' on Toonami.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En5KML-sO4A

Then moved on to Oblivion, ~100 hours on 360 and got every achievement.

That's when I started gaming on PC and got a boxed Morrowind copy before Steam - it's seen better days.

      MNtCpGn.jpg

Put in another hundred hours on PC because of mods, but this was back in 2006 or so.

After I got into Steam I've put some more hours in every game:

      cDrRGxB.png

      PVCHcEQ.png

Total hours played is pretty close between Morrowind and Skyrim, but I prefer a modded Morrowind by far over a modded Skyrim.

      2) That's because ESO is an MMO first, Elder Scrolls second. It's an MMO with an Elder Scrolls theme. If you were thinking of ESO as a regular Elder Scrolls game with some "online" thrown in, then the problem is you and not the game. The development staff were very clear, many times, before/during/after ESO launched that this is not going to be "Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim Online". If you were still thinking it was going to be that, then you are the problem, not the game.

Take that as you will, but I think stepping back and getting a bit of perspective might do you some good.

Ive got Morrowind on PC and Xbox. And both my boxes look like yours :) I've easily sunk thousands upon thousands of hours into it.

Oblivion came out a few months before I shipped off to boot, so I will admit I played that game every waking minute I could until I shipped off.

      Oblivion
Oblivion. Skyrim may have better graphics and dragons. But Oblivion is just better. For one I like the horses a lot better. :p Yeah yeah I know Skyrim´s horses are suppose to look like their kinda from the Ice Age and prehistoric. But the story of Oblivion is also better. My favorite place in Tamriel or Nirn for that matter, has always been Cyrodiil. From the green fields of Cheydinhal to the beautiful shores of the Gold Coast by Anvil. I always lived in Anvil, and sometimes I just walked around the city and went riding just around the area. :p Plus Cloud Ruler Temple is awesome. I get so nostalgic and sad really when I see how Cyrodiil is now in ESO. My only comfort is that ESO is a prequel, so Cyrodiil will be restored to its glory. Plus, I pretty much 90% of the time, no matter what Elder Scrolls game play as an Imperial. So Cyrodiil is my home, or at least my characters home.

      Skyrim
I said it before and I will say it gain. As far as traditional Elder Scrolls go they get batter as time goes on with Skyrim being the best. I do not let nostalgia cloud my view. Skyrim is an epic that is beautifully rendered with the best combat. I could get and still do get lost in it above the others. I am not saying the others are not incredible games and Skyrim does have flaws just like the other. Morrowind can be tedious, Oblivion can be hokey and Skyrim can be repetitive. Arena, Daggerfall and Redguard had their place as well.

I felt that Oblivion was lacking something. I enjoyed the Shivering Isles expansion, but the rest of it had an emptiness that I can't quite pin down. It was fun, but not as engaging as the other two I listed.

My favorite one is definitely Morrowind, but I would be doing Oblivion a diservice if I didn't mention it. Morrowind was the first TES game I tried, and I hated it. Played it for a few hours and put it down (I was too young, and didn't get it at the time). Oblivion was the one that really hooked me, and made me want to try Morrowind again after exhausting all of Oblivion's content. I loved it to pieces the second, third and forth times around.

Skyrim was alright I guess. I played it a lot, and had some fun, but it pales in comparison to the prior two.

Considering that I started with Arena, I have to pick that one because it's the one that started the TES addiction. I liked daggerfall and morrowind, but oblivion really won me over. I liked all of them, basically. Now we have ESO which is a great idea, but the devs have really f****d things up since 1.5 and it's steadily going down hill to me.

Unfortunately I started with Skyrim, I played it for 2 years straight over and over and over! I loved it so I decided to play the previous ones, I started Oblivion and I barely lasted an hour. I was so used to the gameplay, UI and controls of Skyrim that I got quickly frustrated and gave up. I will play them all one day however. I love this world so much, it would be a crime not to.
